General healthy eating and exercise thread with aim of losing weight / shaping up. Aim to eat 10 portions of fruit and veg a day, and do more exercise. No bizarre diets please. Weigh in day is Monday (you don't have to weigh in but we will punish you by with-holding stickers). Diet coke will be frowned upon.

just had lovely long-lost friend over with her 3 boys, plus my two boys and another friend turned up with her 2 boys..Shock

My carpet is covered with train track, the bedrooms are full of lego and the dining table is full of the remnants of a very fine victoria sandwich...Blush

we did go and get baby peas and backberries from the allotment to scoff too though.

we have jut had a tremndous thunderstorm which is nice but sad because it means it is too cloudy to see the perseids meteor shower tonight :(
We wanted to take the boys up into the open countryside to watch and have a wee fire bucket :(

Commiserations on disrupted sleep, fran. No fun.

After starting off with 4 portions of f&v yesterday, I went on to have

spinach and leek pie and spicy houmus
spinach and tomato pasta
salad

a good 10 since it was all home made and packed full of veg.

elliemental · 13/08/2010 11:10

Avi and Kook, your boys are absolute cards!

I think I may have slept too long today - I've woken up and it seems to be November outside...Hmm

Which is annoying as it is my day with the boys and we wanted to go to nice stately homne gardens with ace park (where I could plot up under a tree and loaf and read and watch the world go by - while closely supervising the boys, naturally...Hmm)

we did see some shooting stars last night - we just did it in the back garden instead :)

The weather is SHITE isn't it? I drove through a neighbouring village at 9.30am today and the street lights were on because it was so dark. WTF. I mean really, WTF?!

I had a nocturnal toddler last night as well Fra. I think it's his teeth. He came in our bed and then just out of nowhere he started wittering on about the number two and saying 'one, two', like he was counting something, no idea what though. I just growled at him 'stop talking and go to sleep otherwise you'll go back in your cot.' It done the trick.

He then woke up bright as a button at 7 whilst dh and I had tired and puffy faces that looked like a couple of smacked arses.

pointydog · 13/08/2010 16:20

oh yes, shite weather. So dreary.

g'fruit juice
slice toast with spiced-up houmus
apricot yoghurt

elliemental · 13/08/2010 19:57

sweetcorn

mushrooms
onion
(in thai curry)

I'm actually cold.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 13/08/2010 20:05

Tis chilly here too Ellie.

banana on toast
1 choc biscuit
2 ryvitta, cherry toms, cucumber, olives and grapes

Guadalupe · 13/08/2010 20:05

Gawd yes it is cold. I am glad we are not camping atm. Preparing for our northern jaunt and I think I will take plenty of warm things!

Bad food today.

Cornflakes with castor sugar
Blueberry muffin
tea loads of

salmon pasta for dinner with spinach though so not hopeless.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 13/08/2010 20:09

Hi Guad Smile

I've just been browsing on notonthehighstreet.com and I want one of EVERYTHING. I neither need or can afford one of everything, but still ............

Infact at those prices I can just afford about one thing Grin

elliemental · 13/08/2010 20:09

where are you going Guad?

I am so relieved we got our week in cornwall before the weather turned.

We have spent another day walking int he rain before giving up and spending a frtune of dvds and cds etc for an indoor day.

I am also very relieved not to have spent a fortune on festibval tickets this year. but a bit sad too ins pite of it.

Guadalupe · 13/08/2010 20:25

I am not buying winter things yet! Though I did shrink my favourite camping cardigan, it was a lovely russet Jigsaw one and now it fits ds2. Bloody annoying.

We are going to lake district for a few days on a farm and then up to isle of skye for a night and then over to Harris for a week. It's the next one up from the castaway island so looks lovely.

Could be squally winds all week of course but despite our tiny wooden house looking like a shed it actually has a sauna and a hacuzzi and underfloor heating and looks very swedish so I care not about the weather. Taking wetsuits too as apparently north atlantic gets a bit chilly. Grin

I expect to see eagles and whales and will be very disappointed if I don't.

CoupleofKooks · 13/08/2010 20:27

hello guad, been thinking about you, how are you doing?

crap food here as well although a bloody nice bubble and squeak with salad and coleslaw for lunch
sat outside under a gazebo and shivered
got drenched every time we stepped out of the house
took dses to a nice quiet sewing shop where ds2 shouted "i like DRUMMING beCAUSE - it MOVES me" again and again and again and again
this is a drumming rhythm that a friend of ours taught ds1 last week
apparently ds2 was listening also hmm](he has a crush on this friend)

i bought calico and a book on embroidery
i am going to attempt to learn to embroider (my grannie was a fab artist embroiderer)

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 13/08/2010 20:27

well I will see eagles and whales as they seem to be painted all over the inside of the shed, owner is an artist, but the reall thing would be good.

Maybe I will just get to eat and read a lot.

CoupleofKooks · 13/08/2010 20:29

i saw a heron and a woodpecker today
and attended the world's dullest talk on birds of prey

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 13/08/2010 20:29

eating and reading a lot is VERY good
i dream of eating and reading a lot

Guadalupe · 13/08/2010 20:29

am okay thanks, feeling a bit better. Herbs have helped.

I love bubble and squeak. God I am hungery. Dh is late.

Guadalupe · 13/08/2010 20:31

talks on birds of prey are dull aren't they?

we went to the ird of prey centre at easter and I skived the shows and stared out golden the eagles round the back instead. I was giving it psychic commands to give me a feather but it wouldn't oblige.

elliemental · 13/08/2010 20:35

Guad, that holiday sounds lovely. I did lots of reading and eating on mine..(and boogieboarding!)

we are going on t'boat later this month but the Leeds-Liverpool canal is short of water Hmm so we aren't allowed to go through locks on our own :( which may mean sitting at foot of a lock for days until another boat comes...(more reading and eating, I guess!)

Guadalupe · 13/08/2010 20:41

Really??? I've never heard of that! How annoying. Dh is desperate to do a canal boat holiday but I don't feel comfortable with ds2 yet. Had a scary moment with dd in a lock when she was three. Gave me nightmares for years.

I am really looking forward to the holiday. We always get cottages in the south west and once in yorkshire but this will be a completely different landscape. Long drive though.

pointydog · 13/08/2010 21:26

FRiends of mine recently returnd from Harris. Lovely white sands and turquoise sea - just lots of rain and wind! The shed sounds great though.

At the marvellous historical theme park in la vendee, there was The Most Amazing birds of prey show EVER. It was utter terrific.
