University Offers for 2022 Start

I've heard universities are being more cautious this year, with some stating that they are not going to make most offers until the January deadline, when they can see a clearer picture - because of the over-subscription that happened for last year's students.

I thought it might be interesting to see which universities are making offers for which subjects.

We've only heard from York so far, for Computer Science. York University do seem to be making early offers.

Anyone else heard from any universities? Think it would be good to know what is happening out there :)

DD looking at biological science so a different degree entirely but worth looking at some other MN posts and other forums Re face to face teaching. Durham did cock up along with many other unis - York, Leeds and Exeter but lots more who kept it more quiet. However Warwick have too many students on some courses and rather than pay them to defer they have taken the money but done almost all teaching online as not enough space for the students they accepted (massively poor if you are doing bioscience with no labs etc) not sure if the situation for PPE is the same or different ?

@Fruitygal do you know how Birmingham was with their face to face teaching in Biology? Still in limbo with the application but it will get sorted next week.

@newcollegemintjuleep we will probably be in the same boat as you come January as I can’t see DS getting a place at Oxford ….and Durham seems to be the default choice. I would much prefer him to go to St Andrews or Warwick although that’s quite disturbing to hear that they have too many students and they are all learning online?! What will they do post covid?

DS’s got his first offer from Strathclyde which is his likely insurance choice so that’s very comforting, plus he really liked the walk round we had & thinks the course looks great too. They offered the bottom of their published range.

@nodtik one if my DSs was at Portsmouth for Geology. It was his insurance but he had such an amazing time and he’s so glad he went there !
