mouseface, don't beat yourself up too much. I think it's a matter of retraining yourself to have non-food rewards/comfort items when you are having a shit time. When I make some headway on that myself, I will let you know!

SAF, scales are definitely a good thing, as is breakfast. I used to be a non-breakfast person, but now can't do without it. The PCOS has a lot to do with insulin resistance, so I also work on making sure I have some protein with every meal/snack, and try not to go too long without eating something so I can keep blood sugar from spiking and dropping.

DI, yay for your date! Sounds like a gem.

Alice, am having cartoon-like visions of you arguing with underpants.

hells, great news for your friend!

Mitts, I answer emails in my head but forget to type them out, then am confused when no one ever writes to me again.

Bitter, is a Wei a weimaraner? Are you breeding them? Can we have one too please?

tracey, Leo is 8.5 months and I've not gotten a period either, but with PCOS I never had regular ones anyway so god knows when it will come back. Have wanted to try threading for a while, not really sure where to have it done and how much to pay for it though, any advice? I normally get them waxed and try to keep it up with plucking.

bella, mmmmmm cake.....

GP gave me more drops. Reckons I have a viral infection that I just need to get over, and that my ear is clogged with wax and that is why I can't hear. Weird that it came on at same time as the infection though She also told me to go get my eyes checked as I said I'd had blurred vision this week. I think the place I got lasered has free aftercare for life so will phone them up next week and try to get seen. Told her about the nosebleed as well and she agreed it was probably due to pseudoephedrine.

Going to try these drops, they are stronger stuff to remove wax....ewwwww.....have never had a problem with this before and now I am gunky ear girl.

jetcat · 14/05/2010 18:30

saf - i will watch while you pick Bella's brain, as i would love to learn to bake lovely things as well

Alice, i like both Frederick and Fred - tis a lovely distinguished name

Lizzy - second a quick run, but even marathon runners have a day off

Tracey - does it hurt having them threaded? And for me this weekend - my final essay (on this course anyway) on Othello and The Rover

Well, i have finally done it and put up a piccie of me on my profile. It will only be there for tonight for helpful suggestions re hair cut and colour (not cos i dont think you were helpful before) I chickened out of putting it on my FB page

jetcat · 14/05/2010 18:35

Yank, i saw before you mentioned you have PCOS - as do i. Have you tried the vaniqua cream - i have had it a couple of months now and it is working wonders

mouse, i second Yank. We all slip up, trick is not to think, oh well, i have had one biscuit/burger/plate of chips etc i may as well have another - but to think oh well, tomorrows another day

Saf, crack open the alcohol. DC are in bed and it is Gin O'clock

Jet, your hair is a lovely colour, why on earth would you want to change it?

Yank, yes Weimeraner. We are not breeders exactly but we are going to have a litter out of her I think. FIL breeds Setters, so DH knows what he is doing.

I'll see if I can get a pic up on my profile.

And I am halfway through my first G and T and have just realised I forgot the G!

I am truly a very stupid person.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 14/05/2010 18:48

Ah, cross posts saf, I must have put my gin in yours

bellavita · 14/05/2010 18:53

Tracey, I am doing Slow-roasted pork belly & chicory with mashed and roast potatoes, braised red cabbage, carrots, brocs, green beans and apple sauce. Lemon posset and profiteroles for afters. Dips and stuff to start.

Fanny first did this pork recipe and then I did it - it is so easy.

jetcat · 14/05/2010 18:54

ID - i think it was saf before (or may have been fluff) that a bob would turn into a triangle shape - and a sleek bob would mean straightening it each day - not sure i would be able to manage that.

I know i am thinking chin length - does that only leave a bob? And i know people always say my colour is lovely, but to me it is neither one thing or the other, and i think i just need a bit of a change of image. I think i am leaning away from a total colour though, and just having high/low lights put in (not that i know the difference between the two)

at the G & T without the gin!

jetcat · 14/05/2010 18:55

Bella - i am positivly drooling now

Sounds good saf.

I have photos! You can see them on my profile.

YanknCock · 14/05/2010 19:16

Bitter, they are such gorgeous dogs. I've always had labrador crosses myself.

SAF, I think you do have to watch portion sizes more when you are doing the 'little and often' eating. Everyone says oatmeal sticks with you, but I don't find that it does due to being all carbs. I'd be better off having an egg on toast in the morning, or my usual toast with peanut butter to get in some fat and protein.

