Stupid pc would give me any site except mumsnet last night. What's all that about? Right, I am well behind now, so to catch up..

Trills - impressive will-power. Could just as easily have eaten the lot.

at Flamingo's DD's saying 'pyramids' for periods - I have a terrible habit of saying this too, to the point where DH will say 'have you got your pyramids?'.

TDWP - I'm not sure I can even name 11 types of cheese.

Squeezy - how was the bingo? I went with my sisters/cousins last year, because we thought it would be fun. It was the most intense and stressful two hours ever! They call the numbers really quickly, and quite quietly, and most of us got show-offy and were doing all 6 books, so we were just hunched and sweaty over our tables, desperately trying to keep up. We never even had time to buy a drink. I secretly still enjoyed it though

Shiney - how weird of your nursery. I'm sure everyone will be pressuring them to find out what was said. Can you find out from the other parents?

BitOfFun · 13/01/2010 00:03

Vinny does have gorgeous hair- I can certainly vouch for that. Especially as she didn't mention my overgrown bush that I'm sure she glimpsed Hardihar...

DreamsInBinary, yes, that was the dress I bought- it is nice on, I would recommend it.

Oh, and I haven't been around all night because we went to Ikea again with my mum's barclaycard after to purchase our well-researched sofa on sale for £120 and a few other lovely bits, and we've been getting a gorgeous family lounge room together in the back room. Which was my erstwhile gym which I never ventured into...by the weekend it will be a lovely, totally dd2-proof room with lots of bright colours and snuggly things in, and a perpex fishtank-type construction round the freeview tv so she can be left confidently in there while the adult with her can nip to the loo or the kitchen without worrying, YAY!

We are putting a lockable wall-mounted workstation in there too so that the older two can do homework in there, and leaving one wall blank so we can finally use the projector DP swapped a painting for with my brother and have movie nights in there on a mahoosive 100-inch "screen" if it's hooked up to a laptop Squeeeeee, really excited!

DP is going to copy a couple of Murakami designs onto canvas, and I'm going to hand-make a murakami-style cushion out of felt and velvet, and paint the same design onto a little round table in there.

So we'll have a totally cool funky room which is totally safe, and fun for the older ones to invite their friends to once dd2 has gone to bed.

I am very excited!

A lovely friend with a massive car drove us there, but the car was so full that I couldn't fit in on the way back without lying spread-eagled over the top of all the shopping. Which is not a position I have ever adopted in a car before- at least while it was moving... Luckily, I got home in one piece, and we've assembled the couch and started to get the room together. A good night's work.

Sounds lovey Bof. I will admit to that sofa being on our wish list on ds' and my escape plan. We have tested many and like that the best. IME the ikea sofa covers wash really well but are heavy so take ages to dry.

Right still no sign of snow here, although the town when we get ds' glasses fixed is cut off by the police due to the snow so he is without his glasses. I have more lovely paperwork to do tomorrow morning and evening. Yipee

Me thinks by friday i will need a very very large stiff drink. night all.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 13/01/2010 01:00

Oh just remembered the point to telling you about the snow. Ds wont be going to his dad's this weekend so losing my boy free weekend. Not panicing this time though as he was a pleasure to have about last weekend. Hopefully it will be the same this weekend. Although need to interact with him more this weekend.

Have a good day later.
Night again.

bellavita · 13/01/2010 06:38

Morning

Brrr, tis cold.

Yogga brekka this morning again .

Have lovely visions of BofF being spread eagled

Work this morning and then I am having to treck to the Seat garage for a touch up paint pen - I have a huge chip right on the front of my car bonnet . I did get a quote from them to fix it but they actually respray the whole bonnet and it will be £150 plus VAT.

At the moment, our snow is disappearing and thawing - yay.

What are you all up to today?

Lizzylou · 13/01/2010 07:10

BOF that sounds fab, loving the Murakami designs too, are you dead arty/crafty as well? Bet your DD's will love it.

I had a spa session last night, groomed, plucked, facepack, foot scrub etc last night, then DS2 woke at 5am again so no feeling refreshed here! Have no idea what is going on with him......

traceybath · 13/01/2010 07:32

Its still snowing - aaaggghhh.

