Ok, I did it. Guess what my DDs are watching over and over again at the moment?

Anyway, welcome to everyone to our healthy eating thread - trying to lose weight or just to life a healthier lifestyle (and chatting inanely along the way).

Anyone and everyone welcome, just so long as you're nice! We are not a clique and welcome newcomers, so please join us! But beware - this thread moves very fast - just leap right in

Hopefully this one will fill up particularly quickly so we can lose this rather shit title

Oh I love basil, the smell. You have to crush it a bit (or chop it) to set it properly free though. If you have the secret for keeping Basil alive, pray tell, mine always die

I am going to put on my friends mums lemon (or lime) chicken recipe on the recipe page.

SazZaVoom · 06/10/2009 16:52

water squeezy and a biggish pot. Should last a good 6 months

Sycs recipe (from memory) - something like 1 leek, 100g mush, fry up in light oil spray/small butter, add about 4tbsps stock (veg or chicken) and then 30g phili light. Season a la masterchef. serve on toast

Your recipe looks lovely trills

I have been hit with a godawful headache . Can barely look at the screen - am hoping it is the weather rather than illing a la Shiney

SazZaVoom · 06/10/2009 16:54

norma - your trip sounds awful, glad dd got out ok, and hope she is not too upset by it?

DreamsInBinary · 06/10/2009 17:05

Oh good, good. It's started hammering down just in time for me to leave. The umbrella is in my car, naturally. Which is outside my house as I took the bus this morning

TrillianSlasher · 06/10/2009 17:08

Lovely DIB. I'm a bit worried it'll do that when I'm leaving work on my bike, with my very non-waterproof blazer-shaped suede jacket on. Serves me right for trying to look nice I suppose.

hellsbelles · 06/10/2009 17:22

Had a rather nice time listening to DS learning Purple Haze in his guitar lesson. Stupidly proud (he has very good taste music for a 6 year oldl) - and avoided snacking - hurrah.

DD greeted me home with a big pooh. Why does she always wait till I get home to fill her nappy?! But also got a big wet kiss which sort of helps.

bellavita · 06/10/2009 17:44

for you Norma, blimey, that must have given you a fright.

Saz - love the new name btw, I love that recipe and sometimes I do it with pasta for a more bulked out meal for tea - just mix it all up with the leeky stuff. Yum.

We are having curry for tea.

Gotta dash now and pick up DS2 from Kids Club and then take him to the mobile library to change his books. DH is still mad at him and said if he needs books changing it is tough. So looks like it is down to me them

Catch ya later.

bellavita · 06/10/2009 19:13

I will admit to having a bigger than average chocolate cookie today. Someone brought them in and brought two out to reception for me and my colleague. I couldn't say no could I... did feel guilty though as I ate it.

Where is everyone?

BewareTheFullMoon · 06/10/2009 19:20

I'm picking a picture to discuss on friday before making up expt presentation slides for tomo morning and heading into bath room to play with plastic bottles, water and a torch.

Think its tea time bella. Normally quiet this time am afraid. its good for catching up or quietly lurking in a corner.

FiveGoMadonTheDanceFloor · 06/10/2009 19:20

Should I be getting worried that DD is referring to the dog as her brother

Evening, tis weigh in tomorrow so must be good tonight but the thought of big fat chocolate cookied is making me drool.

FiveGoMadonTheDanceFloor · 06/10/2009 19:22

Will post this weeks recipes later but this week what has been good is the one tray chicken bake, a creamy crab linguine and a chicken curry made with peanut butter.

BewareTheFullMoon · 06/10/2009 19:24

When asked what he wanted for his birthday or christmas the last 2 1/2 years ds has asked for a baby brother or sister. Novatly will wear off. took ds's little cousin to cure that.

BiteOfFun · 06/10/2009 19:25

I'm going to have sausage, mash and peas- tiny portion though, promise

No Shiney yet? She must still be illing, poor love.

Hey Lenin, just seeing that thread made me think: Shiney is definitely a Cagney

Oooh, they'd be mine. They're so sweet and so nostalgic

Great news Slimey

vacaloca · 06/10/2009 20:23

Glad you're better Shiney.

Fivegomad - can't remember the rest of your name: Dorset or Devon? Trying to convince DH to go and see his sister in Exeter but no room at her house and was trying to work out if you were near. I thought I'd bookmarked your place but obviously haven't...

Had chicken and rice and green beans and carrots for dinner. Followed by healthy apple. Followed by healthy Green & Black's Butterscotch chocolate.

hellsbelles · 06/10/2009 20:31

glad to hear you are better SHiney - make sure you have lots of yoghurt to keep the dreaded thrush that usually follows a bout of antibiotics!

FiveGoMadonTheDanceFloor · 06/10/2009 20:32

Vaca - we are Dorset, but a friends mother runs a B&B in Chagford.

Great news Slimey.

vacaloca · 06/10/2009 20:45

Just spoke to DH and it looks like she's just having too many visitors in the next couple of months rather than it being a space issue.

Can you post the link to your place again please? I do like Dorset very much.

FlamingoBingo · 06/10/2009 20:51

Woohoo! Shiney!!! So glad you're better Will you be back to your normal bouncy self now?

Right, I have to ask advice about something non-healthy-food related - should I do it elsewhere and post a link?

bellavita · 06/10/2009 21:03

Shineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey - your back glad you are feeling like you again.

Resisted a mince pie and a biscuit. I would like something, not sure what, but will stay good.

bellavita · 06/10/2009 21:04

Flamingo - after pouring my heart out last night, I don't see why you cannot ask on here...

BewareTheFullMoon · 06/10/2009 21:06

depends wether you only want advice from us or from the whole of mn?

Good to see you feeling better shiney.

ex was in a talkative mood so i still owe ds 30mins of pre promised play and have slides, expts and other stuff to do for tomo.
Anyone about to keep me sane later or have you all got to grab a sensible good nights sleep?
