Just wondering what people are booking and at what price? If anyones found any real bargains!

Today I have booked..

10 nights in the Balearic Islands.
hotel is beach front and it includes bed and breakfast at £1,845
flights for 2 adult, 2 children is £855 via easyJet.
Going in July 2 days before schools break up so flights were still a bit high but not as much as a few days later.
so approx 2.7K

I didn’t think it was too bad as a school mum told me they are paying 6k to go to Spain next year! They have 1 extra child though!

Would love to book something really cheap in aug but I doubt that will happen!

Spring: Kuala Lumpur & Singapore for DH, me and DD who'll be 23 but we will pay for.
Flights: £9k
Hotels, 2 rooms: KL 9 nights ~£4.5k, SG 4 nights ~£3k
Food etc: ~£2.5k?
Total: ~£19k

June: Isle of Man for TT races.
So far just the house booked: £4.5k

Late summer: Algarve for DH and me.
Flights and hotel: £5.5k
Food etc: £1k
Total: ~£6.5k

Other than that, some weekends in Cornwall which we don't class as costing much as the house is to be paid for regardless of whether we go down or not.

This is all quite extravagant for us. We haven't really had a holiday, other than to our holiday home, for a few years and usually we are both too sick of travelling on business trips to want to go far but we both turned 50 last/this year and have decided to put off retiring for longer than we'd originally planned.

I’m guessing those flights are not economy?

At least I hope not as I want to go there one day and I don’t want to pay 9k😅

We’ve also got feb half term to Iceland. 3 nights, 2 hotel rooms (2adults 2 teens) for £950 - we got £300 cashback with our Amex. I expect the trips will cost about the same again and we plan to eat as cheaply as possible (dominoes etc.)

Sounds like a great price! Are you doing any trips like the golden circle/ blue lagoon.

Iv been looking at Iceland myself.

We’re planning small group trips - northern lights, south tour and golden circle with secret lagoon. Will be a very busy 3 nights!

SofiaSoFar · 14/11/2022 22:03

No, you're right, that's business on Lufthansa/Singapore and costing us a lot of Star Alliance points, too.

I used to regularly fly to KL on Turkish or Qatar for less than £2k business class up until 2019, but those days seem to be long gone, sadly.

2catsand2kids · 14/11/2022 22:11

We’ve got three holidays booked for 2023 (2 adults and 2 children). Over May half term we’re doing two nights in Venice, getting the train to Ravenna, staying one night there and then doing a 7 night cruise (Royal Caribbean) to the Greek islands. Total cost of that holiday will be around 4k (flights, hotels, transport, cruise, food and spending).

We’ve got another cruise (Princess) booked from Southampton up to Scandinavia for 7 nights in the summer holidays for £1700 for the four of us.

Third holiday is a week in the south of France. Villa is 1.9k (but my parents and brother are also staying there with us and my parents are paying for that bit). Flights and car hire are £750.

ping78 · 14/11/2022 22:23

@2catsand2kids you need to start a travel booking budget blog so I can follow you!

blueshoes · 14/11/2022 22:23

A week in Feb - Ds is going on a ski trip with his school (1.8K). Over that period, Dh and I will go to Valencia for 6 nights for 1500 (flights, AirBnB, food).

We will plan something for summer after ds' GCSEs.

Husbandintheroom · 20/11/2022 22:39

Usually around 30k a year for 2-3 hols per year though in fairness and in school holiday time for 2 adults and 3 kids-fly business but not first class. This year likely more as away for 6 weeks in the summer too so around 40k this year

Holidayfinder · 24/11/2022 11:36

just booked Thailand for next year,- two centre holiday. Cost 3.5 k for 12 days for 2 people.

just a heads up to anyone who has booked an easyjet package holiday for next year.
My dd has just had her’s cancelled for Italy for next year. No explanation, just an email.
I have just had a holiday cancelled as well for next June to Greece!

