Welcome to our 36th healthy eating thread, where we will renew any healthy eating resolutions with all the viguor that the Christmas munchies require...

We chat, keep each other on track, and monitor our goals together- some on the thread have lost shed loads of weight, some are running ridiculous distances. Some, of course (like myself and Shiney, our dubious leader) have been a bit, er, remiss really. But that can all change with a New Year!

Come and introduce yourself, old and new, and let's get Mumsnet's famous Shiney Healthy Eating Thread kicked off for 2010...

Hi all. I am feeling sooooooo tired after thai food, sent DP and friend off to the pub together. She was very sweet and trying to insist that I came along but she came to see him not me and I've used up my sociability adn need to lie down with my big belly full of food.

I am weighing and assessing on 4th Jan (1st day back at work) and if necessary will be following The Lord Ford

TinselianAstra · 30/12/2009 22:26

of your grown-up lovely menus for tomorrow. Sounds much nicer than christmas dinner actually.

Why ar we healthy wealthy and wise? Isn't that what you get if you're early to bed and early to rise? How does it go with auld lang syne? Confused

DingDongBinaryOnHigh · 30/12/2009 22:41

Evening all

I'm DIB and am far too scared to weigh myself. I predict I have put on a stone since the wedding in August, which means I now have 1.5 stone to go.

Have ordered The South Beach Diet (am a shameful copycat) as Atkinds has worked v well for me in the past, but is dreadfully inflexible.

Diet starts in January. Will check in with Lord Ford to keep track.

FlamingoCrimbo · 30/12/2009 22:49

Oh yes, forgot to introduce myself!

I'm Flamingo. I need to lose something like just under a stone now to get to my ideal weight, but I've just managed to get to a normal BMI so I'm officially no longer overweight. I also seem to fit into Next size 8s . I started early on in the shiney thread and was a size 14 and 11st 1lb at the beginning. Now I'm 9st 7lb. I'm actually pretty happy this weight and size, but I want to work on losing my post-many-babies belly and on getting to at least a slightly lower BMI so I have a bit of lee-way!

I keep thinking of going back to the wonderful Lord Ford but, although I found it a huge boost initially, I just can't seem to get back into it. Am Wii Fit-ing at the moment - did 33min this evening of aerobic activities. I've just ordered a new sports bra as my bra size has gone down too, so no excuses not to start running again.

I am going to lose this last stone!

jaquelinehydeThePresents · 31/12/2009 00:22

Good God I'm emotionally drained after watching that.

I'm off to bed, I've got a busy day tomorrow moving bedrooms around. What fun!

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 31/12/2009 00:39

Hello all, I've recently rejoined. Started out as 17st 4lb in March (just after birth of DS), now down to 13st 2lb and feeling good. Another stone or so to go and I'll be very happy.

Been out for the night, was just thinking of pouncing on DH and he's blooday asleep on the sofa! Might just have to wake the old bugger up!

Sazz - sod the black horse, I'm coming to yours! Food sounds ace. You are right thought, the black horse is a lot better. Royal William OK, but not the same. Cranham is our 'when we've made the money we'll live there' village. I quite like sheepscombe too (can't remember the pub name now though).

Just trying to work out what the swingers thread is about before I go to bed sulk next to slumbering DH!

GracieW · 31/12/2009 01:17

Hello all.

Has been a bad couple of weeks with DC's ill so have been in stuffing my face and not moving from the sofa...

here's to a slimmer 2010

Hello.

I'm BelfastBloke.

My favourite is the Northern Tawny-bellied Screech Owl, but I also very much like Vermiculated Eagle Owls and Tamaulipas Pygmy Owls.

Oh, and who doesn't LOVE Forest Spotted Owlets? It's the unusual feathers that draws everyone to them, don't you find?

hellsbelles · 31/12/2009 08:27

oh Binns - will you be suffering on the south beach as well? How nice that I'll have someone to whine to! We aren't allowed to weigh ourselves for the first week I think.

