The more specific the better, ideally.

But I am going to nominate the whole West Coast of Scotland (excluding Fort William and Mallaig).

Meldon, Dartmoor

The view from ds's playing field at school - over to France on a good day. Also the view from my house at sunset - fields look like Paul Klee painted them. Going across Waterloo Bridge on a no. 68 bus. Crystal Palace ruins in the mist used to be a particular favourite of mine too.

Rhossilli on the Gower Peninsula
Most of Connemara (on sunny day)
Holkham Beach

Ellbell · 03/04/2006 22:51

Very very specific...

Mellon Udrigle beach, near Laide, near ... well... pretty much near nowhere. (West coast of Scotland)

St Michael's Mount. Not the 'front' looking towards Penzance, but round the back, looking out to sea and towards the Lizard.

Top of Trencrom Hill, from where you can see both north and south coasts of Cornwall at the same time.

Hell Bay (Bryher, Isles of Scilly)

Jodee · 03/04/2006 22:54

Anywhere on the gower.

Lizard Peninsula.

Hafod Estate,Wales

moondog · 03/04/2006 22:58

Where's that NAS?

snowleopard · 03/04/2006 23:00

We went to Kynance Cove last year Sparkler and as well as it being lovely, we witnessed an exciting helicopter rescue of some people who'd got stuck out on the headland when the tide came in.

It is gorgeous.

mcmudda · 03/04/2006 23:01

Katymac - dh and I have engraved our initials in the red sandstone at Thurstaston!

notasheep · 03/04/2006 23:01

16 miles inland from Aber-listed forest/landscape,we DID have a house there, very isolated and WOW.
Anyone who was someone would leave London to come to Hafod to wine and dine in the old days!

TinyGang · 03/04/2006 23:04

Forest of Dean and Simmonds Yat.

kiera · 03/04/2006 23:13

The view across the eden valley and lake district at the top of the hairpin bend in the pennines just before you get to alston. It's called Fiend's Fell. There's a car park and café at the top and on a clear day the view is absolutely breath-taking.

Also if you climb up in the mountains almost anywhere in Snowdonia you will be blown away by the views. Stunning. I love the area around Beddgelert. There is a walk up into the mountains from the village and as you cross the top this incredible scenery of all the surrounding mountains and lakes comes into view.

Ahhh wish I was there now...

The white cliffs of Dover as your ferry leaves port for France . . .

puff · 03/04/2006 23:14

Kynance Cove is gorgeous - there are so many parts of Cornwall I adore, I would be here all night listing them

moondog · 03/04/2006 23:15

Kiera,my father is from Beddgelert.
He was born in the police house there and bought it back a few years ago.

Derwent Valley (Peak District) in autumn

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 03/04/2006 23:37

this has turned into a lovely thread. quite a few fans of the Gower I see. I love that place. Kynance Cove looks amazing. Where in the Derwent Valley do you like maximillion - I was brought up about 2 yards from the Derwent - looked right at it from the bathroom window. \link{http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/content/1/c6/03/28/09/frogatt1.jpg\frogatt}

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 03/04/2006 23:38

and I agree about the view from Waterloo Brdige, especially when its all grey, hazy and Turner-like

mcmudda · 03/04/2006 23:41

Am completely biased as I live here, but the East side of Loch Lomond is pretty stunning. The view from my front room is particularly gorgeous Smile and Ben Lomond is in my back garden. Midges are a pile of pants though...
