For people who like to eat a lot of fruit and veg but also need to lose weight. We suggest 10 portions of fruit and veg a day, plus at least 10 mins of extra exercise. Weigh in day is Monday. No Atkins stuff or anything like that please , just healthy eating and exercising.

Don't worry Fra, I am eating enough to not be hungry. For the first few days I was hungry all of the time and I would stalk up and down in the kitchen wanting to eat something. However once I got over that I think my stomach has shrunk and I don't need to eat so much to feel full.

I'm not a big fan of breakfast, but I do make sure I have something. I'm also making sure I have one good meal a day, and that is my evening meal.

My sil goes for revision surgery on her gastric bypass at the weekend. It's so tempting to do something like that, but I know I never would, so my aim is to keep losing weight the conventional way while she loses weight having a stomach the size of a walnut!

Guadalupe · 10/06/2010 12:49

gastric bypass sounds horrible!

I skipped the juice man as it was cold and had a pret yoga bunny with a cappucino instead. Delicious.

CoupleofKooks · 10/06/2010 15:32

guad i do like your use of the word biff as a verb

just had very hard work morning taking dses + friend's child to a home ed thing
the activities were great very hands on for the parents, while ds2 need various things doing and i just hate that feeling of being too busy and torn in two to meet anyone's needs 100%
i really don't know how people with large families do it, i struggle with 2
the nadir was ds2 desperately needing a sleep but i couldn't leave ds1 + friend until lunchtime, by which time ds2 was exhausted, and cried for 20 mins while i pushed him in the buggy
then when i got back i had been longer than i expected so ds1 was all nervy and worried that i had 'gone'

oh well all done now
i don't know where ds1 thinks i have 'gone' when he frets about me
i have asked him and he says he thinks i might just run off and leave him
i say no way would i ever do that
he says perhaps i am just pretending to be nice

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/06/2010 20:34

It's horrible when you're doing lots of things, but feel like you're not doing any of them well. Put it down to being one of those days, that's what I do.

Banana
2 crackers with cream cheese, cherry toms, cucumber sticks and grapes.
apple
choc and peanut cookie
chicken schnitzel with carrots and green beans. Twas nice but it needed a sauce. I love sauce with my food.

7 f&v and a walk to and from Toddler group and a walk around town pushing the biffa (ds) this afternoon.

I have EVIL ovulation pain tonight and it's making me grumpy.

CoupleofKooks · 10/06/2010 20:52

i don't like food that is too dry lemur - i agree with sauce
but not ketchup or anything like that [horror]

guad i want that now
i want that every day
pret have some really nice things don't they?

ooh just remembered i have a graze box waiting in cupboard
hoorah
now how to eat it without ds2 the night owl (was up til 10.45 pm last night ) seeing
he goes crazy when he sees one shouting "RAYERS!" (raisins) "RAYYYYYYEEEEEERS!"

I stayed in a fancy hotel last autumn and had their bircher (is it bircher?) muesli for breakfast and it was so delicious. Yoghurt and cream, I think, with soaked apple and sultanas and nuts. Uuuhhh, it was heaven

CoupleofKooks · 10/06/2010 20:58

cereal strawberries blueberries bananas raisins seeds = 4
this was the nicest breakfast i have had for ages, i love summer fruit

cheese and pickle rolls
carrot sticks, tomatoes, pepper = 1

(shared) apple, crumpet = 0.5

such a nice pasta dish - tagliatelle with roasted veg, pesto and mozarella
i made 2 days worth and we nearly ate the second lot tonight as it was so good = 2

graze box tba

7.5 so far
and a load of walking round the park, carrying ds2, the steep bits of which made my calves burn

pointydog · 10/06/2010 21:52

chocolate. I've just had quarter of a bar of green and black's milk chocolate

ThePinkOne · 10/06/2010 22:23

'it is a short phase to be treasured' I still have to call her Dorothy

I swam last night. About 100 lengths but half size pool (I think it's 13 m). And ran tonight. Really didn't want to but DH suggested it and he was right! Glad I did. Only a quick 20 minute one but it all helps right?

