Oh God yes, Yank, Bakewell is gorgeous. Stay away from the fish and chips and Bakewell tart though, to die for. We didn't stop in Buxton, but it looked lovely.

Alice, what sort of DVDs/Books do you like? I have loads I could send you? You need to rest up, I know you must be sick of hearing it, but you do. Just imagine the gorgeous squishy newborn thighs of your baby boy.

Oh God, I have gone all broody now.

hellsbelles · 26/05/2010 18:16

yank - surely they should know that stressing you out with all this pestering is not going to help? Hopefully Buxton will be the break you need.

Alice....I too am going to really be shouting at you about bedrest. Your little one is at a good weight and stage now but you know that each and every extra day that he stays put makes it that bit easier. Please please do essential stuff only. Are there any friends that can take DD to all these things (or can she miss them for a little)? I know it feels so hard to stay put but you know it's worth it.

Anyway - I've been pretty good foodwise today...1 slice of wholemeal toast for breakfast....chicken salad for lunch. Salmon & pesto and bulgar wheat salad for supper...though DD suddenly decided she loved salmon and scoffed most of mine!

I'm off to pilates soon and I'm going to allow myself 1 glass of one and a few bits of dark chocolate when I get back (what a wild one I am!!)

Mmmmm bakewell tart. Am i right that it is different from what you expect though?

I love trash Lizzy

I felt a bit broody in the hosp last week actually, seeing the really tinies

Alicetheinvisible · 26/05/2010 18:20

Helles - my friends have been taking her to playgroups everyday this week, i just felt i needed to go out

Double - no ideas then i'm afraid. Ask Bella she is italian and therefore must know some secret to fab lasagne

UnifyingLeptonsAndQuarks · 26/05/2010 18:27

Apparently ds wont eat tea cos he hates it. Apparently doesnt like the cake either. normally it'll be a long hungry night. But he is so tired he is in tears. PLus tea was an hour later then normal tea time. So deal - he get's it reheated for breakfast. Has to get in pjs and can have what he would normally have for breakfast for tea now.

Its the end of the world "ds"

UnifyingLeptonsAndQuarks · 26/05/2010 18:34

Double - add a very liberal shaking of dried basil. Is adds a lot to the tomato flavour and is an old wives aphrodesiac.

Yep traditional bakewell has no icing and no cherry on the top. Mr Kippling lies when he calls them bakewell tarts.

I make a cheese sauce to layer my lasgana with. its lovely, fattening and full of cheese. Havent made it in ages, needless to say

Alicetheinvisible · 26/05/2010 18:34

Sounds fair to me

Alicetheinvisible · 26/05/2010 18:35

I make cheese sauce for mine too.

hellsbelles · 26/05/2010 18:42

Alice - sorry I didn't mean to sound like a nag...I am just worried about you. I promise you that this will seem like such a short space of time in retrospect (though I know it's the most boring and frustrating thing in the world).

ULQ - sounds like a sensible solution!

jetcat · 26/05/2010 18:43

20 press ups I can barely manage three half ones

Hope you are still on that sofa alice re the meal planning, i have the ideas and recipes, i then just struggle to concentrate long enough to actually make a shopping list, and by the time it comes to actually going shopping - i am knackered And then usually the meals dont actually get made

I think, though, that i have resigned myself to upping the ADs, as i cant go on like this

Crispy - yup you are our resident athlete I can only dream of being as fit as you!

No you can't moan Kerry . I have to do them so tough. I have the strongest thighs on MN....

UnifyingLeptonsAndQuarks · 26/05/2010 19:00

hmmm, I hit post and got a weird preview thing. sorry for double posting.

UnifyingLeptonsAndQuarks · 26/05/2010 19:01

You try doing a sit spin and sit spin prep. Its evil with a capital E!

Alicetheinvisible · 26/05/2010 19:09

I would usually have very strong thighs - nothing better than riding for your inner thighs surprised they are not completely wobbly by now tbh. Can't wait to get back on my horses......

I buggered my knees up cycling Kerry so not sure but your butt muscles will clench nicely.
I would like a personal trainer. when I can afford it I am going to go for 1 -1 K boxing training...

Ouch Quarks.... no thanks..

UnifyingLeptonsAndQuarks · 26/05/2010 19:21

yep probably, just like running does. moderation is the key to anything.

Hence why i am taking a break for two weeks and might skip friday's training session. I have ice burns down both my arms, more bruises then i care to count and it hurts to walk down the stairs. All self inflicted though. should have 1. kept my bloody eyes open and 2. gone back to training more gently.
Because it is a really good idea to go from no training to 10 1/2 hours training/week in 2 weeks

UnifyingLeptonsAndQuarks · 26/05/2010 19:23

intersting x-post mitts. ds is asleep on the sofa. he took himself to 'bed' (pillow and sleeping bag) no story, no tucking in. Just crashed. poor kid.

UnifyingLeptonsAndQuarks · 26/05/2010 19:34

Is it me or is it cold? I am freezing today. Have been most of the day.

Lizzylou · 26/05/2010 19:36

My quads (that is the muscle on the front of your thigh, isn't it?) are very strong and bulk up v easily, it is the back of my thighs that are horrific. At the moment I have huge muscles on the front of my thighs and wobbly cottage cheese like mess at the back.
Hate squats, bu they do work.
