Our leader........what a hilarious thing to wake up to read I had the greatest trouble giving up smoking...took me about 300 attempts adna good couple of years. Finally nailed it last year...love saying that a week after my dds birthdays in November. 99% over it. Never say Never but nearly, you know

dropinthe · 26/07/2005 11:32

Found you all at last! I'm back from wonderful Turkey and am now even lozenge free!!! No fags for nearly 5 months now! Glad to see you oldies are still going-Mll-we will arrange a meeting soon,eh? I need cheering up as dislocated my knee while I was away so am hobbling around around like an old lady but hope to be relatively mobile in a few weeks time-(she say's highly optimistically!!)
I ran out of lozenges with a bout five days left to go-got a bit jittery for the first day but then forgot all about them-even threww the one's I'd saved for returning home in the bin!!
And........dh hasn't smoked for two weeks either!! Hurray!!!
So all is well!!

Got tipsy and fell at first real hurdle. Have just had to set quitometer back to 0.

evansmummy · 26/07/2005 19:00

Hullo!! Here I am!! Thanks for asking, btw!

We decided to stay an extra day in Southampton, so only stopped smoking yesterday at midnight. That makes it about 19 hours. Hooray for me!

It's actually been a horrible day. Can't stop thinking about cigarettes. It's pissing me off enormously. And now I find that my aunt is over from Crete for the next few weeks, and my parents are letting her smoke in the house. (We live in a corner of my parents huge house). My parents don't even smoke! So I'm disgusted that it stinks of smoking here. I made such an effort to smoke outside before I stopped, cos I hate the smell of inside smoking, and I really didn't want ds to stink of smoke, then they just go ahead and let her smoke in the lounge. So firstly, it stinks, second, now my poor baby smells of smoke and inhales it cos it's floating around the house, and third, IT MAKES ME WANT TO SMOKE TOO!!!!!!!

This is horrible. I really don't think I'm gonna make it very far this time, either. I am so pants.

Cc, as our leader (hee hee), I await your orders...

charliecat · 26/07/2005 20:51

Think postitve EM...you dont want oyur baby stinking of fags...especially not YOURS.
Scrummy..........

evansmummy · 26/07/2005 21:35

Sc(r)ummy, at least you made a week, jump back on the wagon and don't let yourself go!!!! I did, and here I am four weeks of smoking after 4 weeks of not, and I'm having a lot of trouble.

It can't be good to feel a failure before you've even started...

I am sick of failing and must do better. Drink seems a weak excuse but was definitely a factor. Chin up and back on the wagon I guess.

charliecat · 27/07/2005 10:50

Yeah.....you have to learn from these failures, that in that situation you are vunerable and to steel yourself up for it and tell yourself you CAN do it. And you do get really really sick to the back teeth of trying really hard and failing...and eventually you realise theres no option but to quit, theres no point even fantasizing about that one fag as it all leads to the same miserable path back to smoking...which is what you were trying not to do in the first place.
It is really bloody hard at first but once you have done a while it gets easier, to the point of not being an issue at all. Come on Girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
