I am dreading travelling somewhere and realising I have forgotten something, like my contact lenses!!

My knickers and was unable to replace them where I was staying on a tiny Greek island. Two weeks of washing the pair I'd travelled in every evening.

I have adhd, I always forget something either on the way out or the way back, worst one was breaking my glasses on the plane and not having spare, have on a different holiday lost them on the way home.

i once lost a handbag containing my passport in the US - that involved a trip to the consulate in LA (which thankfully was the city we were flying home from).

Most things are solvable with a credit card!

Did you not wonder where the Greeks bought their pants ! I would have 😄

The worst was a bag of toys and books for ds aged 3. The only book that was to be found in the little holiday villa was Dumbo. We got to know that book pretty well. 🤨

Fortunately we'd given him his special soft toy needed for sleep or that would have been The End.

I'm obsessed with my list now.

Forgot my youngest once 😱

Night before we were due to fly to Paris he was being a right pain so I sent him to bed. Stupidly our alarms didn't work in in the morning and we were woken up by the taxi so everything was a bit of a blur. Managed to bundle everything and everyone out of the house but hadn't realised that no one had woken up DS. Didn't realise until we landed!

How old were they??

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea your posts are cracking me up, especially the people who clearly have never watched a good Xmas film 😜

And people who clearly didn't get the joke responses🤪

My whole suitcase. Two weeks in Turkey, we got to the airport and on unloading the mini bus realised my case wasn't there. Just felt like an insult when we got home and saw it in the dining room. I was not a happy bunny although it did show me that I usually pack far too much and can get away with taking much less.

Watto1 · 09/08/2023 12:34

Bras. Had to make do with the one I was wearing to travel in for a week. Unfortunately it was black and the majority of the tops I had packed were light-coloured and said bra showed right through. Fortunately I was in swimwear during the day so I could wash my only bra in the evening and leave it to dry on the balcony until I needed it the next night.

  1. But they were fine. Took a good few days to get home but they did some food shopping and even sorted the washing out.

In fact, I'd say the whole thing helped them mature a bit in all honesty.

We once forgot DS’s (4 at the time) Trunki on a skiing trip to Scotland. Luckily we had his skiing stuff but no clothes and worst of all no teddy. DS had been riding his Trunki round the living room and parked up at the side of the sofa. When loading the car, DH didn’t realise we needed it and I’d assumed he’d put it in the car. Luckily there was an all night ASDA round the corner from the hotel as we didn’t arrive til after 11pm!

huggiess · 09/08/2023 14:51

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea I was thinking this is familiar, love how some people haven't clocked 😆

countdown64 · 09/08/2023 15:01

I'm a last minute packer and often forget something. My worst one was my driver's license when going on a fly drive holiday to NZ...

missingthemark · 09/08/2023 15:05

Not me but DH came on holiday once without any pants.

mondaytosunday · 09/08/2023 15:26

Yep - the keys to the house we were staying in! Read listed on route to the airport snd we thought we had time to go back home for them - but we missed the flight. Two kids pre school age - and it was a 6am flight. What a nightmare I caused.
My husband had two passports and I asked him to check our passports before we got in the car. Sure enough he had four passports, but his two instead of one of our kids. He had said something about 'didn't I trust him' but was suitably chastised when he saw his mistake. Didn't ruin the trip like my mistake though!

Eddyraisins · 09/08/2023 15:28

I just went in a three day trip 5 hours from home. I forgot my hand bag. It had power packs, purse, chargers, sunglasses and meds.

Thank goodness for Apple pay is all I can say.

MidtoLon · 09/08/2023 21:45

Husbands suit left hanging in the hall. We were going to a wedding! Luckily his brother was travelling the next day so went to our house to retrieve it.
I forgot the credit card I had used to book something. I had a different one and my husband had one but still caused hassle as didn’t have ‘correct’ one

Tarantella6 · 09/08/2023 21:47

We have about 8 hairbrushes in this house because I consistently forget to take one and have to buy one. It's basically a traditional holiday souvenir now ...

JustAnotherSod · 09/08/2023 22:08

Twice - we headed to Ireland and I forgot to pack any knickers or socks - easily resolved by a trip to the shops.

More tricky was when we went on Honeymoon and my husband forgot to pack any of the medication he needs to take daily! Luckily we were staying for a few nights in London before flying to Kenya and were able to cobble together enough of a supply from a trawl round a number of pharmacies that could dispense 5 days supply as a emergency. Cost an absolute fortune in charges and, every time we've been away since, his medication is the first thing packed.

fuckityfuckityfuckfuck · 09/08/2023 23:01

Once left our tablet at a hotel. It was in a lovely leather case that blended in perfectly with the leather bound welcome pack on the desk.

We noticed once on the plane - went to get it out for the kids to watch and it wasn't there. Managed to get it back though!

How awful! Your son must have been very lucky, I heard the wet bandits were in your area that Christmas.

Poor Kevin! Grin

Lindy2 · 09/08/2023 23:18

Sleeping bags - when we were camping. 🙈 Luckily a friend lived reasonably close to where we were camping and he lent us some duvets.

Toothbrushes - all the time. I'm on holiday at the moment. I had to buy toothbrushes for DD and me on the first day (again!).

HereForTheFreeLunch · 09/08/2023 23:19

All my youngest DC's clothes!!

Emmaemmeline · 09/08/2023 23:21

I forgot my make up bag when we went on honeymoon . Luckily we stayed the night before in a Gatwick hotel and I restocked in the duty free

Paddleboarder · 09/08/2023 23:25

I have forgotten my contact lens case and solution and had to look for a shop to buy it as soon as we arrived. Forgot my swimming stuff once and my sunglasses which were brand new. Forgot half of my money, in the days when people didn’t use debit cards and used traveller’s cheques. That was quite stressful because also hadn’t booked accommodation as we were being adventurous!
