Mitts - thanks for that[smile

first - i like, but i think my hair may be too thick?

second - i have tried something like that before, and it looked a bit odd as i seem to have more hair on one side I love the colours though

third - ooh i like that, but wonder if it would suit my fat round face I would love to go that short though

fourth - as above

fifth - i really like that, my hair isnt that curly though, so would need a perm i think

i know this is prob boring the pants off you all, but i really appreciate your help

Gigi - thats great news Have fun

Alice - thats a great question, i look forward to reading the replies

Alicetheinvisible · 14/05/2010 19:47

Jet - the only problem with going short is that you need very good cheekbones. Your pic isn't very clear, so i am not commenting on you! But even at my size 8 thinnest i never had cheekbones.

Not as sad as being stuck in on a friday night and not getting sloshed though.....

hellsbelles · 14/05/2010 19:54

sorry I'm way behind...

Jet...great to see your lovely face. And I know you hate it but the colour is lovely so I"m glad to hear you are just going to do a bit of colour rather than all over.

Mitts- you clever thing...i reckon would be perfect..and the colour is pretty similar as well. Wow.

Bella - I'm inspired to try the pork thanks to you and Fanny.

Bitter - your children are so cute...and I love the expression on DD's face. What a happy little lady.

Gigi - that is so brilliant! I'm made up for you.

Alice I think it's a combination of all three...but hair can make the most difference quickly in my opinion. And it always stuns me what a difference make-up can make. I used to be a no make up sort of girl...but alas...age has meant that is no longer an option...even so I still stick to a small amount and it has a big big effect (in fact I wish it didn't make such a difference iyswim).

And double....well done you. Can we help plan your outfit for the hot date?

Thanks for all your comments re my friend. I know it's still horrid but it just makes a change for things like this to go the right way rather than the wrong...and she just sounded so positive.

hellsbelles · 14/05/2010 19:55

err - meant to say number 1 would be perfect!

jetcat · 14/05/2010 19:55

no cheekbones here either Alice

So, if i go to haidressers and ask for a shaggy wavy bob with a sideswept fringe they will know what i mean? And i think i will spread it out a bit, get the cut just before i meet yank, and then the colour just before june.

thanks for all that, will shut up about it now

I have had a lovely afternoon, took mini out to a huge playing field (football pitches) with her frisbee and football. Had a lovely hour or so just messing about. We havent done that since i got rid of the car, as the one we normally go to is a car ride away, but we pass this one on the way to her nursery school, and she is always asking me to go. She is now sleeping flat out, as i had her running all over the place

both my DC's are fabulous, even if i am the only one in the world that ever thought it, I would still be right.

Alice - I am fat, not particularly fabulous in any one department but i got an entire thread dedicated to how great i (apparently) looked.
I would say that confidence is the key. It doesn't matter what you wear, how your hair looks, what size dress your wearing, if you are confident and happy then everyone else will notice you.

and even if you aren't confident, pretend to be. you will get a lot of reactions from people and that will help build you a real confidence to replace the plastic one.

jetcat · 14/05/2010 19:59

Yank - sorry, i completely missed your post Yes, it is getting a bit better. I seem to be having visits from AF every 8 weeks (every other weigh in) instead of 3-4 a year. My doc wants me to go back for more scans, as the last one i had (not counting pregnancy) was years back, but it was awful and i am not keen to repeat. I do hope to have at least one more little baby if i can pull myself together so at least i can hope that it will be easier if i am at least ovulating

Gigi speaks the truth....and with confidence you can just fake it till you make it (or whatever the correct saying is).

so Jack Bauer beckons...

Tracey forgot to say - my AF took ages to start - I think it was nine or ten months PP (and I was bf too though it was when I started dropping some feeds it finally came). I agree it was such a flippen nightmare having all the PMS symptoms for so long.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 14/05/2010 20:08

Evening all.

I definitely am drinking Gin, now

GiGi, that's fab news!

DH is working tonight, so I am too drinking on my own.