Brycare · 24/11/2022 14:47

Just shy of €4k euro for 2 adults and 2 kids in France. 7 nights campsite in the Vendee, 5 nights villa with private pool on Ile de Re, and return ferry.
Flights and car hire would probably be a little cheaper but wanted to give the kids the experience of the ferry.
Before our kids started school we generally went away in September which was a lot cheaper.
Possibly might do a week somewhere in August but reckon it won't be cheap to go anywhere in August alas.

ICriedAllTheWayToTheChipShop · 26/11/2022 10:08

About £3500 for 12 nights in Nepal 🇳🇵 in October. It's with a tour company so some of that is, annoyingly, a single supplement, but if I wanted to book it all myself including flights and travelling between places, I doubt if I'd be able to do it any cheaper. Now I just have to manage my excitement for another 11 months!

Glumbums · 26/11/2022 17:49

I keep nearly pressing the button for a turkey holiday in May. Can't afford it but need it!

GrohlOnAPole · 12/12/2022 00:23

I’ve booked a Norwegian Fjords cruise for a week. £690 all in pp.

I've been on a few NF cruises - this seems about average!

@GrohlOnAPole Enjoy! Norway is my absolute favourite place in the entire world!

whiteroseredrose · 12/12/2022 07:40

@GrohlOnAPole Please share a bit more about your Norwegian cruise! I priced one a couple of years ago and it would have cost a lot!

It is now coming up to a year before our proposed Mexico trip (Dec 2023) and prices are much higher than this year's prices. I have been looking forward to, and planning this trip for a few years now. It is for our 25th anniversary and I have chosen this instead of a ring.

This year we could have done a two week trip for just over £5000. In 2023 it will be nearer £7500 for 12 days. A strong dollar has put hotel prices up a lot. Boo.

TERRRYsnotmine · 12/12/2022 15:57

9 nights in Antalya, all-inclusive 1 adult and 1 child £1,200. May term time!

Love this thread!

JessieEssex · 14/12/2022 12:10

August in Skopelos - 10 days b&b 2 adults and 2 children aged 10 and 12 - hotel is about £2700 (current exchange rate!) and flights £1600 so £4300. Can't wait...

Needarest22 · 14/12/2022 17:17

My boss now says I can't holiday in May so am stuck with last 2 weeks August but am concerned many places will be too hot.

We loved Skopelos last summer. 😊

Decafflatteplease · 14/12/2022 21:17

Some lovely sounding holidays here!

Ours it a total of zero as we can't afford it.
☹️

Intemperatefatty · 17/12/2022 09:53

Around £11-£12K for two breaks; 2 adults 2 teena

  • 1 week AI in Side Turkey over Easter -£3200 plus a bit of spending money (to be decided)
  • 10 nights in Dubai at end of August ( yes I know it will 🔥🥵 but we like the heat) - £8,126 plus spending money. Staying half board at the Atlantis so not planning on venturing further than the pools and water park!

We are spending half of what we did this year so pleased about that as we did Dubai and Florida this year, 2024 will be another biggie as DH gets his long awaited trip to Japan for his 50th and we’ll be doing Florida again.

Whycanineverever · 18/12/2022 08:53

@FreakyFrie

Don't discount other restaurants. We found a lovely fish place that was not much more than the pizza restaurant we went to yet looked a lot fancier.

Also other places just doing fish and chips or fish soup and bread.

There are a few hot dog stalls dotted around for a quick lunch.

Lordofmyflies · 18/12/2022 17:08

Ive booked three hols this year for 2 adults and 2 large teens (price wise 4 adults sadly!) for £21K
Feb half term 1 week, Dubai half board £6,000
July 2 weeks Croatia part lux hotels, part adventure holiday £9,000
October 1 week, Cairo and Nile Cruise £6,000
We live in Cornwall so will do day trips at Easter and Whitweek whilst its relatively quiet.

CoteDivoire · 18/12/2022 18:15

4k for 2 adults and 2 children at a 5* AI in Turkey - 7 nights in May half term. This is the most we have ever spent by a lot, and have never done AI before but I feel like a real break is needed.
