The more specific the better, ideally.

But I am going to nominate the whole West Coast of Scotland (excluding Fort William and Mallaig).

For really good accommodation (not too expensive) try Alistair Sawdays 'Special Places to Stay' series...some really nice/interesting places...(once you've decided where)!

Stayed at Cambo house in St Andrews...was fabulous...not expensive either if there'e a few of you...had the West Wing!

The view from our hotel room across London - could see St Paul's, London Eye, Big Ben etc through huge window at 5.30am. Most amazing sunrise this morning. A real moment of awe.

Edam - did you see my picture of the moors above Hathersage - Longshaw (earlier on this thread). My home stomping ground that I love with a passion - do you know it well?

Pruni, me on the Quantocks- was about seven months pg at the time, remember it as incredibly romantic not seedy (just got dressed in time before we were caught though.... that'd scare the locals Grin)

moondog · 10/04/2006 18:37

lol Pruni.
Am going there this week (can't say I think it's so great though WM) and will think fondly of you fornicating.

I agree with Welsh boris - i was at uni in swansea and love the gower, for the second year running we are taking the kids to saundersfoot for their hols via a stay over in swansea so we can get back to the gower (I loved the gower so much in my student days I spent my hen weekend there!)

Hi,
Ive read a lot of the nominations and agree with many such as Cornwall, Bath, Cotswolds, Scotland etc.
I noticed another posting about Ireland so forgive me if I add a few places there...as Im Irish!
My favourite place in Ireland is the west coast of Donegal. Gorgeous beaches, white sand, wonderful food and gorgeous countryside and views! Its the best!
Add also The Giants Causeway and the whole Antrim coast. Its all protected and fantastic value for a holiday. Meals out are cheap!
For gardens and greenery then how about County Wicklow also known as the Garden of Ireland. Loads of gardens opn to the public and also a garden festival every year. Near enough to dublin for city fun too.
And last but not least because I also love it very much is Newcastle in County Down in Northern Ireland,. the mountains of Mourne are breathtaking. Loads to do and see, beach, hill and mountain walks, forest parks and so on...Gorgeous! f:]

Haven't read all thread so apols if repeating but Newton by the Sea in Northumberland is truly lovely and aided by a good pub with good food. Yum.

Kittypickle · 20/12/2006 13:01

I love the Gower, especially Rhossili Bay. The view from the top of the road that goes down to Studland Bay is spectacular.

The New Forest is lovely and one of the best sunsets I have ever seen was over Holt Heath, Dorset.

pooka · 20/12/2006 13:15

Bedruthan Steps, Cornwall.

aDadOnADustyRoad · 20/12/2006 13:16

My bed

Dophus · 20/12/2006 13:24

More vote for Wales my favourite is Three liffs bay on the Gower pennisula.

so many places in Cornwall - too many to mention.

choosyfloosy · 20/12/2006 13:48

Love lots of the places here - a more personal one for me is the Weald of Kent and the fruitgrowing uplands nearby. This takes ages to load but is a view of the gardens at Chartwell but there are lots of little secret sunken roads around there that are favourite.

Also Knole Park in Sevenoaks. Sevenoaks is not a very inspiring place to come from unless you're into padded gilets and 4x4s, but Knole makes it special.

averymerrymonkeymooXmastoyou · 20/12/2006 13:59

Too many to mention, we live in a beautiful country but a few that spring to mind are:

Studland Bay in Dorset especially on a cool, sunny winters day, Salisburys' cathedral close, Peak District in general, North Norfolk coast, Cheltenham - in and around.

singsalot · 20/12/2006 14:15

Lochinver, nw scotland, very beautiful

NormaJeanBaker · 27/02/2009 15:59

River Thames late at night with the city reflecting in the water.
