University Offers for 2022 Start

I've heard universities are being more cautious this year, with some stating that they are not going to make most offers until the January deadline, when they can see a clearer picture - because of the over-subscription that happened for last year's students.

I thought it might be interesting to see which universities are making offers for which subjects.

We've only heard from York so far, for Computer Science. York University do seem to be making early offers.

Anyone else heard from any universities? Think it would be good to know what is happening out there :)

Lovely to see more offers coming in.

Fruitygal · 08/12/2021 11:43

@Neurodiversitydoctor I think you are right DSs friends a few years ago who thought they’d aced the interview didn’t get offered where ones who had thought it ok some good some difficult questions got offered.

Mankini · 08/12/2021 13:23

Anyone else been waiting a while? DD sent her application in 2 weeks ago and hasn't had anything back yet.

Applied for UCL, Imperial, Royal Holloway, Manchester and Keele (reserve) to do Geology.

Heifer · 08/12/2021 13:52

DD has an offer from Sheffield Hallam (Biology) of 96 ucas pts (usual offer 112 pts) so will be a back up if she doesn't get any lower than expected offers from others. She is hoping for Nottingham, York, Loughborough & Sheffield but it's nice to have 1 in the bag.

nodtik · 08/12/2021 16:06

@Fruitygal

That's good to know. He was unsure about going to the open day, but went and loved it - so welcoming!!

It's good that it's a fairly low offer too, as it could well be his second choice.

Fruitygal · 08/12/2021 16:15

@Mankini when my DS applied for geology 6 years ago RH and keele came back in 3 weeks. Remember there were strikes for 3 days last week so there maybe delays in getting offers.

BlueMarigold · 08/12/2021 17:34

Got offer for Biology at Lincoln for BBB. Very happy DD!

nodtik · 08/12/2021 18:46

@Mankini

Has your DS heard anything from RH? My son hasn't had a offer, but has been given access to an applicant's portal?

Not sure what that means?

gunnersgold · 08/12/2021 19:16

We have Portsmouth , Kent and Bristol

Fruitygal · 08/12/2021 19:55

@BlueMarigold - amazing news !!! Please congratulate your DD x

BlueMarigold · 08/12/2021 20:08

Thanks @Fruitygal!

Chewbecca · 08/12/2021 20:27

Nottingham for Economics came in this evening, 1 week after submitting. DS is happy.

OrangeBlossom28 · 08/12/2021 20:27

Still waiting on York now after an acknowledgment email last Tuesday evening.
Congrats to others with offers coming in too!

Fruitygal · 09/12/2021 09:52

@Chewbecca congratulations for DS

Howshouldibehave · 09/12/2021 17:49

We’ve heard from everywhere except Nottingham!

Applying for Psychology and typically, that’s the one she really wants!

crazycrofter · 09/12/2021 18:21

@Howshouldibehave where else has she applied? Dd also applying for Psychology, she has offers from Manchester and Southampton, waiting on Bath, York and Nottingham.

CaliforniaDrumming · 09/12/2021 19:06

May I ask if anyone has offers for Economics from Warwick or UCL? DS is very despondent after getting rejections from Cambridge and LSE. He has an offer from Notts but doesn't want it.

mnp321 · 10/12/2021 21:28

Not relevant to Economics but my son received an offer to study Politics at Warwick today. He only has Durham left so will have some more waiting to do, although it's also his first choice if he did receive an offer.

NCTDN · 10/12/2021 21:31

Yes I'm expecting a long wait for Durham!

nodtik · 11/12/2021 16:43

Two more for my DS.

Sussex BBB if firm choice rather than ABB

BBC from Royal Holloway - reduced from ABB due to A in EPQ in year 12 and firm choice!

Amazing!

OrangeBlossom28 · 14/12/2021 20:46

Finally had an offer through from York this afternoon so all five offers in and an offer holder day at Southampton booked for Feb.

bonnieliesovertheocean · 15/12/2021 08:31

A few questions for you lovely lot who most certainly are more clued up than me. DS has applied for a mix of film and liberal arts to Bristol, Exeter and UWE. Had offers for lib arts from Bristol and Exeter and film at UWE (his safety option). First university goer in the family and I wondered about offer holder days. Is this something that he will get informed about or is it something he needs to pursue?

And also, has anyone had offers from Bath for Psychology? One of his friends with fantastic predictions has had their application in since Oct and hasn't had anything from them.

Thank you.

Alsoplayspiccolo · 15/12/2021 08:35

bonnieliesovertheocean, great to hear of another DC applying for those subjects.
My DD has applied for English lit + film/ liberal arts at Birmingham, Southampton, Reading, RH and KCL.

Fruitygal · 15/12/2021 09:52

@bonnieliesovertheocean If you are not doing it already get DC to forward emails from uni to you. Some unis will mention offer days in Initial email via a link. Others will expect student to set up a student user name and password for their uni portal and only then can you see the offer day info. Others like Exeter hasn’t published offer days yet. I hope this helps.

bonnieliesovertheocean · 15/12/2021 11:16

Thanks fruitygal - that does help hugely. He is a very independent yet very laid back fella and I don't want him to miss anything.
