I have had horrible pains all day..... they feel like periiod pains. As the day has progressed they have been getting worse and worse.

Nurofen isnt touching it. Im totally exhausted by it and just want to sleep. Im sat here crying because I dont know what to do. I took painkillers nearly an hour ago anf they just arent working and I just want to sleep.

With my EP, the HCG levels kept on rising and rising but not enough. I had 3 vaginal scans over 2 weeks and it was only at the end that the consultant saw an anomaly (even then he didn't know what it was but it gave him the grounds for operating to investigate). I even managed to fit in a trip to LegoLand between blood tests.

It devilish hard to spot, but it really does help if the drs are actually looking for an ep. I can't fault my consultant really, or the care I got once I fought my way past A&E. But it was the longest 2 weeks ever.

Can't believe SC is struggling to be taken seriously .

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 21/04/2010 05:17

I know it's the middle of the night and no-one's around, but I've been reading with horror and I hope there'll be some good news sooner rather than later.

TOF, so glad you have SC's phone number and thanks for the updates. You're a good friend.

MmeLindt · 21/04/2010 06:30

How are you this morning, Spooky?

TheBossofMe · 21/04/2010 06:48

TiggyR · 21/04/2010 07:45

marking my place.....

JackBauer · 21/04/2010 08:02

I haven't seen this until now, spooky, how awful for you to be going through this. From what i know from friends an early ep is relatively simple to deal with, which makes this even more scary.
Hope you are doing okay spooky, x

LoveMyGirls · 21/04/2010 08:05

We're all thinking and praying for you, you are not on your own and you are worth it!

Northernlurker · 21/04/2010 08:07

I think it's important to remember that EP is sometimes hard to diagnose even with a scan - the stories here tell us that. The issues (I think) is that so many medical professionals are waiting for possible EP to be definately indicated by symptoms rather than proceeding on the basis that an unwell patient with pain in early pregnancy is an EP till proved otherwise and therefore they should follow a pathway characterised by active monitoring and adopt a treatment plan that will enable women who do become acutely unwell to be treated with despatch.

hazeyjane · 21/04/2010 08:08

Just checking to see if anything has happened.

Hope there has been some positive progress overnight.

Lubyloo · 21/04/2010 08:21

Hope you are ok Spooky. I had to log on as soon as I could this morning to check on you. We are all thinking of you and hoping that you are feeling better and getting good medical care now.

I agree with Northernlurker above. I have wondered if it is a cost issue thay they won't scan (although in my case it was a false economy as I certainly cost the NHS a lot more after emergency surgery and a week's stay in hospital than I would have done if they had done a repeat scan!)

Brollyflower · 21/04/2010 08:25

Yes, I agree northernlurker. It's the repeatedly sending her away with the impression that she's making a fuss that's the most worrying. I do wonder if they've considered that her dates might be wrong and the hcg reading anomalous. Easy to second guess when we're not there of course.

Hope things are looking better this morning.

toccatanfudge · 21/04/2010 08:38

haven't heard anything more from here since last night, will text her in a little while.

GhostInTheBackOfYourHead · 21/04/2010 08:38

Been lurking but wanted to add my support for SC. This is truly disgraceful and I'll join a campaign if and when it gets off the ground.

northernmonkey · 21/04/2010 08:43

Hoping everything is ok spooky

I also think its time to campaign when we know spooky is ok

toccatanfudge · 21/04/2010 08:54

facebook update from her a few minutes ago

Has just been given a sexy pink floral nighty to wear. I look hot. Hopefully the consultant is going to see me later. Some more drugs would go down well about now.

and actually this talk of Drs has reminded me I think I'm supposed to be seeing the Dr this morning for another prescription for my AD's and what not.........but I can't remember what time so guess I'd better ring and check.

LilRedWG · 21/04/2010 08:59

Just checking in. I hope you get some decent treatment from the hospital today SC. x

BosomsByTheSea · 21/04/2010 09:02

Glad she's still there. I expect she will get that scan today.

SnotBaby · 21/04/2010 09:14

Tocattanfudge you are doing a wonderful job here. Please remember to take good care of yourself, too - keep those appointments and get a decent amount of sleep.

ljgibbs · 21/04/2010 09:43

SC, hope Drs are able to give a diagnosis of your condition today.

Just checking in. Noted the pink nightie. And possible lack of scan.

Will await more news and you can count me in for the campaign.
