University Offers for 2022 Start

I've heard universities are being more cautious this year, with some stating that they are not going to make most offers until the January deadline, when they can see a clearer picture - because of the over-subscription that happened for last year's students.

I thought it might be interesting to see which universities are making offers for which subjects.

We've only heard from York so far, for Computer Science. York University do seem to be making early offers.

Anyone else heard from any universities? Think it would be good to know what is happening out there :)

DS now has heard from all five unis for Economics. Got offers from UCL, Warwick and Notts. Rejected by Cambridge and the LSE.

Will likely firm UCL and insure Notts.

EwwSprouts I'll get DD to double check Sheffield for offer days - she said she couldn't see anything Hmm

EwwSprouts · 11/01/2022 08:36

@beenrumbled I think an email mentioned them but then you had to activate a link to make an account on their system to see dates. DS could only see biology dates so it may be different time frame in other departments.

@Eightytwenty DD has been able to book on an offer day for York.

They had a mix of virtual and in person offer /applicant days available to book , and she was keen to go in person as they only had virtual open days last year. We did go for a wander round campus ourselves over summer but it's not the same.

She is hoping to do English Language and Linguistics.

Ds has had his first offer in! From his first choice as well. He had an email Saturday and offer today.
Waiting on the other 4 before he accepts. Happy days!

OrangeBlossom28 · 12/01/2022 20:31

@beenrumbled We're booked on the York offer holder day too. DD2 needs to decide whether to form York or Reading so hopefully this should help.

petitebleu · 12/01/2022 21:00
@petitebleu I am clearly super nosy but wondering what course your DC is applying to, that Herriot-Watt features amongst the others.
Modern languages. He didn't have a fifth choice really so went for a second Edinburgh-ish place as he loves the city.

@Eightytwenty DS has booked onto an offer day in February at York for politics.

It’s his aspirational choice and I think probably a bit too much of a stretch at AAB (he’s predicted ABB but could end up with one B is A/B and the other is B/C). But I want him to go to all the offer holder days as I want him to make his choice based on all the information possible.

York in person open day for DD on 29th of this month and then Sheffield on 12th Feb. Waiting to hear about Durham

Linneasweet · 13/01/2022 18:32

My DD have decided on unis based on the best rated ones for her particular course, we did "uni city tours" this summer which was great fun for me and hubby but didn't alter her view at all. I have asked her if she want to go to the offer days but she keep saying no as she's sure she won't change her mind on what uni to firm up. Personally I would prefer if she got put a foot in ANY uni before she actually starts but she doesn't seem bothered. Is it just me who thinks it's mad? She's predicted A*AA and need ABB for her first choice York (we live near London).

PurpleOranges · 13/01/2022 20:52

My daughter is starting to panic, she's only had one offer so far. Still waiting to hear from Cardiff (first choice), Bath,Bristol and Worcestershire. What should I say to reassure her? I'm new to this as she's the first in our family to (hopefully) go to university. Any advice please?

Linneasweet · 13/01/2022 21:02

@purpleoranges: my DD is waiting for Bath as well, read on here that they normally send their offers out late, end of January time I think.

PurpleOranges · 13/01/2022 21:04

Thank you, that's reassuring.

It very much depends what course they've applied for I think. How long ago did she apply?
TequilaShot · 13/01/2022 22:33

We contacted one of my sons choices a few days ago and they said that offers would be made 2-3 weeks from the UCAS deadline.

Laila657 · 14/01/2022 14:27

DC just got an offer from Bath a couple of days ago for Physics. Think they will start coming out now…. Still waiting for Durham.

Stillgoings · 16/01/2022 09:31

We are booked onto the York and Lancaster offer holder days on the 22nd and 29th with DS. He has the same offer from both of them and has to choose which will be his top. I hope it is obvious to him when he is there because at the moment he really doesn't know . He also has a slightly lower offer from Liverpool which he is planning to put as his reserve so we are waiting for them to release offer holder days as he hadn't been at all.

TequilaShot · 16/01/2022 09:42

@Stillgoings May I ask how you find out about the offer holder days? My son is holding an offer from Lancaster too. Thank you

Stillgoings · 16/01/2022 09:44

@TequilaShot he had an email from them with details of how to book

threestars · 16/01/2022 09:48

Do offers automatically show up on the UCAS portal, or do they come via email?
