Not really. It says on the label substitute in recipes on the basis that one level teaspoon of sweetner gives the equivalent sweetness of one level teaspoon of sugar.

Think I'll just use sugar.

bellavita · 17/05/2010 10:18

Norma - does that mean in coffee and tea? rather than in baking? Tbh, I would just use normal sugar.

Hells - what a quandry! Are there any local nurseries you could use for a bit?

Right, I had better go and get showered and ready for work.

It says in baking Bella as it's intended for baking but they don't make it very clear! Oh hold on it says can be used to replace sugar on a spoon to spoon basis so I guess I would it be 6oz.....sod it I'll just try it!

Lizzylou · 17/05/2010 10:27

Just done some crafting stuff with DS2, poor thing he was desperate to go to preschool and the CM's, couldn't understand why he couldn't get out of the car at DS1's school.
He is covered in spots and hates me putting the calamine lotion on.

He is now having milk and biscuits and watching a DVD.

Norma, I used to bake with canderel and splenda. I would say that they weigh loads less than sugar and also seem sweeter. I would use half the weight that is required for sugar. Or alternatively if recipe says 4oz of sugar, use 2oz of sugar and 1oz of the sweetener if that makes sense?

Bella, hope you're having a relax after all of that entertaining

Fanny, don't be you have every right to be fuming.

Hells, your poor Childminder. Alice's idea is a good one, there must be firms/agencies that have temp Nanny's you could look into? That way you are not hurting anyone's feelings. Have you a friend who uses a Nanny who would take DD for a day or so?

Had pineapple and blueberries with nat yog and will have prawns and smoked salmon on rice cakes for lunch. Dinner is lamb kebabs and salad with minty yog.

Then spinning tonight, I think I will be glad to get out of the house by then!

Hey Jet

Double, I love dried fruit/nuts etc. I have breakfast at about 9.30am once I have done school run. I am the same, can't stand it first thing.

NormaSknockers · 17/05/2010 10:47

Lizzy it's so much lighter isn't it? I've gone with half the amount of sweetner as it looks about the same as the caster sugar - will see what happens

I'm trying to do some housework, keep up with work emails (Business Partner is so crap on the computer!) and entertain DS2, Double.
Have cleaned fridge and downstairs loo so far.

Walking by the river sounds nice, though.

Brazil nuts are fab for your skin SAF.

good luck with the baking Norma - though i am sure you wont need it and it will take delicious! I think all this baking has inspired me - plus the fact Bella gave me a lovely jar of jam that her DH made I may just have to make some jam or chutney or similar - i have been collecting all my jars (Bella - do you want your's back, as it has a lovely lid)

just need to find some low fat recipes. My old foster mum used to make the most gorgeous tomato chutney - and i have yet to find anything that tastes similar It cant be that hard to make

saf - well done on starting to eat breakfast - i am trying to make sure i eat something as well, even if it is just a yougurt

ooh nearly forgot. Good news this end, we have just got funding for a new computer at home for junior - just need to decide on which one I know she wants a netbook - smaller so easier to carry, but i think the screen may be a bit small for her when she is doing work on word documents etc I am sure i will have fun trying to decide though

Lizzylou · 17/05/2010 12:20

Jet - fab news on your funding!

SAF - very organised. Planning does seem to be the key to getting these diets to work

Thank you all for the very practical advice. I am being a huge wuss about the whole situation as DD is very wary of those she isn't familiar with (quite rightly I suppose!) and so I am really worrying about leaving her somewhere new.

So I am going to wait to talk to my nanny and try and glean any kind of timetable...if it's just a couple of weeks then we can make do and I'll just have to work at night and during her sleeps. If it's longer then I will have to start looking at the alternatives.

Lizzy - hark at your crafting! Very impressive

Is trills flying today? Fingers crossed the ash doesn't get her again.

jetcat · 17/05/2010 13:07

i think they turned up this morning lizzy while i was taking mini to nursery. Have rearranged delivery for wednesday Do they fit?

Saf - i just have a yoghurt with fruit, as that means i dont have to take a tablet with it. I then have mid morning snack (banana, slice of toast - or, if i am feeling extravagent - a fudge bar) That keeps me going till lunch

Hells - i hope you manage to get it all sorted, and your nanny recovers soon