I'm starting t/m.

Posted on the other thread forgetting you are all here.

Shiney - hope Ted has woken up better.

Better get the kids dressed

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 31/12/2009 08:32

Morning all.

BelfastBloke. I wholeheartedly agree.

Shiney - Hope your DS is better.

I've been up since bloody 6 having had a 30 mins CC session at 330 with DS (worked). Feeling marvelous. Sadly the slight hangover has meant 1 toasted tea cake and 1 1/2 pain au chocolat for breakfast (I reckon about 8 points in total on WW, giving me only 15 for the rest of the day - marvelous!)

bellavita · 31/12/2009 09:00

I didn't introduce myself earlier.. I am bella and only 5ft so every bloody extra pound shows. I need to shift about 10lbs. I can do it but need to do ww and stick to the points.

Have ordered lots of nice salady things to come with my shopping today and some more of the Total yog.

Feel really tired this morning and think perhaps I have had too much sleep.

Think I know which thread you are talking about and as soon as I read it I thought and .

DidEinsteinsMum · 31/12/2009 09:13

want to go back to sleep which is shameful onsidering i have had 10 1/2 hours sleep. this is what cronic sleep deprivation does. first good nights sleep and it kills you. Told ds i will be up and functioning for 9.30am that might be a bit optomisitc as i can only just keep my eyes open and they are very very heavy.

All lovely bb but my favourites are the tawny old and barn old. Nothing nice then to watch a barn owl just miss the windscreen as it swope low giving you a heart in mouth moment.

Lizzylou · 31/12/2009 09:26

OOh, DIB, another one for the Suth Beach mini-clique! I am waiting for the cookbook to arrive.

I have weighed myself this morning and you know when I said my BMI was now 25, so officially OK? Well after 10 days of wine, chocolate and cheese it is most definitely NOT ok now. Cannot believe I could have put on so much so quickly!

Off to supermarket later to stock up on salads and cold meats/fish. I will make 2010 the year I lose weight and bloody well keep it off, oh yes.

hellsbelles · 31/12/2009 09:39

lizzy - don't forget blardy diarylea diet cheese, eggs and mini babybel lights . I remember longing for my next slice. I think you are allowed a few nuts as well?! I haven't got the book to hand but I'm pretty sure. Better to get ones you have to shell so it takes longer so sort of stretches out the whole eating experience

DidEinsteinsMum · 31/12/2009 09:45

anyone about on fb? need to say something but not on here.

bellavita · 31/12/2009 09:54

DEM - I am but chat doesn't seem to be available.

You can send me a message though

bellavita · 31/12/2009 09:55

Chat is available now....

DidEinsteinsMum · 31/12/2009 10:00

just sent a friend request. i have obviously been amiss and not done it previously

Lizzylou · 31/12/2009 10:01

Hells, Yes am sure I read that you are allowed walnuts, 15 a day I think (love walnuts). Will stock up on dairylea light stuff. I actually quite like it anyway

Just looking forward to getting rid of the bloated feeling.

DingDongBinaryOnHigh · 31/12/2009 10:11

I've ordered the book, and so will start when it arrives. Or on 4th Jan - whichever comes later

DidEinsteinsMum · 31/12/2009 10:16

Afraid you were wrong last night DIB crashed about 10-10.30pm last night. was shattered.

i have done south beach before but found whilst it was good as a detox i couldnt stick it out long term and i put the weight back on so am interested to see if this is a general thing or just me being crap.

DidEinsteinsMum · 31/12/2009 10:24

Thanks Bella. FB seems to post or delet my stuff and random and that bit dissappear. advice appreciated.

bellavita · 31/12/2009 10:27
  • that's what we are all here for - to help each other.
Lizzylou · 31/12/2009 10:36

You OK, Dem?
My laptop is playing up, can't get into MN unless I use google chrome, and then it plays up.

Right have written a shopping list, walnuts, low fat dairylea, avocados and salad leaves here I come.
