I want the plum I can't have, and it's driving me mad - 10/10 thread with new added BOOTCAMP

Well some of us have strayed from the path of righteousness. Some of us have been off MN for a while. Some of us have got a bit porky apparently So this is a 10/10 thread with added extras.... the usual 10/10 thread remains (I think it's still going?) for people who want to eat more fruit and veg but don't need / want to lose weight.

The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. This is a kind of splinter 10/10 thread, the focus IS on weight loss / inch loss, as well as improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being, but the idea is to do this by eating healthily and getting more exercise, rather than anything drastic, cutting out food groups, etc. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Well, yes, I am fine, and didn't actually notice a massive drop in energy really - but that's probably all the lovely coffee highs. It wasn't that strict really, we'd still have cous cous and rice when we fancied them. We really dropped pasta, pots and bread I guess, and therefore dropped all the butter that might accompany them.

I think we've slowly changed the way we eat, so I don't really think of it as a diet. We started a year ago - and the weight has stayed off.

ahundredtimes · 19/03/2010 18:08

God, diets are v dull aren't they

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 19/03/2010 18:12

Okay. Posting here so you will see it.
Imagine that a thread appeared, full of lovely people who you used to have fun with, haven't spoken to for ages and have been missing, and then that you were told that the thread wasn't suitable for you because you were...what shall we say?...too neurotic?
It would hurt, wouldn't it?
And maybe the person who said that didn't actually know where you were or what you were doing, having not had contact for some time.
Tell you what, I shall fuck off from mn altogether and leave both threads clear for you to play on with no danger of bumping into possible inconvenient liabilities.
I am fairly sure that Mits doesn't post on 10/10 these days, andI'm sure OB won't be about as you have made it abundantly clear that you don't like her.

So, go play

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 19/03/2010 18:13

(hello 100x)

ahundredtimes · 19/03/2010 18:14

Oh dear TooT. I imagine what Fra said below was not about you being neurotic, but about eating disorders?

I'm guessing she said it because a diet thread isn't a good place to be if you suffer with one?

However, I'm guessing.

ahundredtimes · 19/03/2010 18:15

(hello TooT)

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 19/03/2010 18:23

Yes, that was what she meant. My mention of neurosis was possibly cruel, but a suggestion of what might hurt Franny in the same way.
I am hurt. And menstrual.

I miss you 100x

OtterInaSkoda · 19/03/2010 18:23

Just stopping by to admire your thread title.

It's written all over my fay-a-yay-a-yay-a-yay-aya-yay-yace though that I have no contribution to make towards a Healthy Living thread

ahundredtimes · 19/03/2010 18:27

Well I'm flitting in TooT, I flit.

It was a hurtful thing to say, yes, but kind of sensible too, if you're honest. It did get a bit unhealthy. In my flitting opinion

ahundredtimes · 19/03/2010 18:29

ANYWAY

I'm not even on this thread as I have no objectives. At all. In life actually.

Bugger, shall I get my coat?

Guadalupe · 19/03/2010 18:38

Toot - you know that's not true. If we banned people for being neurotic then I think we would all be shaking the door handle.

You have an eating disorder. It can't possibly be good for you to list the food you eaten in tiny amounts or have not eaten or eaten and then purged. That's what they do on the proana sites. It's not fair to expect people to watch that when they are unable to help. It doesn't mean they don't care.

It's not fair to say that about OB either. Personally, we did rub each other up the wrong way to begin with, but we got along well enough in the end, I think...

Not everyone can get along all of the time anyway, can they?

I am sorry you have felt hurt.

ahundredtimes · 19/03/2010 18:40

Hey, Thanks For Dropping By

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 19/03/2010 18:41

I have never listed stuff I have purged.
Anyway, I am in remission, or recovery. Not that it matters.

IAmTheOneAndOnlyTooT · 19/03/2010 18:42

The fact remains, Franny does not like OB.
i hate unpleasantness.

Guadalupe · 19/03/2010 18:43

Otter - no no. Do you like cake?

I am going out. I have already had two gin and tonics. Oops. Right

Pineapple
1 brazil nut 4 almonds

handful of crisps

tomato and lentil soup
honey roast salmon fillet

rye toast with peanut butter and banana

I am expect I am going to have a few drinks later. There will be lots of policemen there, I assume anyway, as it is a policeman's 40th birthday. I am friends with his wife. I wonder if they will come in uniform. Not the time to rack up the coke in the loo then. Arf.

I am not ready. At all. And my friend won't reply to my text asing if we are getting a taxi or walking so I don't know what shoes to wear. Hmm.

Franny - can I talk about hrt tomorrow. Cheers.

CoupleofKooks · 19/03/2010 18:45

TooT, I'm glad you've said that, because perhaps I can talk honestly now
having an anorexic / bulimic / exercise addict hanging out on a diet thread is not going to happen while I have anything to do with it
i don't know if you have active eating disorders atm or not but i know enough about EDs to know that a diet thread is NEVER going to be a safe and appropriate
place for someone who has had an ED

I hope you ARE well now - no i have no idea where you are at this minute
but i know you have had a very recent, severe and prolonged bout of anorexia and bulimia and there is no way on earth that any responsible person would say "yes come into my diet thread and hang around chatting with us all about losing weight"

there's also no way I'm coming on to 10/10 thread, where i know you get support, to talk about diets, either
and I doubt anyone else would feel comfortable doing so
however i am not going to self-censor myself throughoug the whole of MN to avoid upsetting you - i want to lose weight and I want to chat to some people I know who also want to lose weight

i am not stopping you from talking to anyone
why don't you start a thread to talk to the people you want to talk to, if that's what you would like?
but toot, this is a thread about dieting and losing weight, and no, it isn't ok for you to be here on THIS thread
there is just no debate about that
the suggestion on the other thread that i am doing this to make you cry is just....i don't know what to say
you think i have got fat deliberately so that i can start a diet thread to upset you and deliberately exclude you?
is that what you are really thinking? i don't know where to start with that one

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 19/03/2010 18:46

Okay, well sorry if I was wrong then. It's what I assumed tbh, from the way you posted. I am glad you are recovering.

CoupleofKooks · 19/03/2010 18:46

I'm not going to talk about OB or MW or anyone who isn't here behind their backs
if OB or MW want to talk to me about what you've said I've got no problem with that

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 19/03/2010 18:47

Is otter not? the otter

Well, new otter or old otter. Hello.

EllieMental · 19/03/2010 18:53

Hello Otter! Always like your name!

Toots honey, I didn't even register the exchange which upset you. No-one said you were neurotic. Or told you to fuck off. that is what you said.
I'm sorry if you feel hurt, I don't want you to feel hurt.
I just want to be on a thread where people eat like me and want to lose a bit of weight. I want boot camp. I want to know that a regime I have been quietly practising by myself for the past 2 weeks is actually being followed by others too, so I feel more motivated.
Please don't flounce, the very word makes me think of Voiolet Elizabeth Bott in a pink frilly dress. And you know that image will bring me out in hives....
