Poor thread title, I know....

I think this is our 39th thread and we are still going strong. Our leader Shiney is well what can I say.. just bloody fab.

We do like a lot of cock and cake chat with lots of healthy stuff thrown in too.

We welcome any one who wants to join our thread - just one rule, post post and post more!

Flamingo I hope your day gets better. In reality if it were me, I'd probably not go to the party but I do agree with Georgi that it's not the childrens fault their parents are nutters.

FlamingoBingo · 17/01/2010 11:45

I am now crying doing these fucking clues. They want loads, mum's bought treats for the hunt so I can't get out of doing it. If I do loads of clues, then they'll all be on top of eachother when they're doing the hunt.

Georgi - Lizzy suggested you as a friend on my FB. My name has the word holy in it

MitsubishiWarrioress · 17/01/2010 11:50

Aww FB, that sound like a really tough day. Is there anything you can do for five minutes for yourself that may restore some inner calm? It can tend to spiral for me if I don't take a step back. I really hope you start to feel better and things pick up for you soon. Go with YOUR instincts on the party. The girls will be OK whatever you decide and I think it is important that you get a balance back for YOU toady ((( )))

Yank, AFing once a fortnight is not too good but maybe I am going through the menopause at high speed! [optimistic, hopeful emoticon]

I have Jodrell bank .

Hi DontP.....

Right, off to pick up the DC's,

FlamingoBingo · 17/01/2010 11:56

Lizzylou · 17/01/2010 12:03

Oh FB, what can you do to make it better for you all?
Sorry you are feeling shit, just set something up for the girls and do something that makes you feel better.
Read a book, some music, anything.

Sometimes it all just piles up on you, doesn't it?

Sending unMNly and unShiney

greatwhiteshark · 17/01/2010 12:08

Thanks VT, Mitts and Lizzy.

greatwhiteshark · 17/01/2010 12:12

'tis FB, btw.

Georgimama · 17/01/2010 12:13

Your girls are lucky to have you FB. You are a good person. Time for DH to step up to the plate - this morning after 3 hours of DS on my own I went upstairs and told DH "you're on duty" and went and had a bath.

bellavita · 17/01/2010 12:15

Afternoon

Sorry for those having a crap day

BofF - your room is just fabulous, you talented girl you!

Vinny, what a lovely surprise with the secret santa. Hope you are not coming down with a cold though.

Fanny, it must cost you a fortune with all your entertaining. Your menu sounds absolutely delish.

Had ww bread toasted this morning and I am going to have the rest of the cous cous salad for lunch. Roast chicken dinner for tea.

greatwhiteshark · 17/01/2010 12:18

DH is at work.

Georgimama · 17/01/2010 12:20

OK then, in his absence it's time for you to deploy my favourite babysitter - television.

greatwhiteshark · 17/01/2010 12:22

ha - done that already, Georgi.

I am feeling calmer now. Just need to work out how to stop that black dog from cocking up the rest of the day!

Getting off this computer will help. Eating will help (DD1 has just put the oven on - chip butties for lunch). Getting on and doing some work will help.

VinegarTits · 17/01/2010 12:24

What does everyone think about giving dc the swine flu vaccination?

Ds2 got his letter though yesterday, appointment is this Wed, and i just dont know what to do, i can decide if i want him to have it or not

greatwhiteshark · 17/01/2010 12:26

We had our letters through for the younger three.

My instincts say not to get them done.

Georgimama · 17/01/2010 12:28

Thanks Squeezy - accepted.

And who has the initials AM? I accepted you too as clearly part of the cult.

bellavita · 17/01/2010 12:30

Georgi - tis me. Lizzy sent a request to me to be your friend.

OP posts:
Georgimama · 17/01/2010 12:32

I had a letter before Christmas - DS isn't having it. I think he actually had swine flu in October - it came on very suddenly and really high spiking temperature which went within a day - I had paracetomol suppositries to use if he fitted because he has fitted before, but it passed very quickly (72 hours and all symptoms gone). They are saying many children have had it without their parents knowing that was what was wrong.

Even so, he is a healthy child (touch wood) and to me the vaccine seems too rushed to feel comfortable about it. It doesn't carry the same risk possibilities as a disease for me to take the risk of the vaccine. Unlike MMR which I (stupidly I am told) still don't feel comfortable about, but he did have anyway.

Georgimama · 17/01/2010 12:33

Aw, thanks bella. I'm going to look curiously popular to my few FB friends - not that most would notice of course, too busy playing Farmville.

FlamingoBingo · 17/01/2010 12:37

Ok, about a million times calmer now.

Can you all come and tell me the answer to this question?

TrillianAstra · 17/01/2010 12:49

Morning all. Sorry you're having a rough day Flamingo, but don't blame yourself. Everyone has bad days occassionally, it just can feel a bit overwhelming or like it's getting into a pattern if they come too close together. Maybe now you've had 2 you'll have a nice long stretch of beter days.

I am generally pro-vaccine (being an ex-scientist and all) but haven't looked into this one in a lot of detail obviously. If your children are generally healthy the chance of them having anything serious swine-flu related happen to them is very small. If they have the vaccine the chance is even smaller, but you're only going from very small to very very small.

TrillianAstra · 17/01/2010 12:53

Who is HH? Lizzy has recommended as a friend.

Georgimama · 17/01/2010 12:55

It's me.
