Where are your DC still waiting to get offers (or rejections Sad ) from?

All offers are in here, except for... LSE.

DC not expecting to hear until March. It is going to be a long wait.

Durham
Not from personal experience but from everyone else’s.

Aragog · 25/01/2020 19:43

No offers yet for DD as she has to have interviews for every one. First interview was today - she's had a text to say she has been successful but the offer will follow. Original documents said 1-3 weeks after interview. Next interviews are the end of February. Last interview isn't until mid March. 5 in total. So it will be a while yet.

NormaSnorks · 25/01/2020 19:43

Durham (from previous experience)
and
Leeds (arts subjects)

ClerkMaxwell · 25/01/2020 19:55

St Andrews and Glasgow (social science). Expecting to wait until March for St Andrews.

Bombaybunty · 25/01/2020 19:58

DS got his application in early, October. Still waiting to hear from Birmingham. All others are in.

ThingDoer · 25/01/2020 20:01

Edinburgh. DD already had an offer for sociology at Glasgow.

fjreflycaramel · 25/01/2020 20:04

Birmingham took ages to tell my DD when she was applying. When they did it was to offer an unconditional which she turned down.

bizzieb33 · 25/01/2020 20:11

Imperial College London... applied early October!

MajesticWhine · 25/01/2020 20:18

DD has had all her offers except Durham.

Dearover · 25/01/2020 21:05

I'm sure that the further north you go, the worse it gets. Durham, Edinburgh & St Andrews seem yo be notoriously slow. Perhaps their admissions teams hibernate for winter and only start to think about new intakes when the frosts clear and daffodils start to poke up through the frozen ground.

Localher0 · 25/01/2020 22:40

Still waiting for Durham and Edinburgh. Got offers from Bristol, Exeter and Leeds within a week of applying back in early November. For History.

milliefiori · 25/01/2020 22:42

Still waiting on LSE, UCL and St Andrews.

FromIbizaToTheNorfolkMaud · 25/01/2020 22:44

Only waiting now for Edinburgh

NormaSnorks · 26/01/2020 07:45

I know Durham can probably fill their places many times over, but I don’t think their reputation for being slow does them any favours. DS interpreted it as inefficiency and a lack of interest in him. Chose a different uni as his first choice in the end.

StegosaurusRex · 26/01/2020 07:54

I only heard back from Bristol earth sciences yesterday

errorofjudgement · 26/01/2020 08:31

Durham! From previous threads on here I’ve warned DD it might be March before she hears,

But even worse are Drama schools!
Second round auditions aren’t until March, with final round in April if DD lucky enough to still be in the running by that stage.

NotEnoughTime · 26/01/2020 10:00

Another vote for Durham.

Alittewornout · 26/01/2020 10:04

Imperial and St Andrews funnily enough Dd git her Edinburgh offer first at the end of October, we didn’t expect a response til March from other people’s experiences. Good luck to all Dc still waiting.

idsisatwat · 26/01/2020 10:05

DD still waiting to hear from St. Andrews.

cheeseandpineapple · 26/01/2020 10:13

Durham has sent out offers for some subjects like geography. Maybe their overall policy is to wait until the 15 jan deadline for the most popular subjects and then assess applications at the same time before making offers. If I was an admissions tutor I would probably want to do that although as a student/parent it’s a bit frustrating when other offers are coming through in the meantime!

errorofjudgement · 26/01/2020 10:27

I wonder if Durham, LSE. St Andrews and a handful of others know they are a reserve for Oxbridge applicants, so make relatively few offers and wait until Oxbridge offers are out and accepted so they have a better idea of their firmed and insurance applicants before going on to make more offers.

Needmoresleep · 26/01/2020 10:46

After a Cambridge rejection DS was waiting on LSE, UCL, and Warwick in mid March. From student room reports, the LSE seemed to have a weekly meeting and as places became available, issued some acceptances on a Thursday, and rejections on a Friday. If it got to 4.00pm on a Friday and you had not heard anything, you were safe for another week.

In the end DS got an acceptance from LSE but rejections from the other two.

It was a major distraction when others were able to focus on mocks and A level preparation, plus talk about future accommodation etc. DD then did the same with 3 med school interviews in March following an early rejection. She and her two friends in a similar position hung out together trying to avoid having to explain to others that they had no idea where they were going.

My best wishes to those who are waiting.

Peaseblossom22 · 26/01/2020 10:53

Durham and St. Andrews , but Durham has always been late , when I went in the eighties I had to wait until March for the offer

NormaSnorks · 26/01/2020 11:01

From DS's experience, Durham offered a few 'dead cert' candidates (all A*s and super extra-curricular) almost immediately, but the rest waited until Feb/March.

homemadecommunistrussia · 26/01/2020 11:04

Still waiting for Edinburgh