We're going nowhere today so I'll be trying to keep 3 dc's quiet whilst DH works - oh what fun.

I can feel the biscuit tin beckoning already.

Fingers crossed our neigbour farmer comes and clears the lane with his tractor.

WhereChaosTheoryRules · 13/01/2010 07:38

we have no snow. Absolutely nothing. very dissappointed. Right to chuck ds out of bed and into a bath. we forgot his nappy last night i have a pile of bedding to do as well.

eek quarter to to. got to go....

Oh no Shiney and Tracey, snowed in is not good.

I drove the car down to our house yesterday as the snow was melting, DH rang to say the the road up the hill was very icy and to leave it as late as possible. Shitting it now, hate driving in the ice and snow anyway.

We've had no new snow, which is good, I suppose.

Georgimama · 13/01/2010 07:54

Hi all - must catch up on thread.

We're snowed in too this morning (waves in general direction of near Marshfield). I'm getting pretty bloody sick of it tbh. DH nearly came a cropper driving home from Bristol last night - genuinely nearly couldn't get up the slip road on the Bath junction.

DreamsInBinary · 13/01/2010 08:45

Lots of snow here, but the nurseries were open, thank heavens. It all looks v beautiful, and I only lost control of the car three or four times driving in...

BoF, that rooms sounds fab.

TrillianAstra · 13/01/2010 08:48

Morning. No more snow here, but not feeling the love for heading into work.

Your new lounge sounds fabulous BoF

bellavita · 13/01/2010 08:58

It looks like it is still about 8.00am here - the sky is very very dark (possibly full of snow?). Lots of black ice about too.

Alicetheinvisible · 13/01/2010 09:02

Not snowing here but looks cold and grey

Just had an enormous bowl of frosties. Not really into cereal, but the last week or so i have a giant bowl of cereal every morning. My weight is sticking around 9st9 atm which i'm quite pleased about considering my eating is a bit mad.

Off to stay and play this morning, DD has been so good shut in the house for the last few weeks but it's not really fair on her just because i'm feeling rubbish.

Have a good (and healthy) day everyone

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 13/01/2010 09:14

Morning all!

BoF sounds like a great plan - much much better than a gym! Thanks for linking that sofa - bargain - I might get one for the DC's room.

We've got a couple of inches here and I've decided to keep the DC off today, can't be doing with falling over whilst trying to hold onto them they are in preschool and reception so it hardly matters.

bellavita · 13/01/2010 09:19

BofF - your room sounds divine.

Is your work school closed Shiney?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/01/2010 09:31

Good morning all.

All our snow has gone

BOF your room sounds lovley and the sofa looks great.

Well DD was up between 11.30 and 1.10 last night, 2 changes of sheets, one cos of leaking nappy and one because she was coughing so hard she threw up, then she woke at 4 and then 5. Very tired today.

Off to get tiles for our kitchen walls and DD's birthday cake.

TrillianAstra · 13/01/2010 09:33

A tiled birthday cake Fanny? Like a gingerbread house in reverse?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/01/2010 09:34

Oops

MitsubishiWarrioress · 13/01/2010 09:36

WOW, I love the sound of your room BoF.

We have treacherous (sp!) ice today, DD was like Bambi, but we laughed most of the way to school.

I have heaps of work to do. Yayy!!

I hope you are OK Alice, curious about your results but as long as it is nothing untoward and you are safe, then that is good.

Right. I ought to crack on.

Sorry for you shiney, I know how frustrating you find it.

TrillianAstra · 13/01/2010 09:39

No oops, just me wilfully misinterpreting your sentence

What's the birthday cake like? How old is DD?

Oh Fanny you must be knackered! I hate nights like that, you poor thing.

Well, dd2 was delighted with the new room- it won't be properly finished with curtains and tv etc until the weekend, but you can see what it will look like now the couch and rugs and big cuddly crocodile draught-excluder type thing are in . She was beaming and giggling and lolling about over everything, and seems to have already bagged a spec for herself along the top of the sofa- she looked very chilled out. I'm really chuffed with it.
