I know there are several mnetters coming to Carvoeiro on holiday this summer, as I live here I thought I'd start a thread for any questions anyone might have?

Costa we are planning on April time. Budget as little as possible but max max of £800.
(I think you need to set up a travel agency!)

Costacoffeeplease · 01/02/2017 17:33

Is that £800 for accommodation or all in chatty? For how long?

Yes most villa companies have either Thursday, Saturday or Sunday changeovers

What dates are you looking for? The last week of July and first week or two of August are the peak weeks of peak season and I expect availability for then will be difficult now, but if it's towards the end of August you might still find somewhere

Have you tried homeaway? On Facebook there's a group called 'I'm looking for Algarve..' And another for propert for sale or rent, might be worth checking them out

Sorry, that's to @MyGodLikeChin

Thanks Costa, homeaway are the the ones who manage owners direct and we are struggling. It's a party of 5 looking for 24th of July for 18 days with no flexibility due to mil work holidays and kids school holidays. But I am no quitter and I will find something!! (Fakes confidence)

Costacoffeeplease · 01/02/2017 18:00

I can see why you're finding it difficult, most villa owners will only do multiples of a week, otherwise they risk having empty nights, especially in peak season

Good luck!

£800 for 1 week. That's for accommodation. Preferably less than that. I love the look of agar seco parque but is £££.

Costacoffeeplease · 01/02/2017 18:42

You should find an apartment for around £3-400 in April - have a look at monte dourado, monte Carvoeiro, Colina verde - you won't need a car in any of those

Thanks for your help. Smile

Costacoffeeplease · 01/02/2017 18:58

If it makes you feel any better, algar Seco Parque is in a great location with fantastic views, but I think the inside of the properties are a bit 'tired' Smile

Hi Costa, I wanted to pick your brains again! We are thinking of heading back over your way in summer-What is Ferragudo like? Many thanks

Costacoffeeplease · 12/02/2017 19:24

Nice, very Portuguese, small centre, nice restaurants, parking can be a bit of a nightmare in summer. Praia Grande is one of the biggest local beaches and has a couple of beach bars/restaurants (we like Club Nau) plus a children's playground and normally some sort of water sports. It's about 10 minutes drive from Carvoeiro, and about 5 minutes to Praia dos Caneiros and the Rei Das Praias beach restaurant

Thanks Costa, Rei Das Praias looks lovely. Not sure where we are going to stay yet but Ferragudo is definitely on the list for a visit.

Costacoffeeplease · 13/02/2017 07:15

It is lovely, but has got very pricey recently - still very popular though!

Hi Costa , Me again! We are thinking of staying in Silves now - I think the festival may be on when we are there.

Hi, we are coming this summer but I have a couple of Qs for the experienced and staying 10 mins from Carvoeiro:

  • we arrive very early am and plan to drive and drop luggage but cant check in until the afternoon. Any suggestions for a nice lunch and place to wander around?
  • any boat trip recommendations and should we plan and book in advance? (have a car so can drive to departure)
  • are water parks worth it?

many thanks in advance

Hi, we are hoping to come back to Carvoeiro this summer. Have left it rather late to book anything but possible dates we have been given are last week of August and first week of September. Will there still be entertainment in the square then? The last time we were there we joined in the end of summer party but that was at the end of our holiday.

somebodyoutthere · 01/08/2017 09:42

Costacoffeeplease - sorry to revive old thread but I've just come back from carvoeiro having been inspired to visit entirely from your posts. We stayed at monte dourado through love holidays to make it easy on our first visit and totally plan to return. Lovely place, lovely people and just a very relaxing and easy holiday. Thank you from our family for sharing carvoeiro with us x

Poojaamin · 30/08/2017 09:36

Hi I'm going to Carvoeira next week with my 8 mo.
Does anyone know if they cater well for babies in the supermarkets? Things like pampers nappies, aptamil milk and baby porridge ?
Also the place we are staying at has a pool but it's not heated. It's supposed to be quite warm (up to 30 degrees) . I'm wondering whether a swimming costume will be ok for the baby or whether she'll need a warmer suit?
Thanks!

somebodyoutthere · 30/08/2017 11:13

I went with older children but the small supermarkets in the town itself were just like a local spar or coop but might not have your usual brand. However there are larger supermarkets on the outskirts of town just a short taxi or car ride away which are big international supermarkets so I'm sure you will be fine x I went to a place with unheated pool in 34 degrees and it was still cool for me to get in (had to jump straight in). But maybe if there's a smaller paddling pool it would be warmed up by the sun more though?