Saf, you're gorgeous, and so is your DS. I agree he is a very likeable little boy.

DeFluffy · 14/05/2010 20:10

SAF re the mood altering!

Re bankruptcy my friends did recently can offer some advice but not right now got to interact with dp before he dumps me.

jet - those pics are lovely, any would be fab and definitely a fringe too, when I got one done it took years off me apparently She did think I was 40 though to start with

Alice - hair I think, plus an image consultant came into work and she said obviously the basics - clean, ironed clothes, light perfume, light make up etc but importantly wear one thing each day really different or eye catching - a beautiful bangle or necklace or scarf etc.

Gigi - fantastic news and you'll be a fab SM.

Have you all gone back to RL?

YanknCock · 14/05/2010 20:47

Gigi, that is fantastic news!!

Alice, my own answer for that is: a person looks good when they work with what they have rather than trying to look like everyone else. Not overly made up, just accentuating good bits. Wearing clothes that fit and flatter them rather than being 'on trend'. Hair that looks natural and shiny.

jet, that's good to hear you had improvement with periods. I was taking an interesting cocktail of herbal stuff which seemed to help before I got pregnant. I've also taken metformin which I think I'd like to do again once I am not breastfeeding (though I'm sure someone said to me I could take it and still BF). I obsessively charted everything on fertility friend for 3 years before I got pregnant, and things got better once I dropped XH in favour of DH2 Stress of being in a bad marriage probably wasn't helping anything!

Speaking of which.....tomorrow it is exactly 3 years since the fateful Tuesday night when I went out after work with MrCock and two other colleagues from our office, and it ended with me dragging him home and having my wicked way (after 3 hours of chatting and another bottle of wine).

Alicetheinvisible · 14/05/2010 20:47

I am here, hopefully loitering in case someone shows up

You will all descend as soon as i go for a bath won't you hmm?

TotalChaos · 14/05/2010 20:52

jet - sorry didn't answer your question about shred this morning, didn't see it as I had to dash for bus to work. you look lovely on the photo on your profile. agree with lizzy about finding a good local hairdresser.

saf - a friend of mine went bankrupt a few years back, it really didn't seem too traumatic for her (she was living in HA house which probably makes things simpler), and she got discharged within 9 months.

gigi - good news re:bloke/moving in

hells - glad to hear there is some good news about your friend

yank - sorry you still have a bad ear. what sort of drops did GP prescribe/nosy? my ear is still blocked, have tried oil and otex drops with no success, so will have to face up to going to docs and seeing if they will syringe it.

oh and getting back to the Shred, jet - I tried it (Mitts kindly sent me her spare copy, she somehow ended up with 2), but I found it very hard, and that it was putting me off exercise, so I gave up after about a week.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 14/05/2010 20:57

I hope not, Alice.

To answer your question (warning:this is going to sound poncy) I think it is all about a persons energy. (I did warn you )

I think if someone is a happy and confident person, comfortable in their own skin, then you notice the good points.

There are 2 types of people, drains and radiators and the drains could look like supermodels but you would focus on their negative points.

Also agree with Yank, that it is about accentuating good points.

I have good shoulders and eyes, but a stomach that looks like an uncooked tiger loaf.

Saf thought I was tiny, I am actually short and dumpy.

I'm not saying I am fabulous looking (far from it!) but the fact that we got on so well, IMHO made her focus on the positives.

(That and the envelope of used notes I passed her under the table )

See, I told you it was poncy

TotalChaos · 14/05/2010 20:57

Bitter - I looked but couldn't find any pictures of you on your profile, did you take them off???

SAF - one of the things that has helped me lose 2 stone is eating breakfast religiously. If I skip meals my blood sugar goes crazy, and I am more prone to stuff myself.

Chaos, I'm in the background of the pic of DS.

I haven't taken a good photo since about 1987, so that's the best you are going to get

Now all tell me how yummy my DH is - He is 6 foot 3 you know

Definitely punching above my weight - it must be my housekeeping skills
