lazy

Definitely seperated at birth

I was always being told by the teachers that he was a lovely biy and that all his peers liked and respected him...and i saw that numerous times myself

But unless someone approaches him directly he struggles...so sat at a table full of people he knows with them discussing going out...unless they say to him 'do you want to come' he will assume he is not invited. When they will obviously assume he is coming

He got himself so worked up about going to a party alone in February (full of his friends) that he gave himself a migraine .

He is so brave though he really tries

I think with both our boys that people will see through the shyness, its obviously happened in the past...it just takes time for them and thats part of the problem they get worried and it gets worse

Dooby and bigblue Flowers for you both.

HSM, I don't miss my phone charger going walkabouts or having to restock the biscuit cupboard every couple of days.

DS just rang to ask about symptoms of meningitis as one of his flatmates has a rash. Hopefully reassured him that his flatmate is OK as he has no fever, neck stiffness, headache etc.

Excellent! Mine already has one or two (eg something like this https://www.getdigital.eu/Resistance-is-NOT-futile.html - elec eng meets trekkie) . Maybe another for xmas would be in order (though tbh xmas has come early this year!). However, just casually browsing 'ladies engineer t-shirts', I noticed something pleasing. A very few years ago doing this would yield a depressingly high proportion which were about male partners being engineers - today those were a small minority! Smile

I must have been a long time looking at engineering t-shirts, hopefully obv that was in reply to dingit

I dropped my dd off at uni 2 and a half hours away on Saturday. So far she seems to be loving it. I'm actually really shocked at how awful and sad I feel. When I got home yesterday I had a proper full on crying session. I thought I would feel better today but am still a bit wobbly.
Its partly I feel I have come to the end of an era and that as far as school days are concerned - that's it all over and then they neurotic mother in me feels sick about her being out drunk in a strange city with people she does not really know!!
It was only sheer exhaustion from the weekend that meant I actually slept last night - although it was broken sleep. I woke to a drunken text she had sent me at 2.30am telling me she was back safe and loved her new flatmates v much!!!
I'm desperate to text her to see how the Fresher Fayre went today but don't want to be a pain in the bum nuisance to her. So holding off ...... for now!!

I am so grateful that so far my daughter seems ok. My poor friend got home from her 4 hour trip back from dropping her daughter off, only to look at her phone as she was unlocking her front door to see lots of texts from her daughter begging her to turnaround and go back for her!!

The daughter has decided she does not want to stay. Last I heard a couple of hours ago was that the daughter was on a train coming home!

Errol and Dingit I'm going to order both those T shirts for DS - he's about to start electronic engineering.

Rufus it's so worrying when they are miles away and miserable. I'm dreading this being DS next week as he's also quite shy in addition to being a very light drinker and loathing clubbing! But very funny and interesting once you get to know him, just like your DS. Can he go and cook something so he spends time in the kitchen? Hopefully others will be in there too and conversation will just happen.

Errol Is your dd doing elec eng? When I did, back in the early 90s, I was one of only 4 females out of ~130 on the course!! Hopefully the ratio has improved a bit in the last OMG am I really that old??! quarter of a century. Grin

morvah

Thats a good idea

I should imagine he is still at the pot noodle stage but doing a stirfry would be better and take more time so he might see more people

Not quite there for the new board until Saturday. Think dd wishing the time away a bit but her brother keeps cuddling her and telling her he'll miss her!
