I think this is thread 10. We are an unruly bunch of MNetters trying to shed a lot a little or just some pounds through a variety of methods. Others just trying to eat healthily.

Newcomers most definitely welcome, just be advised the post rate is insane so be sure to check in regularly!

Our hostess Ms Diamond will be along soon I'm sure.

Not more fun I missed! I could have been involved too as was up until goodness knows when with DD3 and DD4

DH a bit better today - hasn't had to take his buccastem. He needs to be better for tomorrow so we can go camping. Must call GP today for an appt. for him and one for DD4 with her weird urticaria.

I am fine, just completely exhausted - late bed, and doing twice the work I normally do

Welcome to ella and tummytickler (I nearly wrote 'tonsiltickler' then )

Tennis and choir today - going to leave DD3 with DH so it'll be a little bit easier to manage than usual! Also need to get supplies for our camp - we're having a 'pimp my tent' competition so need to get fabric paints and cheap pillowcases to make some flags! I was going to do bunting too, but it's going to use too much fabric.

But remember you can alway earn more calories by doing exercise. i keep chanting that in the vague hope i might find motivation to get off arse and do something.

pokes those who are up and said they'd look at my complaint letter. It needs to go today.

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/08/2009 09:47

Am tired and grumpy. It was a bad nightds was up around six times after i turned computer off last night. and is currently be a major PITA!.

SycamoretreeIsFullOfResolve · 03/08/2009 09:57

The post is in the namechange.

SycamoretreeIsFullOfResolve · 03/08/2009 09:58

No, this does not mean I was at Reality's Partay....

melmog · 03/08/2009 10:00

Morning all.

I cannot believe how quickly this thread moves! I went off to bed at half eight as I have a stinking cold. Just been reading through some of last nights shenanigans.

I've started the day badly. Had a poorly lie in til eight which was lovely followed by readybrek for breakfast. That should be enough but I've just had 2 of the home made chocolate chip cookies that are left. I seem to think that I need to get rid of them quickly so I can start eating more healthily.

Just tried the food focus thingy but my connection is playing up I think. Will try again later.

I think I might find it too much counting calories tbh. My biggest problem is sitting here or on the sofa reading and not getting off my arse and doing any exercise.

My excuse is that dd1 dislikes the buggy as she wants to walk but she walks at a snails pace. My days of pounding the prom prom prom with both girls strapped in are gone. That was my big get fit plan and I have no plan b.

If anyone has some free ideas I'd appreciate it? At the moment the most exercise I get is ddoing the housework or gardening. (Not today though as poorly!)

Marthasmama · 03/08/2009 10:01

Morning. Right as of today no more yummy naughty take aways or other unhealthy deliciousness. I am diet grrrrrrrrl!

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/08/2009 10:04

argh make that ds is being a pita.

Lizzylou · 03/08/2009 10:06

OK, have been tempted by this thread and chickened out before, but now I really need to do something about myself.

So,can I join you lovely ladies?

I need to lose about 1.5/2stone and get fit again, I managed it 18mths ago and it has crept back on. I am a yo-yo dieter extraordinaire, since September diet and exercise has gone out the window as I started back to work. I now need to get into a routine now I work and no longer run around after my boys all day.

Be gentle with me though

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/08/2009 10:14

hello Lizzylou! jump in join the madness. we move fast and take no prisoners we it comes to thread speed but they are a frienly bunch on whole.

Marthasmama · 03/08/2009 10:19

I'm just about to have porridge for breakfast as DH has not been shopping yet bless him.

Hello Lizzylou. I've yo-yoed for most of my life and want to get thin permanently too. It's so depressing to get slim only to put it all back on and have to start over again isn't it?

Right so as of today no wheat and no dairy for this fatty. Also no cakes, no crisps, no sweets and only a tiny bit of 85% chocolate. May as well go and live in a cave..... I might need to call on you ladies to hold me back from the bread at times as bread is my biggest down fall.

Lizzylou · 03/08/2009 10:23

Hi DidEinsteinsMum and Marthsmama, so, what do I do now? Join you in the cave?
Have done most diets, SW, WW, juicing, fags and booze (that was fun, but was a student and it is not practical now), I need to get into the healthy eating for life mindset I think.
I am always good during the day, but it is the evenings when my resolve snaps and the chocolate/wine appears.
I have got back into running, which always helps, and have a yoga DVD to start doing, it's just fitting it all in.

Marthasmama · 03/08/2009 10:27

Lizzy - I'm doing what I know works for me. Don't cut things like wheat or dairy out unless you have good reason (I'm intolerant which means they make me bloated and make feel terrible!) I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable ladies will be along soon. I have to confess that I am worried I won't lose weight without the aid of lovely fags......

LovingTheRain · 03/08/2009 10:31

waves HI Lizzylou, I am new too!

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/08/2009 10:36

I was recommended to look at food focus and find that quiet good. Especially as it makes me think about what i am eating. I do as i feel and try to be good. but i have RL issues that get in way of dieting/exercise stuff and at mo happy just not putting on any more. Personally i am trying to look at what i need mineral and vitamin wise and incorporate it and reduce fat and sugar and heavy carb food. (ie pasta with bread or just pasta and cheese meals). I second MM on not cutting stuff out you dont need to. I ate some a free from biscuit last night and was surprised how bad for you calorie wise it is. I am supposed to cut out dairy as it makes my joints swell and affectives my digestion but i like cheese too much
Food focus is free and here and worth a look even if you dont use it completely.

Lizzylou · 03/08/2009 10:45

Right, am on FF.
Have entered my breakfast (small amount of muesli, natural yoghurt, grapes and blueberries), I will need to get strict with entering all of my food, but no pain no gain.
Am allowed 1170 cals per day.
How much wine is that?

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/08/2009 10:51

Just remember you can earn more calories but doing more exercise! very good when you want need a treat

SycamoretreeIsFullOfResolve · 03/08/2009 10:54

Welcome Lizzylou. Off out for most of today but get stuck in with lord focus, he is much appreciated round these parts.

I myself am ex-lighter life, maintaining now and trying to lose another 10lbs on WW.

I am stuck in a rut though - not much shifting in weeks now. Got to lower my calorie/points intake....I will do it (can you tell my by new name?)

OK, I succumb!

I wanna lose a stone or a stone and a half. Have just joined food focus and it looks really good.

Have also downloaded a couple of free exercise videos from here. Will try and do one or two a day.

Am going to Aldi today to stock up on their cheapo fruit and veg. Have also taken the huge step of changing from full fat to semi skimmed milk and from salted Lurpak to the Omega 6 Flora spread....well, it's a huge step for me anyways. Any suggestions of other such cutbacks are more than welcome?

Shall try my best to keep up with this thread but it moves SO fast

DidEinsteinsMum · 03/08/2009 11:09

Waves at holy and disappears to get up and out

Lizzylou · 03/08/2009 11:11

Hi Holy, ama newbie too (and a wave back to LTR and Shiney and Syc).
Have logged my dinner for tonight on FF(roasted veg with polenta and passata) and also my planned 30min run, will have to do it now!
Have loads of calories to play with, will be sticking with fruit as have no low fat no hassle meals prepared for lunch (need to get back to making batches of healthy soup).

Am definitely going to get into those jeans I bought last Christmas (have never managed to do them up ) and also would really like to look at a photo of myself without crying, that would be nice.
I know I can do it, I just need a kick up the ass.
