Just wondering what people are booking and at what price? If anyones found any real bargains!

Today I have booked..

10 nights in the Balearic Islands.
hotel is beach front and it includes bed and breakfast at £1,845
flights for 2 adult, 2 children is £855 via easyJet.
Going in July 2 days before schools break up so flights were still a bit high but not as much as a few days later.
so approx 2.7K

I didn’t think it was too bad as a school mum told me they are paying 6k to go to Spain next year! They have 1 extra child though!

Would love to book something really cheap in aug but I doubt that will happen!

Is this thread some sort of competition? Should I be ashamed that £3k on a holiday to the Canaries is not good enough? Or £500 on a week in Yorkshire?

For 2 adults and 2 teens;
Vancouver Island in July £9,000

Have fun ! Vancouver Island is wonderful, we only really visited Tofino - don't miss MacKenzie beach it's my favourite place in the world- but I'd imagine the rest of it would be awesome.

As for us, well DS school rugby trip to SA is about £2.5k so we're off to Jersey while he's away, probably going to cost around £2k for 10 nights including a trip to France for a few nights.

You were saying this thread was in poor taste a few days ago, comparing it to threads about heating and eating, now you're belittling your £3000....if this thread is bothering you Eve, hide it! It's in the holiday section, not cost of living.

BritWifeInUSA · 05/11/2022 10:23

Which one? Our trip to South America is $15000. Going back to the UK for the coronation is $6000. Next Christmas in Europe is probably around $10000, I haven’t finished booking everything yet. There will be a few other trips within the US and we usually spend around $40,000 a year on travel. We only fly business class or better. Travel is something I refuse to compromise on.

15 nights in Disney world in September, staying at the all stars resort including transfers and dining £4.5k for the three of us.

Is this including flights?! Who is this with as it's a very good price!

green82 · 05/11/2022 10:59

@usernotfound0000 sounds about right, we are paying about £4500 for 4 people with flights, but 11 nights, school holidays. Doing universal the other nights. Dining will just be some dining credits, I don't believe they've reinstated the full dining package yet, so won't be all food.

usernotfound0000 · 05/11/2022 11:18

This gives me hope! We want to do Florida in 2025 and I'd been expecting it to be nearer £10k

Mydogatemypurse · 05/11/2022 11:23

7 nights spain half board. 1 adult 2 kids going a day b4 may half term so they miss the Friday £1100. Im paying in instalments.

green82 · 05/11/2022 11:48

@usernotfound0000 we're paying £11000 after spending money, universal hotel and tickets sadly! Although if only doing Disney should be easier to do under £10,000.

£3k is nothing compared to most of the amounts on here and therefore I am a failure.

I don't think some MNr's appreciate just how very fortunate they are to be able to take multiple expensive holidays.

NCFT0922 · 05/11/2022 12:12

@Eve223 ffs really? Where has anyone said that they don’t appreciate it? FWIW, you’re the only one calling yourself a failure. Why don’t you just avoid the holiday board if it’s upsetting you so much?

green82 · 05/11/2022 12:37

@Eve223 you really can't see the contradiction of what you've written at all can you?!

If the holiday section triggers you so much you should avoid it.

This thread is disgusting and probably full of liars and fantasists, but if half of it is true then it goes to show how much the gap is widening between the haves and have not.

Where your evidence of Eve having been triggered?

@gymgymgim what’s digesting about it?

NCFT0922 · 05/11/2022 14:02

Or even, disgusting 😂 bloody auto correct.

Can't you read?

There are people on here smugly bragging about how much money they spend on holidays and yet there are many other threads on here where posters can't afford to pay their bills or put food on the table.

Still, comparison is the thief of joy and all that.

princesspeppax · 05/11/2022 14:16

Scottish October week, Canary islands as a family 5. Flights and accommodation through Easy jet £1879. Self catering but hotel seems to be central with lots for kids to do! Same holiday same dates with another major airline is more than double so I consider ours a bargain

green82 · 05/11/2022 14:17

@gymgymgim this is the HOLIDAYS section if it was being said in Cost of Living or a budgeting advice thread then I'd understand, but this is a section to specifically discuss holidays. Everyone is impacted differently, there will be people who can still go on holiday, and just as well because many people's livelihoods will rely on that.
