This is our mumblemumbleth thread. We want to eat more healthily and/or lose weight.

In theory.

Mostly we like to chat and admire teh thread mascot - he helps us not to over-eat.

If that doesn't do it for you, you can always go old-school - I know I'm too scared to go into the dark spooky kitchen now

Bloody hell.

We live in a bigish freezing cold rented house and calor gas have just phoned to say we need to increase our monthly direct debit.

To £270 per month.

I hate this bloody house its never even warm.

And I hate that landlords don't insulate properties properly and I hate stupid sash windows.

Yeap, cheery soul me today.

DeFluff · 26/04/2010 10:23

morning all, good to hear you had a fab weekend lizzy

well, weigh in this morning and i am gutted Despite the fact i know AF is due and wasnt expecting to lose much, i am still really disheartened to have only lost just over 2 lbs The nurse didnt seem to bothered, but i admit to being fed up. I need a big dose of motivation now, so i can go back to feeling positive about looking glam in June

DeFluff · 26/04/2010 10:33

Tracey - not good £270 a month is a fortune

Trills - I can't get from hall to dining room now as covered in bags. Must sign off now to put stuff away before bloody defrosts.

Jet - 2 lbs is 2lbs more than I've lost this week. Grrr.

bellavita · 26/04/2010 10:43

DeFluff, we probably spend around £600 plus a month. We don't have nappies or anything like that to buy and all our wine is purchased separately to our shopping. So I suppose ours is quite steep. However, I do have two boys who have hollow legs!

63 lbs saf

Wow, you guys spend a lot on shopping No idea how much i spend, as i seem to be buying stuff most days - should really meal plan i think

NormaSknockers · 26/04/2010 10:58

We're trying to cut back our spending in Tesco as it was getting out of hand. We used to do a big monthly shop then lots of little shops but now I'm doing a weekly shop with a list, so far we've already spent £100 less

Jet try not to be to disheartened, it's still a loss which means it's all headed in the right direction. I tell you what, set yourself a mini goal, say 7lbs in the next however many weeks (what you feel comfortable with) & when you do it I'll send you a suprise through the post?

DeFluff · 26/04/2010 11:00

bella - break mid way through shopping in kitchen. Why did I not think to check what I already had in cupboards?? I now have the rice/pasta/spaghetti mountain of the world, various dolmio type sauces x 300, 14 cans of spaghetti (ww) and 16 cans of tuna. Ah well.

We probably spend £300- £400 a month on big shop then do another little shop every week which comes to about £50 a go. We don't drink (me - rarely, DP - now never or I'll kill him), but we do have the nappies/milk stuff. And cat food/litter plus all stuff like washing powder, dishwasher stuff etc. The food itself is prob only about half. Also dd 'refuses' to eat normal fruit it has to be extortionate 'fruit strings' type crap probably as close to fruit as those loops posted higher up

We're also very wasteful, I'm always throwing food out thats past sell by date. I need a meal planner!! And the urge to actually stick to it.

Bloody hell Shiney - dd will only eat about 2 mouthfuls of cereal for breakfast.

Right, back to it.

NormaSknockers · 26/04/2010 11:04

I want to Jet, you lose that 9lbs I will send you something. It's not a fantastic motivation I know but it might help a little

thanks Norma

Wow shiney - ted eats that much for brekkie? Mini is lucky if she manages to finish her cereal, she is such a poor eater. Some days she may only have 4-5 mouthfuls at each meal, but HV doesnt seem too worried. She is tiny though

Junior on the other hand - just eats non stop
