Ok, I did it. Guess what my DDs are watching over and over again at the moment?

Anyway, welcome to everyone to our healthy eating thread - trying to lose weight or just to life a healthier lifestyle (and chatting inanely along the way).

Anyone and everyone welcome, just so long as you're nice! We are not a clique and welcome newcomers, so please join us! But beware - this thread moves very fast - just leap right in

Hopefully this one will fill up particularly quickly so we can lose this rather shit title

HI all

Well DH got back yesterday evening. After me missing him for 5 days I was ready to kill him when he took up all the bed and snored his blooming head off!

Sushi for lunch and something healthy for dinner.

Hope you are all well.

FlamingoBingo · 07/10/2009 10:43

Hello all

Just got back from taking DD1 and her friend who stayed the night to French club this morning. Then rushing back out in a couple of hours to home ed club, which DH is dropping us at and then......

.......going for a job interview! Selling cars.

Our fingers are firmly crossed. If he gets through this one, he'll have to have another one with the area manager. If he gets it, we'll delay the house-buying for 6 months so we could maybe show that we can afford a bigger mortgage.

Anyway, healthy eating:

I've had readybrek for breakfast. Will probably have a sandwich for lunch. And tuna pasta bake for supper.

DIB - have you remembered what you want to ask me yet?

Lizzylou · 07/10/2009 10:49

FB, good luck for your DH

I also love tuna pasta bake, sssh, don't tell anyone

JugularPiggy · 07/10/2009 10:51

sorry yes its jigglypiggy here with an attempt at a halloween namechange!

Beware - I was on here may/june time but did'nt post much as i could'nt keep up as the threads moved so fast plus I have a mega baby brain as DS was born in may.

Hells - second what Trillian says, weigh once a week at a similar time. I weigh in at SW and if I need reassurance I check on the wii fit but not often as it says your weight varies +/- 2lbish throughout the day! I also have the Paul Mckenna book and have been avoiding it but it does work so I am going to make myself read it today.

Mitsubishi - kickboxing sounds like good fun is it suitable for beginners fitness wise?

DreamsInBinary · 07/10/2009 10:57

Welcome back, JP.

Still not remebered it, FB, but did think of another whilst searching thtough the dark recesses. What sdid you decide to spend the money on in the end? Something extravagent? Something pretty? Fun?

TrillianSlasher · 07/10/2009 11:19

Tomato salad and a (slightly hard by now) cheese scone will be my lunch.

TrillianSlasher · 07/10/2009 12:52

I resisted going ot the pub (not everyone was going so it's okay if I don't) and am eating my tomato salad and cheese scone now.

NormaSknockers · 07/10/2009 13:24

Afternoon all,

Just dashing in very quickly, haven't had a chance to catch up yet but hope everyone is well? Weighed in this morning & lost 1lb, not great but better then a gain

Will catch up properly later, must dash!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 07/10/2009 13:26

I am having a kitkat. For some reson my energy really crashes at about now and the temptation to sit down is overwhelming but if I let my body relax it falls asleep.

The local shop has a sponsor sheet on the counter and someone had signed 'unknown', so I put 'random stranger', and now someone has signed 'nice lady'...it is starting to read like an MN roll call

(well, it amused me!

hellsbelles · 07/10/2009 13:27

Got the most shiteous headache...I suspect I may be about to get a period for the first time in about a year and a half and that might be causing it (pregnancy and breast feeding having stopped it)....urghhh...Makes me want to eat more for comfort. Alternatively it could just be that I'm working...and my brain can't hand it!

Trillian you are good - pub is a killer to a diet isn't it!

Jugular - let's report back to each other when we've read/listen to Mr MCKenna (I've got some sort of CD rom set)....I have heard loads of good things about it so I do think we should at least try!

daftpunk · 07/10/2009 13:31

Poor Shiney, are you still on the antibiotics?

FlamingoBingo · 07/10/2009 16:55

Slimey - how can you be ill again? You were feeling better yesterday. Poor you

DIB - I bought new clothes, and new shoes and have £65 left to buy a slap up meal for DH and I and something else - books, maybe, or more clothes...or a massage

DH's interview went brilliantly. He has a second interview if he wants it. He does want it - he's very excited about it, but he's very nervous about what happens if he has a bad month (it's a commission-based job), we won't have enough money to live that month.

But average months will bring in much more money than we need anyway, and fantastic months will bring in way, way more so I say it's simple, we just save the extra from good months to tide us over on bad months.

But the bad months shouldn't even happen, really - he is very, very, very good at selling. Alan Sugar would love him .

He's trying to decide now whether or not to ring the man again to ask for the second interview.

Lenin! You're making me want to run...but it's raining...and I'm tired...and I had mastitis last night.

TrillianSlasher · 07/10/2009 17:05

Oooh, go for second interview Mr Flamingo.

Yes, good budgeting essential in jobs with fluctuating income. If you're really frugal for the first few months and build up a buffer of savings you can then adjust to new higher salary later on.

BiteOfFun · 07/10/2009 17:31

Sounds exciting, Flamingo!

Oh dear Shiney- you obviously overdid it yesterday when you were feeling a bit better. You need to channel your inner Victorian Lady and get onto the idea of convalescing! That means at least two couch days even after you feel better.

FiveGoMadonTheDanceFloor · 07/10/2009 17:40

Norma - well done, a lb is a lb. My weigh in is in an hour. (nervously bites fingernails and steps away from the toaster)

FlamingoBingo · 07/10/2009 17:44

Ok, he rang the bloke, asked him the things he didn't get time to ask in the interview, all looking very good indeed.

We just wrote out a list of pros and cons and all the cons seem to be surmountable in some way or other IYSWIM.

DH has asked for the second interview - just need to wait to hear from the area manager now about when it will be.

It really is exciting. For the first time in TEN YEARS DH would be getting THREE WHOLE ENGLISH DAYS off at Christmas. There are quite a few holiday restrictions - when he can take it, the fact they like them to take holiday in chunks rather than days off here and there - but because he'll only be paid basic rate while he takes A/L, he gets a £250 holiday bonus to tide him over! .

The thing I'm very, very excited about his him handing his notice into his shithole of a current job!

bellavita · 07/10/2009 18:02

Go for it MrF

Shiney, you over did it yesterday my lovely - you need to rest.

I am mentally exhausted, bloomin busy at work today with kids running riot and parents ringing up, us ringing parents, the phone never stopping.

Nipped to Tesco for some yoghurt and lasagne sheets and spent £34

We are having lasagne tonight - better taste good seen as it cost so much
