My dh says "you're not on your site again, are you???"!

Sm, I'm on day 2, too! Hooray for us.

Cc, can't help but fantasize about that cigarette, though. The whole house stinks of fags now, and although it is a really disgusting smell, when I get close to fresh tobacco smoke, I find myself longing for that one cigarette... Every time I see my aunt I want to ask her for a fag. Oh pants, this sucks.

I think you need to fail, too. I will get sick of failing, eventually, won't I? I still don't feel that I'm on the road to ex-nicotine addict. But maybe that's just the addict still talking. This stuff odes my head in. You sort of have to just hunker down and plow your way through, don't you! I've been cooking purees, doing washing, tidying up and all sorts of things to fill my time, so I don't have t think about it. And it's only day 2.

And I'm babbling on like some sort of mad thing.

Need to go and have a go on whyquit. Thanks, Leader, for that site, it really is a lifesaver.

Mll, how long is it now for you? How are you doing? Feel you're well on the way, or do you still have the urge to smoke dog-ends???

Bloody Hell what effort

evansmummy · 28/07/2005 09:09

Had an awful night and an awful evening. My cravings seem to be worst when ds is in bed cos it's at tthose moments that I would smoke normally. Like NOW for example. Grrrrrrrr...

Is it normal to have insomnia and awful headaches? I don't remember that from the last times.

Auntie smoked all night, I keep wanting to sneak down and steal a fag from the packet.

Once when I tried to stop, I went out to the car and picked a rollie dogend from the (full-up) ashtray in the car and smoked it.

My head really hurts

evansmummy · 28/07/2005 09:28

Just had a perfect opportunity for cigarette stealing( feel like I'm 14 again), and didn't do it. Oh man, this really is bad bad bad

charliecat · 28/07/2005 09:39

Get yourself over to whyquit.com and read read read...this is the evil nicotine monster determined to make you fail....or its a self imposed temper tantrum that your imposing on yoursefl to tell yourself life would be sssssooooooooo much better with them than without. Big Deep Breathes...in out in out...Is the headache the weather? I have a one boiling up, have had one since yesterday. Have a coffee too.

evansmummy · 28/07/2005 09:44

Thanks cc. Going to get ready before ds wakes up, then it should be easy for the next two hours while I have him to care for!

Lunch time is the next difficult time though. And I think it is a temper tantrum. I have them all the time since Monday. Poor dh is getting really fed up with me.

charliecat · 28/07/2005 09:47

Can you go out and run somewhere just exhaust your lungs from aching? Have a really good cry over something? The good thing is...remember how bad this is...and remember in a couple of weeks time how awful it was and when your wondering, should you have JUST ONE..you will remember that you never want to repeat it again!!!!!!! xxxxxxxx

evansmummy · 28/07/2005 11:52

I can't run, cc!! I've got awful painful knees, plus I've smoked for fourteen years, can't get past a shuffle really lol!!

The crying I am doing though. Just gave ds his bottle and used mll's trick of imagining. Thought of never seeing him again, and of him never seeing me, and I hate it. It is my biggest motivation for stopping, but I still want to smoke. How selfish am I...

Thing is I'm not even thinking just one, but I will smoke if and when and however much I want. I really hate this thing. People should be made more aware of how hard it is to stop. Then maybe they would never start. Wish I hadn't!!

peckarollover · 28/07/2005 12:19

Im on day 11 now!!! im finding it ok - the other major drawback is the amount i am eating!! i really do eat alllll of the time lol

the biggest test so far - going out for a drink with a friend who i totally relate smoking to - we have spent many a time just chatting and smoking and used to joke about being "tab friends"

how do i get through that?

charliecat · 28/07/2005 12:44

Keep going Em, every moment at a time....the addiction/mind warping/suicidal smoking thoughts ARE EVIL. I cant quite get over that these evil sticks are on sale on nearly every corner. Its disgusting.
Go stand in Tescos next to the fag counter and watch the folks spenid 40 quid on those 2000 of specially wrapped cancer sticks. They, should you tell them that you have manged to quit would be so so so jealous of you. They would be with envy.
You are doing yourself a favour, they are are still 100% trapped by the weed.
Pecka, Well Done!!!! Your doing great. You have done 11 whole days of not smoking, you need to tell yourself that no matter how easy it would be to share 1 fag with her for old times sake all it will do is take you RIGHT BACK to square one. Ask Scrummy. (Look a few posts down)
I felt as if I was losing a part of that friendship[you have to laugh at these thoughts] and that things would never be quite the same again wiht my smoking friends......but you would never think such things if you gave up beef, or bread, or wearing cotton, or drinking tea.
Its the addicts head telling you theres a time you can maybe fail and have an excuse. Ill be back in 1 moment......

OMG.

Thanks, leader, as always for the link. When you settle yourself down for a good and proper read, there are some really scary things in there.

I still want to go downstairs and steal a cigarette.

Last time wasn't this hard. Does it get harder the more times you try and quit??
