well done everyone else im finding it ok. Went out for meal and few drinks last night and didnt crumble

charliecat · 23/07/2005 11:00

Hi Guys, no smoking anyone, even with all the stuff going on right now you reclaiming your addiction is NOT going to help anyone. Please dont xx
I hit the booze this week and am very tearful not sure if its hormones or the news or what. xx

peckarollover · 23/07/2005 11:01

I have been drinking more and eating lots more crap! hopefully i can cut that out in the next week or so really dont want to put TOO much weight on!

charliecat · 23/07/2005 11:05

I put on a bit, too much actually but I was aware that i was eating TONS of choccie and crisps and crap and could hardly of expected not too. Now months later trying to reign in myself to eating fruit instead of crisps etc as I have brought some trosers that dont fit. Never had a problem with weight in my life before but I know its worth the blobbyness in the long run!

charliecat · 25/07/2005 10:43

Well Done!!!!! how you coping?

Ilovemonkeynuts · 25/07/2005 11:16

Hi all sorry to jump on the band wagon!

Have noticed lately that there are an awful lot of give up smoking campaigns....yet it still isn't making me consider quitting.

I'm a nanny, don't have my own children... can cope if I know I can not have a cigarette, yet when I know I can...I will have 2-3 in a row.

AFter reading your posts it makes me realise that what I feel is not insanity but I have an addiction..can I quash it? Not sure I am ready for that huge step yet.

Sorry for sounding such a wimp on this thread..you guys that have quit are doing brilliantly and keep it up

charliecat · 25/07/2005 11:19

Hiya, somethings made you pop in here I smoked for a good few years and it wouldnt have entered my head to stop.
I recommend a book called Allen Carrs Easy Way to Stop Smoking...and whyquit.com

I truely belive you need to understand why you smoke/why your still smoking before you can give it up for good.

charliecat · 25/07/2005 11:20

Oh yeah, how you doing EM?

Ilovemonkeynuts · 25/07/2005 11:27

Thanks CC...have no idea why I smoke, can't even say it was peer pressure from a young age as I was the first in my group of friends to smoke! Am studying Montessori at present and apparently oral fixations are to to with Freud...nto that that explains anything to me!
I have read the Alan Carr Book about 4 years ago and my employers have even offered to pay for one of his sessions (it worked for them for a while)yet I acually FEAR giving it up!
Strange...might just watch this thread rather than post...don't want to upset you strong people for giving up

charliecat · 25/07/2005 11:30

My mum has always said Its to do with the mouth it is it is...er no its not. Its addiction. I have and you probably have too, smoked someone else dogend because you have ran out of fags....you WOULD NOT eat half their burger they had abandoned...or a half sucked sweet...
I would take them up on the allen carr session, what are you scared to give up?

Hi ladies
Well I'm 29, have smoked since I was 13 and smoke various amounts...depends on situaion really. When working I don't have a cigarette unless charges on a playdate during the holidays (they are both at school full time too) probably smoke a rather large anount til I go to bed...even going on the doorstep in whatever weather (as not allowed to smoke in house)
I have only attempted to give up once which was around 4 years ago...I thought I was doing well only having one a day (route home from work past parents house...mom smokes sneaky!) until ex partner buys me a packet of 20 and pleads with me to smoke... as I am too ratty
Hope your all managing to continue the good work

1 week, 8 hours, 50 minutes and 22 seconds here. Major test tonight- am out with a lovely smoker friend. Psyching myself up to be strong willed...

charliecat · 25/07/2005 16:53

Lovely Smoker Friend. Be honest she stinks

Ilovemonkeynuts · 25/07/2005 19:11

Wasn't being rude earlier was back working
Roughly would say 20 a day easily at weekends...have finished work and was straight on the doorstep...3 in a row
Health is fine I don't drink alcohol, although I know smoking is worse!
Have a stressful 3 weeks ahead so stopping now would be madness...I know I know it sounds like an excuse...and a poor one at that!! But one day....who knows
Scummymummy...you have done so well so far...keep it up

charliecat · 25/07/2005 20:19

Is the 3 in row, cramming them in something to do with the fact they are not doing/tasting/whats the word.......satifying you the way they once did?... your smoking hoping to have that lovely fag you fantasize about but its just not happening?
Thats why I would have 1 after the other personally... MLL started off as a ...dont quite know if im going to quit yet and look at her now

charliecat · 25/07/2005 20:20

oh and sometimes its quiet here for AGES but we do drift back
