University Offers for 2022 Start

I've heard universities are being more cautious this year, with some stating that they are not going to make most offers until the January deadline, when they can see a clearer picture - because of the over-subscription that happened for last year's students.

I thought it might be interesting to see which universities are making offers for which subjects.

We've only heard from York so far, for Computer Science. York University do seem to be making early offers.

Anyone else heard from any universities? Think it would be good to know what is happening out there :)

There aren't any offer holder days for Reading yet. I think DD2 registered for updates via the visit us part of the website.

Thanks, glad we haven't missed anything. Il'll get my daughter to register for updates on the website too.?

DD has had an offer for English Literature / Theatre from Birmingham & is excited. I’m guessing we’re waiting for after next week’s deadline for the others.

Niceday203 · 20/01/2022 14:13

apologies if my question is really stupid but some posts say my DD/DS has been rejected by Cambridge . How does that work if the date everyone is waiting on is 25th Jan?

Niceday203 · 20/01/2022 14:15

Also does anyone know if UCL has invited all the candidates for English Lit yet? DD has heard nothing from UCl, Warwick or Durham - we are all starting to worry now!!

Chewbecca · 20/01/2022 14:15

I think 25 Jan is when DC who had interviews hear. Some applicants heard a No instead of receiving an invitation to interview.

Niceday203 · 20/01/2022 14:23

Chewbecca, thank you that makes sense. First time doing all this- steep learning curve.

Lovemusic33 · 24/01/2022 20:50

Dd has had 3 offers….Bath spa, Cardiff and Bournemouth. She’s waiting to hear from Southampton and Exeter, Exeter saying they won’t be making offers until all applications are in (this week). Dd is applying for English lit. I think Exeter will be a no go as her predicted grades are A,A,B but she’s only hitting A,A*,C.

A580Hojas · 25/01/2022 15:29

My son has had 3 offers now, including ABB to read history at Exeter. Is this a good offer?

Chewbecca · 25/01/2022 18:00

What do you mean by a good offer?

That seems good. My dd is waiting for a offer for Enlighten lit at Exeter but expecting them to say she needs AAA, if she gets a offer with condition of ABB she will be very happy.

Tango DS has been invited for Bath maths offer holder day, they are online. Don’t think he has signed up to one yet, must prod him a bit.

Niceday203 · 26/01/2022 12:35

Offer for Warwick here too but DC really want UCL. Does anyone know if they have already invited applicants for interview for English Lit. yet or are they still processing.

Having a quick search on TSR, found a couple of mentions of people having had interviews and someone being offered without interview.
Niceday203 · 27/01/2022 12:14

so hopefully they are still working their way through applications then. New to this I assume they tell you if you DON'T have a place -is that what happens?

A580Hojas · 27/01/2022 16:24

DS now has his 4th offer for history. This time Bristol, again ABB.

Yes, UCAS Track is updated with the response either way and the applicant gets a message to say that there has been a change.

DD had a offer from Exeter in November which was unexpected as was expecting to wait until feb. We are still waiting for a yay or nay on biological sciences from Durham.

Dd has had a invite to a offer holder day, she said it isn’t online? I will have to check she has read it correctly 🤣, hers is for English.

Dd was waiting for Exeter but for 2023 offer but has now decided on Bath Spa for 2022. In a way I’m hoping Exeter don’t make her a good offer, she has mobility issues and I think she will struggle with Exeter.

Volterra · 28/01/2022 07:52

Lovemusic33 I can guarantee if anyone is wrong it is DS😀 I’d better check with DS...

Lovemusic33 · 28/01/2022 07:55

Just checked DD’s email and pretty sure it’s on site as it asked if we needed any disabled access and mentions places to stay near by.

Lovemusic33 · 28/01/2022 07:59

Is it normal for parents to attend offer holder days? Dd has booked a place for me but I don’t want to be the only parent there 😬

Volterra · 28/01/2022 08:05

Yes I think parents do generally go to them.

NCTDN · 28/01/2022 08:15

We're going to one but only one parent is allowed. DH hadn't seen the uni that is favourite so I feel it's important for him to go.

beenrumbled · 28/01/2022 10:01

We are booked on DDs offer holder days for Lancaster and York.

She could book 2 guests and there was some mention of sessions for parents/carers.
