Bedgebury is holding a Christmas 'Lapland UK' Experience

... covering a part of the forest with fake snow, Christmas village, Raymond Briggs 'The Snowman' ride, Father Christmas visit, mulled wine to fortify parents, reindeer, husky dogs, trumpeters and all sorts. I'm soooo excited. Er, for my children, obviously...

It's quite expensive though (I just paid £167 for a family of 5). Here is the link. And here is the itinery.

And it's selling out quite quickly.

I rather thought she was at her best at 1425

AbbaFan · 21/08/2008 14:59

Watch out Zippi - you could get deleted for that 1st line!!!

CatherineMumsnet · 21/08/2008 15:00

Hello all,
We had no choice - we were contacted by the PR agency for LaplandUK who had been linked to - they assured us that DOT didn't work for them and therefore wanted all posts associating any activity on this thread to their PR firm removed as it was potentially libellous.

coppertop · 21/08/2008 15:08

Were Christine/Imogen/Robbo/Rosie etc all the same person?

Tabitha

MarmadukeScarlet · 21/08/2008 15:20

I bet they've never had so many hits on their site!

We run a PR agency and I've never heard of them and they are local.

We do PR for some pretty demanding difficult clients but would run the other way if LaplandUK asked us to pitch - couldn't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear despite my undeniable skills

squiffy · 21/08/2008 15:46

Surely there is a case her for MN investigating and reporting on the ISP's that these trolls very genuine and excited people are posting under?

Although pulling their pants down in public might make me laugh so much that I get MN confiscated from my work PC....

Ah, just seen the HQ post. So who is Dorothy? I've seen plenty of trolling but never so much directional trolling...

coppertop · 21/08/2008 15:56

I notice they say that Dorothy didn't work for them. What about Fireman Nobbo Robbo and the rest of the trolls enthusiastic pro-Laplanders? Or was Dorothy name-changing as all of them?

Tabitha

AbbaFan · 21/08/2008 15:58

HQ - Come on, can you at least tell us if they were name-changing?

Freckle · 21/08/2008 16:08

Hmm, for a comment to be deemed libellous (in the legal sense), it has to lower the allegedly libelled person/organisation in the eyes of the general public. I can't see how speculating that all the clearly braindead people posting in favour of Lapland are employees of the company is lowering the company in the eyes of anyone (unless you count employing people with a clear lack of taste as evidence of bad business acumen).

Presumably we are still free to comment fairly (i.e. based on our own experiences) on Lapland as long as we don't speculate as to how the company runs its business. In which case, it still seems to be crap value for money.

One does wonder if, now, any company which receives bad press is going to play the libel card to stop any adverse comments. If this is the case, this, in my view, does more to lower them in the eyes of the public than any speculation on the make up of their workforce.

eandh · 21/08/2008 16:11

ooooooooooooo first time I've ever had my posts deleted by MN Towers!! (and wonders how lapland Uk knew they were being mentioned on here????)

Threadwworm · 21/08/2008 16:19

Oh come on freckle. It is plainly libellous to name a PR company and then say that it tells lies on a chat forum to promote its client. That post was always going to get deleted.

Where would the PR industry be if it didn't insist on the figleaf distinction between lying and misleading.

MarmadukeScarlet · 21/08/2008 16:38

exactly threadworm

Freckle · 21/08/2008 16:39

Sorry, didn't see any post naming the PR company. I read some this morning and then went out (RL does exist occasionally). When I got back, lots of posts had been deleted, so presumably the naming post was in those.

AbbaFan · 21/08/2008 17:38

AIBU - to be missing robbo and Co

RobboAndHisHose · 21/08/2008 17:49

It's so nice to be missed...just grab hold of my hose...and we can make...sweet music together...

Can't believe ALL weekends are fully booked from Mid November! Will they allow "turn up on the day" queuing?

Milliways · 21/08/2008 17:53

Oops! Meant to have posted on the "Harrods Santa" Thread. How did that happen??

BTW - We went to the Wembly Lapland Thingy years ago & it was crap!

WaynettaSlob · 21/08/2008 18:32

How did my post saying "I see PRs don't start work until after 9 these days" appear libellous???

I am disappointed that my first ever deleted post on MN was so bloody inoffensive!!

foxythesnowfox · 21/08/2008 19:13

Thanks Milli - that would have passed me by