Yoga bunny looks good. I also like sauce.

Poor DS1 Frann. He does fret so DD always looks quite surprised when I pick her up from pre-school! Like I might not come

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/06/2010 13:14

lol at Dorothy

I hosted another coffee morning today so the house really does look like a bomb site. They're a bit like an open house thing so you never know who is going to turn up, and today an old friend from years ago turned up. It was lovely to see her again and she had a gorgeous 7wo girl.

My friend with her 3wo also came along and I had a cuddle with him. Now we've actually made the decision to ttc in a few months time I seem to be all gaga over babies

pointydog · 11/06/2010 18:51

weetabix and oj
kit kat (my last banana was black and oozing all around the bottom)
plain ole ham and mustard sandwich
pear
licks of buttercream icing etc as I made a super duper birthday cake
lots of chilli chicken (in fact 2 portions as I didn't realise dh wasn't going to be around for tea)
big plain salad

hmm. ONly 4. PLanning wine and trifle for later.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/06/2010 18:57

oozing black banana's are rank

banana
cherry toms, cucumber, grapes, crackers with cream cheese.
peanut and choc cookie
chilli (lots of toms, onions, kidney beans and mushroms) and a little rice.
pineapple in jelly - was very nice, fat free and 100cal.

Now off to watch MIL in her WI singing concert. It's going to be bad isn't it?

pointydog · 11/06/2010 19:02

I went to see my dad sing in a concert last Christmas. It was a fantastic evening as I won the ginormous hamper in the raffle! Maybe you'll get lucky too.

CoupleofKooks · 11/06/2010 20:42

i think watching your MIL in a WI concert sounds MARVELLOUS
the potential for comedy is just too good
i hope you took a hanky to bite on, while pretending to be overcome with emotion

veggers forgive me for i have sinned
i have eaten some terrible non-vegger things

BUT
i just ran 4.98896 km. Trust me to miss off the last 11 m
however i deserve a LOT of stickers pink. don't i? pink? PINK?????

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 11/06/2010 20:48

is anyone else's MN really slow since that twitter box thing appeared? i am getting hacked off with it

ok we went to jimmy's farm with home ed group, which brought me a bit nearer to a few veggers so i waved along the A14 or whatever it was

it was jimmy's fault i ate a lot of crap
he sells lots of nice treats in his shop and nothing like a salad or a hummus sandwich

cereal blueberries strawberries raisins apple = 4
cheese and pickle roll quorn roll
carrot sticks, raw broccoli = 1
2 slices lemon cake - "handmade" apparently - but had hydrogenated vegetable oil in ingredients??
then later a "pizza bap". this was white bread roll with cheese and tomato on top. rather nice but not good
and a chocolate brownie as blood sugar already going berserk from lunch time cake

then more pasta with roasted veg as per yesterday, plus mozzarella = 1
and some chocolate

i plead mercy because of the 4.988 km
i am really pleased about this

i think i might be able to declare another lb lost on monday if i don't fuck it up over the weekend

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/06/2010 13:49

I won sod all on the raffle!

We started off the evening with Jersulam which really made me

There was some awful amateur opera singer who sung some Ivor Novello songs that I had never heard of. She dressed up for the occassion though as she had on some sparkly black trousers. I think if I touched her I would have got an elec shock as there was lots of nylon involved in her clothing

The WI choir sung about 5 songs and there was also some euphonium players who were v good and played some good tunes. 76 Trombones being my favourite

During the interval there was WI cake, but I abstained!!!!!!

Just to clarify, the cakes were made by the WI, it wasn't made out of WI ladies!

There was certainly some comedy gold to be had there

Well done for the run Fra. I'm very impressed with your running.

Did you see Jimmy? Him and his wife are expecting, my sis had them in her class last week.

