Shiney Cult - how do you eat yours?

1002 replies

TrillianAstra · 10/04/2010 16:03

Sparingly we hope - with plenty of fresh fruit and veg

Spring is in the air and we are still here, on our 62nd (?) thread for healthy eating, chat, and of course the cult mascot (what better to put you off your food?).

The aim of the game is to post a lot, eat slightly better than before, and enjoy life.

Shiney, did no one on the bus offer to give you the blardy 2 friggin p? The mean feckers.

A few weeks ago, someone was about 30p short - I was halfway up the bus and I got up to go and given them it - someone at the front though got there first.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/04/2010 16:29

That was mean Shiney - hope you like the shoes, but definitly know what you mean about public transprt.

TrillianAstra · 11/04/2010 16:30

My parents live 8 miles down the road and I see them about once every 6/8 weeks, very often on a strict time limit... My Dad is as nutty as a fruit cake and can be hard to handle so it about suits generally, but I do miss my Mum. We are not 'allowed' to shop together or meet for coffee .

It makes me sad that since my Grandparents died, DC's haven't really had the Grandparent experience, of being massively spoilt and some GP one to one.

I have online shopped (for tomorrow) and am scraping the barrel for tea... all I need to do is find a manky tin of Corned beef and the meal will be complete.. (or did we already eat that?)

bellavita · 11/04/2010 16:34

Bless DS2 though on Friday when we used the park and ride... there is a little seat high up on it's own at the front that he likes to sit on. The bus was very full and a mum and small girl of about 3 sat in the first seats that say "please let the elderly sit here" but she sat there even though when she got on the bus was not full. I noticed this older lady who got on (she was stood up) chatting to DS. When we got off, I asked him what they had been saying to each other - he said I asked if she would like to sit in my seat but she said no it was ok.... He might be a feral mucklump of a child most of the time, but at least he knows his manners. I was quite chuffed with him.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 11/04/2010 16:34

Yeah... a bit of shoe porn would be a treat..

MitsubishiWarrioress · 11/04/2010 16:35

'feral muckchump'

bellavita · 11/04/2010 16:37

Mitts, why are you not allowed to shop together or meet for a coffee?

Yes, linky to shoes please.

bellavita · 11/04/2010 16:38

M&S cafe on Friday cost me a bloody fortune!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/04/2010 16:40

Mitts - is that your fathers doing? I am lucky that we both get on with my parents who adore DC's, these are my mothers first GC's she has 15 step grandchildren.

TrillianAstra · 11/04/2010 16:45

Grr at weirdy controlling men - if your mum wants to meet you for coffee she should, but I guess she's made her choice about how she is going ot live her life.

I've just ordered Freakonomics and Bad Science for holiday reading to counteract the vampire sillyness

Hello, hello

Trills - Freakonomics v good, although shorter than I'd like. Bad Science is on my ever-increasing list of Books To Read, so let us know what you think. Where are you going?

Bella - both your DS's have lovely manners. It's something I value highly, not that you would be able to tell from my feral dc's.

DEM/VT - DEM is quite right, she whupped me on the particle physics thread. My geek credentials are no match for her quite astonishing breadth of knowledge

Five - I have relatives in Kent. I wouldn't want to live there.

Did I see Norma?

SAF - parents can be horribly difficult. When does the course start? Is it psychology?

Alice - am jealous of your banana loaf

Mits & SAF - am very jealous of your minus calories.

Bitter - liking the kinder egg idea. I have spent a thoroughly unproductive ten minutes picturing us all in hippo guise, sporting various science/glamorous/riding etc outfits

Claudia - good, good. I thought Cloud-ee-ah too.

I miss Yank, and not only for her roundups!

DreamsInBinary · 11/04/2010 17:11

I love my converse, Shiney.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 11/04/2010 17:16

yeah.. my Dad is really controling. He used to only let her go in one other shop than the specific shops they had gone out for... He sees it as absolute devotion.. . She is lovely though Trills and came from a background where loyalty to ones Husband was expected. She has followed his dreams to her own cost, and is trapped in an emotional rollercoaster. I wish she'd had Mumsnet a couple of decade ago.

Think it's where I got so messed up.

VinegarTitsOnaDiet · 11/04/2010 17:41

i have converse in red, ds1 made me buy them, he likes to keep me young and trendy looking

i went food shopping today and came back with a new jacket from GAP, and very little food

DidEinsteinsMum · 11/04/2010 17:44

Evening. I hurt....

...alot.

Is it bedtime yet?

DidEinsteinsMum · 11/04/2010 17:48

what are converse? i figured out they are a type of shoe but totally confused.

Mitts. yep, got to include some bug splatting, best exercise yet

bellavita · 11/04/2010 17:48

I am gonna look like a right old fuddy duddy amongst you "hip" girls