Jet, have not tried vaniqua! Most of my extra hair is on the lower half so I just get waxed once a month and it is getting less hairy with repeated waxing. I have one chin hair that appears but am lucky my 'stache and sideburns aren't too bad. Have you found any of the PCOS stuff has gotten better as you've lost weight?

MitsubishiWarrioress · 14/05/2010 19:16

Any of these Jet?

this?
this?
I think this is gorgeous

Gigantaur · 14/05/2010 19:17

hello all you lovely ladies.

only skimmed through and just though i would add that as Dp is circumcised i totally agree

can i just tell you all some pretty fab news? not quite as fab as reality's wedding or her dp beng a rock star, or as great as Yank getting some flowers off Bof bustill. its got me well and truly chuffed.

Dp has today agreed to move in with me properly. properly properly. like full time properly.
He stays here when he hasn't got his kids but he has them bck at his place and when i dont have my two i go back with him. but today he has agreed that his life s now here with me and so he is going to sort his place out, speak to an estate agent and sort out either seling up or renting it out.

and from now o he will be having the kids here.
I am sooo happy. and a little bit scared at the fact im going to be a proper step mum. Im only just managing to screw my own kids up sufficiently.
So it is safe to say that I am very very happy indeed.

Im off to meet up with the lovely Brighton girls tomorrow for a yummy meal.

I am hoping that if i drink enough Vodka It will kill this horrible cold of mine because at the moment i feel like pooh.

Oh and I am very of £7 shoes. I have massive clown sized feet so im lucky to buy shoes at all let alone bargainous beautifull ones

FiveGoMadInDorset · 14/05/2010 19:20

Gigi - that is fantastic news

Bella - your lunch as always sounds lovely.

I have applied yet again for another job so fingers crossed for me, in Waterstones, great hours and would just add a bit of financial stability.

DeFluffy · 14/05/2010 19:25

Jet - twas me re triangle.

Was just about to write you could try a 'pob' my friend has one, its short at the back as SAF says then chin length bob to front, very stylish, but you would need to straighten. Pob after 'Posh' (spice) and 'bob' put into google if you're not sure.

But I still think you should work with your hair and not against, you need someone to look at it and work out what's right for the texture, weight etc. You could always go for consultation at posh type place then take the style (pic in mag or just description) to a cheaper place?

FOR ALL THOSE WHO LOVE A GOOD FUNNY HORROR - Drag me to hell IS ON SKY MOVIES TONIGHT AT 8PM AND 9PM.

bellavita · 14/05/2010 19:26

Gigi - how fab

Fanny, it is down to you we are having the slow-roasted belly (it was you that gave me the recipe). Channels good vibes for getting the job.

Hells, what fantastic news about your friend. You mus tbe made up.

Alicetheinvisible · 14/05/2010 19:32

Jet - after seeing your pic, i would stick to my original advice, maybe get a long sideswept fringe too to frame your face better. Agree with highlight/lowlight ideas rather than full on colouring.

Yank - DD tells me she has 'bunky' ears

Double - i did at your "Fuck me, i need a wife!"

Eyebrow threading - i saw someone having theirs done in Debenhams a couple of weeks ago, was very quick!

Feeling a bit this evening. DD fell asleep in the car, so enjoyed some me time doing the horses, but since being at home and checking my FB i feel all fat and miserable. Basically i have recently had an influx of 'friend suggestions' of lots of people i went to pony club with. Seeing so many of their photos, with them look slim, leggy, sleek and downright gorgeous has made me feel fat and frumpy.

So, my question to you lovelies is:

What makes an average, plain looking person look pretty good? Nice hair? Make up? Good Skin? Nice clothes? Good figure? Or is it a case of pulling everything together? What would you start with? I know everyone would have a personal answer to this?

Alicetheinvisible · 14/05/2010 19:37

Oh, and i had a giant bowl of pasta, no Burger King

Lizzylou · 14/05/2010 19:42

Just running on to say goodnight, have to interact with DH, he was out last night, I am out tomorrow...

Steak was lovely, didn't run as it peed it down.

Jet, I think a shaggy wavy bob with a sideswept fringe, I stick with honey/toffee colour as well, you look like your kids! Or they look like you, lovely.

Gigi, that is lovely, how exciting

Alice um I think it is different on different people. I always notice hair, and clothes. I would love to be more groomed. But I think some people just have "it", a bit of a sparkle that draws people to them.

I am not one of those people!

Be good!