DS and me are off to a party soon, at a soft play place in Diss.

CoupleofKooks · 13/06/2010 09:17

ah lemur that is hard lines about the raffle
how was soft play?

i am cheesed off
i thought i was going to be able to declare SOMETHING tomorrow but got on scales today and not even a half a pound
unless miracle occurs overnight am going to be franny the big zero again
what should i do? i have not lost anything for about 3 weeks have i? i have been eating a fair bit i suppose, but tbh i can't bf ds2 and run 3 miles and then come home to a rice cake
last time this happened i think i said i would give it another week, and then i lost 2 lb
that would be fine
however have feeling it has just slowed right down
what do you think veggers? eat less? just lose very slowly? or stay this weight for a while and not worry about it for now?

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 13/06/2010 10:34

dunno - I am the same

atm I am 2lbs heavier, it could have gone by tomorrow or it could not, my weight seems to vary wildly during the week.

Dh is working away weekends atm which makes it harder and I find cake helps! Things have been so stressful with my brother that I can't always concentrate on food. They were going to section him on friday, police were ready and so on but doctor is trying one more time of increasing meds [at max now] and crisis team visiting him twice a day and see how he goes over the weekend. All quiet so far, fingers crossed but I think he is just heavily sedated. he was waving a carving knife round like a sword here the other day, trying to cut the bug out of his belt and he thought whoever was listening was giving him electric shocks every time he talked. He is very unwell. Poor boy.

Ds2 woke me up at 6am and then went back to sleep and I couldn't and I feel irrationally annoyed about this. Cheated in fact!

Big bowl of raspberry dorset cereal with strawberries. It was overflowing and now I feel a little bit sick.

pointydog · 13/06/2010 10:44

franny, I think you need to try to cut out the cakes. You often seem to list gorgeous cakes althoughh maybe I have just made the gorgrous cake images larger in my head than they are in your real life.

I have quickly flicked through some of your lists: carrot cake, pig biscuit, cheese and biscuits, banana ice cream, mini magnum. However, your lists would be much less interetsing without those things . Do you think you have reached your best weight already? There's another thought.

Guad, that sounds like a terrible situation with your brother. V stressful for you all. I can see the doc wants to try to avoid a section but maybe it would be so much less stressful for everyone if the meds were being supervised in a hospital situation until things were calmer?

Guadalupe · 13/06/2010 11:23

Thanks. Yes, they do avoid it at all costs it seems, mainly because there are no beds, so unless they think he is a severe danger to himself or others they won't take him in. Of course we know that he is a danger to himself, the social worker and the police also but the doctor has to sign the form and they just keep increasing meds. It is like the worst has to happen first, even though he is under the care of the 'early intervention' team. We will see.

I agree about the cake, I am the same. I know the weeks where I have not lost are the ones where I eat cake and drink but there are some weeks where I just can't be bothered with denial. I am kind of happy with my weight, only two pounds over my target of 10 but you now, 9 12 would be good.

Guadalupe · 13/06/2010 11:29

well, 4 over atm but this is transient cake weight. Yep.

CoupleofKooks · 13/06/2010 14:45

yes i would like to lose just a bit more, i sorted out my wardrobe today and i have some nice clothes that i can't fit into
i am 9 12 now, but as you know i am very small frame (skinny arms etc) and being overweight just looks appalling, it all goes round my middle
you know some people just get a nice round bum, or they look curvy or ample or whatever if they put on a stone or two
i just look like a bag full of porridge with stick arms and legs
i think i would like to be 9 4
hmm

pointy yes some days my lists are appalling aren't they? i do object to the pig biscuit being thrown in my face though, it had been half chewed by ds2 and was only a sugar free baby biscuit to begin with
hmm
does eating cake taste better than being slim feels, this is the question? i think indeed it DOES

guad, your brother sounds so ill, i am sorry
what stress and not a lot you can do about it
i agree the worst almost has to happen sometimes before they can act
