It will be Frederick, but Fred for everyday, not keen on Freddie. My Sis wanted Freddie if she had a boy after Freddie Flintoff It is a family name in both DH and our families so would fit well. DH likes Frederick Charles (not bothered about that bit tbh, but it is his middle name)

My lovely, lovely Grandad was a Fred and he was a Gentleman and totally delicious human being.. so go for it.
