I'm speechless.

bobsmum · 22/06/2007 14:08

Children only start to learn colours at school ?

louii · 22/06/2007 14:08

Is that not normal at 2?? Pretty average if you ask me

hippocampus · 22/06/2007 14:10

Quick!!! someone get me the number for a special educational psychologist.

FFS

Piffle · 22/06/2007 14:10

Just like my ds1
I never felt the need to go to the papers or the psychologist though

bobsmum · 22/06/2007 14:11

I don't think puttin gshoes on the right feet is a sign of genius either! Must 've lowered the bar! (Or my kids are way up there!)

foxinsocks · 22/06/2007 14:11

the comments to that article (at the bottom) are brilliant

loads of peeps saying 'well my 2 yr old can do that'

snigger

Rhubarb · 22/06/2007 14:11

My boy has known difference between pink and purple since he was just 2 and pretty sure he is not a genius!

dd (4)can tell you the diff between pink and purple
One is made from mixing red and blue
the other from mixing red and white

apparently
did she learn this from a textbook for academic excellence?
nope she learned it from fingerpainting..

allgonebellyup · 22/06/2007 14:15

stop being jealous, people

the little girl is clearly very clever, leave her alone!

bobsmum · 22/06/2007 14:16

Of course she's very clever - lots of people (including me) don't think she's exceptional. hOpe she does well and grows up happy, but she's not unique - a lot of 2 year olds can do what she does.

Piffle · 22/06/2007 14:16

not saying she is not the next atom splitter.
saying that at age 2 Iq means sweet FA and is most certainly not newsworthy to anyone aside form her own parents and family.

Aloha · 22/06/2007 14:18

Most children only learn their colours at school???? How very odd. I think being able to count out ten blocks and hand them over is clearly clever for two, but two blocks? As for being able to put on shoes

coppertop · 22/06/2007 14:19

I also don't understand why the parents applied for her to join Mensa. A 2yr-old would get absolutely nothing out of it, other than their photo in the Daily Mail.

Aloha · 22/06/2007 14:20

I find it really odd that an expert in child intelligence should think it is extraordinary that a two year old knows about colours. Blimey, I think most two year old girls learn the colours pink and purple first! Try her on battleship grey and taupe and army green and she won't be so sharp!

Bless her, lovely little girl but a very odd article.

Piffle · 22/06/2007 14:20

takes far more talent to unzip a grobag, un popper a vest take off a nappy and smear poo in artistically impressive manner upon the walls IMO

if getting shoes on the right feet is a sign of intelligence, then my children are right thickos

mumto3girls · 22/06/2007 14:23

my dd3 can do alot of these things and talks in sentences and has done for months...she is 2.1.
She's not a genius she has the benefit of two parents and two elder sisters who all spend loads of time talking to and playing with her....and the speech is pure luck, dd1 was like it and dd2 was a real slow talker. They are academically about the same now...

bobsmum · 22/06/2007 14:23

lol piffle

At least they got a nice photo for their wall - she is gorgeous.
