Bedgebury is holding a Christmas 'Lapland UK' Experience

... covering a part of the forest with fake snow, Christmas village, Raymond Briggs 'The Snowman' ride, Father Christmas visit, mulled wine to fortify parents, reindeer, husky dogs, trumpeters and all sorts. I'm soooo excited. Er, for my children, obviously...

It's quite expensive though (I just paid £167 for a family of 5). Here is the link. And here is the itinery.

And it's selling out quite quickly.

1dilema - we booked disney through another mumsnetter Laughalot (on my post natel group and is now a very good friend, although we havent met (yet we've booked a weekend away in dublin next february to finally meet as I am down south in Kent and she is up north Dublin was the cheapest place )

Its £392 for Monday to Thursday staying in Santa Fe (cheapest Disney hotel but we only wnat to sleep there so not bothered) breakfast included, park tickets etc. Had to book eurostar seperatley that was £180 (direct trains from Ashford to Disneys gates ) would have been cheaper but had to pay for a seta for dd1 even though she won't sit in it

That was for 2 adults, dd1 (who'll just be 4 and this is part of her present but she has no idea we're going ) and dd2 who'll be 20months

HOW did I miss this thread!! trolls, elves, rip offs, riposts, it has everything

Oh, if only I had seen it last year as I my job involves organising events and I happened to be organising a christmas community event in the house and gardens of a local landmark, with...real reindeer and snow owls, santas grotto, santas miniture train ride, carol singers, christmas wreath and tree decoration craft workshops and real snow (from a snow machine) ...... and it was FREE entry and all the attractions were totally free.

erm.... ann nearly all the feedback we had from visitors was very positive

I was lucky enough to go to Lapland itself for a christmas trip last year (thank you mumsent competitions). I was brilliant on the whole and the reality lived up to the itinery.

I love Begebury but cannot imagine how they could in all seriousness expect to copy the same sort of santa experience with no snow on the ground and no real reindeers. And how utterly unmagical to have six santas!

I am sure the Begebury event is good in its own way but at the price they are charging, it a non runner.

There are so many christmas themed events in the UK that cost far, far less to or are free.

Just read the posts from yesterday and today. Brilliant!

eandh · 21/08/2008 08:38

Gist of the thread - started last year when it was announced lots of people book, v.excited etc, lots of people went dissapointed etc etc, lapland UK customer service reported as shocking.

A brand new poster Dot777 posted on Monday about how she had a fab time last year (therefore reserructing the old thread) Fio points out how convienient that this brand new poster who 'loves' Lapland Uk posts same day as they announce details about this years event and basically lots of lapland uk workers new posters pop up saying how fab it was etc etc

In summary read from Monday this week and its hilarious as the new posters troll 'blog' (their words) away (oh and notice how lots of the new posters have similar typing styles including signing off posts and doing ..... mid sentances)

geordieminx · 21/08/2008 08:39

THANK YOU!!

Apparently Robbo the fireman is busy rescuing Dorothy's children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren from the top of a Christmas tree. She sent them up there for a spot of PR fresh air and they got stuck. Poor dears.
