Just wondering what people are booking and at what price? If anyones found any real bargains!

Today I have booked..

10 nights in the Balearic Islands.
hotel is beach front and it includes bed and breakfast at £1,845
flights for 2 adult, 2 children is £855 via easyJet.
Going in July 2 days before schools break up so flights were still a bit high but not as much as a few days later.
so approx 2.7K

I didn’t think it was too bad as a school mum told me they are paying 6k to go to Spain next year! They have 1 extra child though!

Would love to book something really cheap in aug but I doubt that will happen!

Can I ask how u all pay? Not meaning the total as its out of my budget but I always wonder do people put 5k on a credit card and then pay it off or do u save then pay a bulk or do u have a payment schedule with the holiday of a few hundred each month.

I have a 0% cc and put it on there and pay monthly. Our holidays aren't too expensive though. 1.5k for the abroad one. We couldn't afford more than that.

Apologies I meant to quote gym gym gym and her claim that people on here are liars and fantasists.
sorry!

Aww no problem 😂😄

londongals · 03/11/2022 13:43

we will days at home and do out here
I will not spend ££££ just to fly off somewhere else for a week or two

Pointless post really on a holiday forum...

NCFT0922 · 05/11/2022 17:25

@gymgymgim yep, I’m sure there are. I’m not on those threads because they don’t relate to me. Why are you on here?

NCFT0922 · 05/11/2022 17:27

@RedRiverShore2 competitive coldness 😂

Rwandaiszero · 05/11/2022 17:28

It's odd people referring to others as liars, do they not realise some people really do either earn/win/inherit large sums of money and for them £10k is a perfectly acceptable amount to spend on a holiday. I'm feeling envious reading some of these but still love seeing where everyone is going.

Abouttimemum · 05/11/2022 17:34

A small fortune to go to Florida. Literally going to have to sell my body.

£250 for a four night half board city break to Liverpool in May, two day excursions and all travel included.

Wow that’s reasonable. I need to search around

BritWifeInUSA · 05/11/2022 17:36

gymgymgim · 05/11/2022 14:18

I will say it again. There are people on here smugly bragging about how much money they spend on holidays and yet there are many other threads on here where posters can't afford to pay their bills or put food on the table.
Still, comparison is the thief of joy and all that

I’m pretty sure if you were on my salary you’d be here posting about your nice holidays too.

Not all of us are impacted by the current situation. Should we all take a minimum wage job and not go on holiday just because you can’t? I could never have children. Should everyone else stop having children because I can’t so I don’t feel so disadvantaged? Stop being ridiculous. Why not spend some time furthering your skills to improve your income instead of moaning here.

If you are going for Disney and universal then most people don’t want to stay outside of Orlando.

Why would I want to waste 2 hours in a car everyday with 2 kids. That’s loads of driving when I can literally step out a hotel and get into a park without 10 mins.

Its different if you have family out there but most people visiting don’t.

I agree, we’ll be in the parks for a fortnight and I ain’t travelling two hours every day to get there!

What's your salary then?

lanbro · 05/11/2022 17:50

So far, 4 nights in Paris for flights and accommodation for 6 has cost £1700. We'll be doing Disney so easily another £1700 on spends.

Looking for the summer and October bit as dsis works in a school and I work for myself we're going to.hold out for something cheaper nearer the time! Prices are high compared to previous years

green82 · 05/11/2022 17:52

What's your salary then?

So she can be called a liar or boaster?

I have a standing order that immediately removes a portion of money on payday and puts into an account that is designated for holidays. If it is not in my current account then I don't mentally allocate it for regular spending. It has been removed from my consciousness so to speak.

I also sell a few bits here and there on facebay and that automatically gets put into the holiday account.

I was with you until your last sentence which promotes the philosophy of meritocracy. That is a cruel, right wing concept (I know you may not have intended to promote that). The notion that everyone has the opportunity to ‘better themselves’. It soothes the conscious of those participating in right wing politics and other selfish, well off people. Not everyone can do that. Those with serious physical health problems, intellectual limitations, learning and physical disability should not have to live in poverty because they can’t ‘further their skills to improve their income’. It’s an unnecessarily hurtful comment.

mendandmakedo · 05/11/2022 18:03

Mallorca £3200 All inclusive 4 star. For a family of 5 including a teen in mid August. Booked as a package. Put money aside monthly throughout the year to pay for it.

AnnieSnap · 05/11/2022 18:04

Conscience not conscious 🙄

green82 · 05/11/2022 18:07

No, just interested.

What do you earn?

yogiil · 05/11/2022 18:10

It genuinely blows my mind that people pay £4k+ to go to places like Spain

My parents thought similar & bought a holiday home in the south of France. Love it & get a very cheap holiday!

Hooverphobe · 05/11/2022 18:23

I wish I were one of those people who could bite their tongue… but no.

@AnnieSnap pay zero need to someone telling you to “read a book” when they themselves have a username equating their worth to their husband.

The username just highlights her nationality and does not indicate her financial worth is due to her husband. She may well have a six figure salary.

Really… You have no clue what the username is in relation too. Most of them are made up crap 😂😂😂

Weirdlynormal · 05/11/2022 19:55

AriettyHomily · 05/11/2022 20:24
