This is our mumblemumbleth thread. We want to eat more healthily and/or lose weight.

In theory.

Mostly we like to chat and admire teh thread mascot - he helps us not to over-eat.

If that doesn't do it for you, you can always go old-school - I know I'm too scared to go into the dark spooky kitchen now

OP posts:

do they?? I love Debenhams - cant wait till i can shop properly in there, just 1 size to go now i think

hellsbelles · 26/04/2010 15:25

jet - we'll all look much prettier to you if we are a little blurry so perhaps leave the glasses as a last priority

Make up wise - I'm sure we can get that covered - between the cavernous make up bags that shiney and me some of us have got (I've certainly got stuff you can use).

So personally I would concentrate on train ticket and outfit. Do any of the hair dressing salons near you ever advertise for models (so trainee hairdressers can practice). Sounds scary but If you go for a very good salon you know they will be properly supervised so you'll get a good cut. I used to do that a lot.

Oh and maybe do some revision

TotalChaos · 26/04/2010 15:31

jet - agree about not paying for personal shoppers. Cheshire Oaks has one that's free, and will go round different shops with you - I did it last year, the lady was really nice and helpful.

foodshopping - I really need to cut down, some weeks I spend over £100 on 3 of us. I also find cooking from scratch can be more expensive - you can get a box of decent fish fingers for say £1.50 if you get whatever is on special, whereas fish fillets will be £2.50 plus (more for salmon of course!)

TotalChaos · 26/04/2010 15:33

sorry you are feeling rotten Alice, not quite sure whethre to hope it is or isn't a UTI¬!

TotalChaos · 26/04/2010 15:34

ooh and jet, deffo do the trainticket first as that is the only one that is likely to be cheaper the earlier you do it.

TotalChaos · 26/04/2010 15:37

oh and would you be entitled to a free eye test Jet and/or anything towards new glasses if you need a different prescription? I grew up on benefits and always got vouchers towards my glasses, not sure though whether that was to do with being a child rather than mum on a low income?

Alicetheinvisible · 26/04/2010 15:40

FFS!! I dropped the wee off so that i wouldn't take up a precious appointment(!) and they have had it 3hrs and the nurse hasn't even checked it yet honestly

(disclaimer: yes, i know they are busy etc.... but it takes a minute!)

bellavita · 26/04/2010 15:44

jet -

Eye Test first

the train ticket next

outfit because you may lose more weight and you obviously want it to fit

haircut - week before we meet, so you have time to be comfortable to style it yourself and make up.

revise as and when you can

Oooh Total, I did actually put the train ticket first then changed it... Yep, agree train ticket then eyes!!

MitsubishiWarrioress · 26/04/2010 15:58

Jet.. you are amazing and I bet you can do the 9lb in a month. I think the personal shopper things sounds OK... better if you don't have to pay... Ooohhh I so wish we were closer. I'd love to go with you. This kind of site can be good for train tickets

Shopping here is difficult to gauge. Not much room to store lost of stuff and If I buy multi packs in the kids scavenge and it proves to be a false economy.

Alice.. I have had UTIs when I was in hospital and they are miserable. Lots of water can help but you don't feel like drinking it.

What was the job you had been putting off shiney? Ted sounds like my DS. Never stops eating

Alicetheinvisible · 26/04/2010 16:14

Just had the nurse phone. No UTI, pain possibly due to being small with a big bump or possible start to contractions so need to keep an eye on it. Friend has also phoned to say her son (who we saw on thurs) has got slapped cheek, so now have to go for blood test tomorrow. The fun just never stops

Anyone want some homemade carrot cake? It is yummy but not helping my heartburn!

DH is off to Kent with £3k

bellavita · 26/04/2010 16:22

Fanny....... DH is bloody mad I tell ya!

bellavita · 26/04/2010 16:23

I am wearing a dress with heels Shiney, unless it is raining and crap and then I will wear jeans and nice top and heels. (I will bring both outfits anyway).

DeFluff · 26/04/2010 16:33

Fanny - not good poppet.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 26/04/2010 16:42

He is liqudising assets, I don know 4 methods of castration and we have good May coming up. We are at the top of the list for repayment, it is to be used as a stop gap while he gets hold of the rest of the cash. His father is not speaking to him. We can afford it just with some jiggling. I know its not good.

jetcat · 26/04/2010 16:42

thanks guys Feel a little better now re trying to plan everything....

TC - yup i get a free eyetest/voucher. But, these glasses i am wearing now are years old, as i lost my newest ones when i slipped in the ice a few months back. The optician said i could get an eye test, but if my prescription hadnt changed, i would have to pay for the test and full price for the glasses as my last check up was only a year ago. I couldnt afford to get it done so have made do with these old ones. But, they look soooo old..... I am desparate for some funky ones - i think i will get my eyes checked, then look online for some cheaper but nice bargain glasses

Train tickets - am really really hoping to get that done this weekend, then that will be one item off the list

Make up - thanks so much for all your kind offers I did test some No 7 tinted moisturiser as well as the lift and light (or something like that) foundation - they were cheaper than the benefit ones - and just as nice. I think i will need to sort some for the journey down

Will look into trainee hairdressers - mine will be good to practice on - it is so thick and wavy its bloomin hard work!

Fanny - is that his idea or yours??

TotalChaos · 26/04/2010 16:42

oh dear Five, you must be livid.

Alice - how erm helpful of the nurse - maybe you would be better off speaking to the maternity ward people if you don't feel better soon.

jetcat · 26/04/2010 16:44

dont get me wrong fanny - it is so lovely of you to help, but am just that you have had to

shiney - you wearing jeans?? I thought you all would be glamming it up, and have been busily depressing myself checking out posh frocks! Jeans would be so much easier

bellavita · 26/04/2010 16:45

Fanny bailing him out with money this time will only lead to more bailing out in the future..... how the hell can he stand on his own two feet and take the consequences of being such a twat if your DH is just going to chuck money at him.

Bloody hell Fanny, £3000 is a lot of money, money you have worked your arse off for.
