The more specific the better, ideally.

But I am going to nominate the whole West Coast of Scotland (excluding Fort William and Mallaig).

swedishmum · 04/04/2006 08:47

Not necessarily beautiful, but I love Dungeness - it's so dramatic.

Wallace · 04/04/2006 08:48

LOL Skribble - that last bridge looks slightly familiar Grin It does look especially beautiful in that picture.

podkin · 04/04/2006 08:48

Also Glastonbury Tor

Dungeness, in a wild, industrial sort of way
Top of Castle Crag, Borrowdale (centre of AW Wainright's favourite square mile in Lakeland)
Hampton Court Gardens, Herefordshire
Holkham Beach, Norfolk
All of the round-Buttermere stroll, Cumbria
Ely Cathedral in winter...in fact all of the Cambridgeshire fens in winter
Borough Market on a busy Friday lunchtime
London's wonderful Thameside walks
Eltham Palace Gardens

roosmum · 04/04/2006 10:59

HF - its only saving grace is the fact that you can be on the gower in 20 mins!
Wink

Walking along the River Ouse in York at Summer time.
I love Stratford Upon Avon too. Beautiful place.
Robin Hoods Bay also.

Tutter · 04/04/2006 11:13

Isle of Skye
the northern bits of the Lake District
(both in bleakish ways)

TM - last time I looked Hampton Court was in Middlesex Wink

JanH · 04/04/2006 11:14

\link{http://www.hamptoncourt.org.uk/\Different one,} Tutter!

iota · 04/04/2006 11:24

loads of wales is very beautiful

don't think the \link{http://www.elanvalley.org.uk/dams_and_reservoirs.html\Elan Valley} has been mentioned yet

Tutter · 04/04/2006 11:26

am begging your pardon TM and JanH. why 2 palaces with the same name? how very unoriginal (of the second one)!

geekgrrl · 04/04/2006 11:54

Foutains Abbey in N. Yorks. - a UNESCO world heritage site.

Lots of N. Yorks., really. The Dales... and the surrounding countryside

ToujoursMarine · 04/04/2006 11:56

I thought the cottage owners were off their chumps when it was head of their visit recommendations Tutter Grin (we were staying near Much Marcle...) no idea why the same name, possibly aspirational former owners? But if you are ever in the area the gardens are quite outstanding, in a lovely setting, and very off-the-beaten-track (unlike London's Hampton Court!)

JanH · 04/04/2006 12:20

According to the website, the Hereford one is the original, Marina Grin (15th C v 16th)

SenoraPostrophe · 04/04/2006 12:21

has nobody said the north norfolk coast?

SenoraPostrophe · 04/04/2006 12:22

(except hunstanton of course)

Blu · 04/04/2006 12:35

Mazzy said Holkham Beach.
For N Norfolk, I would say the view down Blakeney High St when the tide is high and the sea heather clooming on the marsh, the coast, dunes and beach at Scolt Head and Thornham, and Blakeney point at low tide whan the seals are out on the banks and the sea is turquouise.

Glencoyne - a small valley above Ullswater. The little tarn on Haystacks. The walk up from Buttermere along Besomething (?) along the edge at the top, and round the horseshoe to Grassmoor.

Oooh, so many places.
