Ridiculously excited for holiday! Anyone else?

I’m so excited to be going away this weekend that I can’t stop clock watching! Time is adding incredibly slowly as I count down the hours to my flight on Saturday.
For the past few nights I’ve even woken up at 4am bursting with excitement! It’s becoming quite annoying now and I wish I could focus on something
else.
Is anyone else feeling the same? How are you passing the time?

@Usernamen I’m lucky enough to still be on it. 2.5 weeks so a couple of days left. It’s incredible and definitely justifies all of the hyped up excitement beforehand.

Oh amazing, glad you’re having a great time.

I agree that the hype is part of the experience! We have 10 days to go before we’re off next Friday and I’m tempted to start crossing days off the calendar 😂

I am here! I am actually on holiday! It is hot and sunny and I'm having tapas!!!

😎😎😎

Enjoy! We had RAIN again in the UK yesterday 🥲

Whereabouts are you?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 15/08/2023 07:43

We are in Cala D'Or in Majorca. The weather is glorious and the beaches are beautiful little golden covers perfect for swimming.

The only fly in the ointment is 11 year old DD dislikes both heat and crowds so is being a proper Eeyore about everything. DS, thankfully, is much more Tigger-ish!

Neverinamonthofsundays · 15/08/2023 08:40

Excitement is building for me now that I have everything organised and ready to go this weekend. DP is stressed about work so I am ignoring him and keeping my excitement to myself. He booked it all (the hotel/flights etc) so I am doing the holiday shopping which is exciting to me but until he gets today and tomorrow over in work he cant get excited at all.

Love Cala D’Or - the Balearics have the best beaches in Europe for me. Shame about your DD, hope she perks up.

We are now here and we've met up with 21y dd after 10 weeks. Enjoying a very hot and pretty hectic first week here in Orlando.
Spent yesterday afternoon 'drinking' around the world, at Epcot.

PinkPondQueen · 16/08/2023 17:18

I'm so glad you're all enjoying your hols. I am now getting ridiculously excited for a Med cruise - which is not for 7 weeks!! But one of my cats was diagnosed a few days ago with advanced cardiomyothapy - which means no more holidays for us until after the inevitable happens 😔 no idea when that will be and i'd already started planning a few trips for 2024. Fortunately I am going on the cruise with my mother so my OH will be here to give her her meds & keep an eye on her.

MissAmbrosia · 16/08/2023 20:03

Mine is just over a month away - to Sicily. Ortigia and Taormina. I am still a bit nervous. Couple of Etna eruptions, wildfires, and a fire at Catania airport! All seems calm for the mo, and I have 2 weeks til I need to pay for the accommodation. I have been booking some tours, and transfers and train travel between the 2 locations. Super excited and praying.

PinkPondQueen · 16/08/2023 20:14

@MissAmbrosia you have no idea how jealous i am! Sicily is one of my most favourite places. I never go to the same place twice but for Sicily i make an exception and have been three times in the past 4 years, i'll be there again in October stopping in Messina on the cruise 😍

Usernamen · 18/08/2023 08:44

@MissAmbrosia @PinkPondQueen Totally agree on Sicily. Went for the first time last September and loved it. Best time to go as well as it’s too hot in the height of summer. Enjoy!!

We’re now 1 week away from our long weekend in Paris next Friday and 3 weeks from our 10 days in Mykonos…. I can feel myself mentally checking out of work already 😂

MissAmbrosia · 18/08/2023 20:24

Can't wait. We've done lots of Italy but never Sicily. After reading up on what's there to see I can't believe we haven't been already!

Usernamen · 21/08/2023 08:55

It’s officially the week we go away (this Friday) and I am now obsessed. 😝

How do I get through the next 4 days of work?!

Also, I’m loving these updates from people now on their holiday!

This sounds lovely - hope you’re having a wonderful time 🥰

I remember being reunited with my family and friends after my gap year (having never been away from them that long) and it was a very special moment. 😊

countdowntonap · 21/08/2023 12:03

Within 6 days of getting home, I’ve booked my next one! The ‘looking forward’ to holiday feeling is hard to beat, although my sympathy does go out to those of you on the ‘less than one week to go’ countdown - the excitement is a bit too intense 🤣 Stay strong… and NO you don’t need to buy any more clothes/bits.

Maybe I should change my username to countdowntoholiday

Oooo I know the excited feeling very well!

We are going on hol in Sept (in Uk) and I’m ridiculously excited about that. We’ve booked 2 weeks abroad next June (not been abroad for 5 years!) and I know a couple of months before I will be like a child at Christmas 🤣

Have a great hol op.

StampOnTheGround · 21/08/2023 12:14

18 days to go before our first holiday as a family of 3! ☀️

Wow good work! Where did you book?

2.5 days to go and I haven’t done any laundry or packing 🤦‍♀️, and work has suddenly got very busy. Bastards.

Newname2308 · 22/08/2023 21:43

3 days left before I go away for a solo mini-break 😁 3 nights ON MY OWN, by the coast. Husband and daughter staying at home due to school (Scotland) and work, and I’m treating myself after a long summer of work. I’ve never been away on my own, and I’m so excited! I’ve got a sauna session booked, and I’m planning some walks. It’s going to rain, but I’m looking forward to hiding in my camping pod with a puzzle book and some local baked goods 😋
I love the expectation of holidays about as much as the holidays so this is a great thread to read!

Silkierabbit · 22/08/2023 21:49

I have 2 days to go before Mauritius and pretty much all packed. Very excited. Kitchen is being redone whilst away though was supposed to clear that by tonight, hmm, someone was focusing on holidays.😂

Oliesjola · 22/08/2023 22:08

Am on countdown. Am off to Majorca on Monday with daughter, granddaughter and partner. We will have a fabulous time because we are staying in our happy place ! Am so tempted to stay for two extra nights on my own but it will be another £350 ! Am wondering about contacting the owners direct rather than booking.com ..anyone else ever tried being cheeky?
OP I hope you have a fabulous holiday.X

Silkierabbit · 22/08/2023 22:23

I tried it once and got it half price but it was a small place just starting up and not made a booking with Booking.com. I think Booking.com take around a third so worth trying direct though I think they have to sign contracts not to undercut Booking.com. But you do often get something going direct like freebies or meals included.

Thank you . Am going to call tomorrow. The apartment is only free for two extra days and am guessing that it will remain empty until the Wednesday.

Silkierabbit · 23/08/2023 15:51

Hope it goes well. Am now checked in, 1 day to go. Very excited.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 23/08/2023 19:22

Won't you have to book new flights if you do that @Oliesjola ?
