This is our mumblemumbleth thread. We want to eat more healthily and/or lose weight.

In theory.

Mostly we like to chat and admire teh thread mascot - he helps us not to over-eat.

If that doesn't do it for you, you can always go old-school - I know I'm too scared to go into the dark spooky kitchen now

I'm having a day of fury. My dds were at childcare for the last 2 days so Fridays are generally awful, as they are tired and whingey. Today was made worse by a succession of visitors and my dds behaving appallingly. Culminating in dd1 (4) hitting her 2 yr old cousin in the face. I am so cross with her. Her attitude stinks at the moment.

Does anyone have any ideas about bringing her back into line? She is just so obnoxious. She gets sent to her room as a punishment but I need to work out some consistent statagies and start taking away privilages.

Sorry, I should post this in parenting. It's just really frustrating sometimes.

Oh because I am so cross I have eaten 2 packets of kids sweets. Sort of yoghurty berry things. Feel sick now as well as cross.

I like the ownership of responsibility for action route. if you chose to do x,y/z then you are chosing to not watch tv/not have sweets not be allowed to ride your scooter for a week. That is your choice. I am giving you the option to not/stop doing x,y/z or else you will have a screen ban for a week, not get any sweets at the weekend/not be allowed to ride your scooter because i cant trust you.

Que protest on punishment being given. You were i gave you the choice you chose to x/y/z that is why m/n/c is going to happen.

type thing. Its brilliant cos it makes him really think about what he is doing and the choices he is making.

Did you know that JuShi is actually a tradition of eating raw kidneys off the backs of shaved Yaks by a very small population of Innuits who believe that they are actually the descendants of Aliens that visited the earth in the 15th century?

They are awaiting the revisit of their leader before brainwashing us all with a chant that is carried on the backs of tiny tiny butterflies who nestle in our ears making us think we have tinnitus?

I am Mitts.....

ClaudiaSchiffer · 23/04/2010 07:54

Thanks SAF and slug all excellent ideas. I will endeavor to implement, particularly the choices thing - v. good for my 4 yr old.

I have put them in separate rooms for the moment so we all have some time out from each other. I think we've been cooped up at home all day.

But I do generally think I am too soft/loving/self esteem building bloody ineffectual modern parent sometimes and my dds need a bit of a dose of boundaries.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/04/2010 07:59

Sorry I posted that without reading anything so didn't mean to be inappropriate...

Thanks SAF you speak sense . I was discussing her behavoiur with a mate who said that her ds's behaviour also went tits up shortly before he started school then as soon as he was in school the boy appreciated home life a lot more.

I'm just knackered today and they are driving me mental. It's sooo tiring sometimes.

Mits hellooooooo lovely to see you this morning. Not inappropriate at all. I am just gloomy and need to go for a bracing walk or something.
