Poor thread title, I know....

I think this is our 39th thread and we are still going strong. Our leader Shiney is well what can I say.. just bloody fab.

We do like a lot of cock and cake chat with lots of healthy stuff thrown in too.

We welcome any one who wants to join our thread - just one rule, post post and post more!

Ha! I think I've worked out a way to type with both hands and breastfeed! The day is mine!! HAHAHAHHAHA!!!

I will probably have an aching back and calves from this weird position, but when you can touch type, reverting to one handed pecking is torture!

Georgimama · 17/01/2010 12:58

How old is DC yank - could you use a sling? Would save the aching back - I can imagine the stoop you're adopting and wince for your spine.

at sudden influx of popularity.

YanknCock · 17/01/2010 12:59

Georgi, have added you too (thanks for suggesting Lizzy). I'm the one with the crazy German maiden name.

TrillianAstra · 17/01/2010 12:59

That was quick.

Well done Yank!

Now, what can I eat that will make my hangover feel better and be healthy?

Party was fun, I didn't know many people there but we made maragritas (is there an h in that?) in a blender and someone had made profiteroles and we danced to silly music. They'd bought a 1-day ad-free Spotify subscription so there was lots of music.

TrillianAstra · 17/01/2010 13:02

Oh, and the birthday girl's younger brother's girlfriend really made me think of Vinny, if Vinny had a 15-yrs-younger slightly-less-pretty but very fun and bouncy little sister.

YanknCock · 17/01/2010 13:02

DS is nearly 5 months. I tried with the Kari-Me the other day, but he likes to stretch out when feeding so got very annoyed. I've got him on a widgy pillow on my lap, feet up on base of the office chair so my knees are up a bit holding DS to level of boob, arms sort of over him to type on laptop which is on the edge of the desk. My pilates teacher would be appalled. Am quite short-torsoed so it sort of works!

Georgimama · 17/01/2010 13:03

I've changed my FB profile pic to amuse you all - taken in my brother's pool in Oz 2 years ago.

FlamingoBingo · 17/01/2010 13:06

Trillian - that little snippet about vaccinations is helpful - thank you.

Have you got a ring-sling, Yank? And are you my FB friend?

YanknCock · 17/01/2010 13:06

TA, I'm also fairly pro-vaccine having nearly completed a master's in public health. I don't wade in to the discussions on here though. DH got a letter through to have his, and he's going monday. His asthma landed him in A&E over Christmas so the last thing we need is him getting any kind of flu.

hellsbelles · 17/01/2010 13:07

oh I'm going on facebook to get me some more friends - anyone getting invites from HL please say yes - otherwise I shall sulk

Vinny - I was musing over SF vaccine last week. And still in two minds. DD is generally very robust and is relatively soon to get her MMR so I just feel a bit worried about too much at the same time and also a vaccine for something that feel relatively untested. However I also know I will be devastated if I don't get it for her and she gets it badly. What the hell are we supposed to do DH is actually being decisive and saying no on this which surprised me. Also as I mentioned last my consultant (not NHS) - said he didn't advise it and wasn't giving it to his DD's (though I didn't queiston him a lot on it).

Flam - sounds like one of those shit days where everything goes wrong. I had a slighty rubbish one yesterday and shouted far too much which made me feel guilty and everyone else sad. CAn you get out into the sunshine...it looks beautiful outside...does that usually help you?

hellsbelles · 17/01/2010 13:11

can't work out who is who (apart from bof) - I give up!

VinegarTits · 17/01/2010 13:12

Hmmm i am still undecided, think i might postpone the appointment to give me more time to think about it, thanks for your thoughts

YanknCock · 17/01/2010 13:14

FB, yep you have me on facebook! crazy german middle name starting with R.

YanknCock · 17/01/2010 13:15

hells, if you go to the shiney group on facebook and look at the names thread, that's how I had to do it!

I even have a post it note on the side of my filing cabinet to remind me who is who, but only got as far as putting Lizzy and Sazzles on it.

hellsbelles · 17/01/2010 13:16

gotcha! Forgot to send a message though - HL is me.

If I had a reason to have the vaccine (ie asthma etc) I would take it. You and your DCs will all probably be fine either way.

There's some interesting stuff about how in the papers it's reported that doing X doubles yur chance of disease Y. But that this is a wholly useless statistic unless you know your starting chance of disease Y. Doubling from 1 in 10 million to 2 in 10 million is not much. Doubling for 1 in 100 to 2 in 100 is very serious indeed.

If anyone is a geek and wants to see a fun demonstration of some statistics and false positives and stuff they use breast cancer screening as an example here.

YanknCock · 17/01/2010 13:21

FB, no ring sling, just a Kari Me and a Baby Bjorn (thank goodness for generous friend's hand me downs).

Glad you're feeling a bit better. I can't remember if we've talked about depression before, but I've got YEARS of experience

FlamingoBingo · 17/01/2010 13:23

I've banged on about depression ad nauseum on here, but might have been before you joined - I've been so well for the last few months.

hellsbelles · 17/01/2010 13:26

I've got you already shiney

B&Q, that well known place of fun YOu lot a seem to do things that yoru children would actually enjoy on the weekends, when I was young it was always being dragged round B&Q or a garden centre or a carpet shop or something.

Seriously, help me pick something healthy to eat while mildly hungover, I need your help. I am on the sofa with my laptop and the tin of Roses (not finished yet from Christmas) is calling to me. I've only had 1 though.
