Morning! Snow is melting here, hurrah!

I'm off to Meadowhall in a bit to pick up the macbook, so I should have all letters and brackets back in action.

I love cookbooks too Poledra. I got River Cottage Everday and Cupcakes for Chrismas.
I also go to Kill a Mockingbird, which I am veree excied about reading. :-)

Poledra · 11/01/2010 10:56

Yeeeessssss! Can miss the deadline now as have just been informed that I have been given the promotion!!!

TrillianAstra · 11/01/2010 10:59

Yay, congratulations!

jetcatisfrozen · 11/01/2010 10:59

huge congrate Poledra

VinegarTits · 11/01/2010 11:04

The snow is melting, i am in work, its took me 1.5 hrs to get here though, normally takes an hour

well done on the promotion Poledra, i dont think we have spoke before, are you new to the thread?

MitsubishiWarrioress · 11/01/2010 11:14

Fab poledra!!

Yes it was me... I am reading Siba Shakib's Samira and Samir...but don't get much time.

I am not dong so good today, Having thought we were on an even keel with things the way they are I was subjected to an onslaught of upsetting texts from DC's Dad last night. I shouldn't have read them but they were so out of the blue this time. When I fetched the Kids he was OK with me but it just got worse and worse and I am not in a strong enough place yet not to be floored by them. DS was up all night with a sickness bug, so I am shattered emotionally and physically.

I want and need to sleep I think.

Yay for Poledra

traceybath · 11/01/2010 11:25

Morning - yeay - I got out the house. But heavy snow forecast tomorrow - nooooooo!

Poledera I'm also reading the Nigel Slater book - I do love his writing and his recipes.

Off to make butternut squash and sweet potato soup - yummy.

Haven't actually eaten anything yet today so must go and have some special k.

Alicetheinvisible · 11/01/2010 11:31

Why are there so many trolls about atm?

Poledra · 11/01/2010 11:33

Thanks for your good wishes - so nice when I can't say anything in RL (except to DH of course)

Vinegar, I joined in on the last thread, mainly coz Shiney ordered people to come and say hello, and you cannot disobey Shiney. Here for the chat, principally.

VinegarTits · 11/01/2010 11:35

Yes best not to disobey the Shiney one welcome to the cult thread

Show = housebound = bored = Trolls, Alice

Alicetheinvisible · 11/01/2010 11:38

Congrats Poledra

Vinny - i know but couldn't they at least do something believable?

Bella - phew, glad I didn't annoy you. Trills - will promise to bore you too

Poledra - well done! I too am mad on cookbooks (though I am a pretty rubbish cook). I cannot go past a bookshop (or indeed amazon) without ordering one. I love the way Nigel slater writes (though I cannot bear his on screen persona)...

Squeezy - thanks for that link - it was so funny. As is the 'interesting things you've done' thread - I wonder how many are just making them up - I reckon 80% true 20% utter bollocks.

Lizzylou · 11/01/2010 12:19

Snowing again here, has been lightly snowing all day
Freezing cold n all, got the heating on but still shivering.

Well done on your promotion, Poledra

NormaSknockers · 11/01/2010 12:24

Crikey - I don't log in for a weekend & we're already 12 pages into a new thread Bloody hell you girls talk

I'm finally back on the diet wagon but I fear not in time for a good weigh in on Weds

How are we all??

Alicetheinvisible · 11/01/2010 12:33

Have been sent a voucher for 50% off main meals at La Tasca to be used by sunday. Do i persuade DH to take me out? Bearing in mind i am not dieting, just healthy eating

Just got a letter from the drs saying DD is eligible now for her swine flu jab (because of her age). I'm so unsure whether to give it to her or not. Have any of your DC's had it yet?

NormaSknockers · 11/01/2010 13:14

hells - DS has had the letter too he's definately having it. I spoke at great lengths with my auntie & her partner as he's a GP & she's a practice nurse & they both said it's in his best interest to have the jab & that it's totally safe as it's a dead vaccine & the only real health complaint after has been a sore arm. Apparently back in 1819 (I think it was) there was a large SF pandemic & it went quiet like it has now but it flared up again & killed thousands.

TrillianAstra · 11/01/2010 13:22

I am pro-vaccine, but have no children. If I did and they were offered it they'd be getting the jab (assuming no underlying health problems, but as Norma says it's a dead virus so not likely to cause much in the way of side-effects).

MrsSawdust · 11/01/2010 13:25

Hello all

Blimey Norma, that sort of thing really worries me (that it might flare up again much worse) I would most definitely get the swine flu jab. How old is your ds? Just wondering whether my 17 month dd will get offered it. Hope so.
