...and I don't mean that you've "heard that someone at X school/street/place" has had it, I mean someone that you actually know really has had it/has got it.

I don't know anyone that has and wondered if thats the case for the majority of people on here or not?

Me and DD. She also had a horrible rash which was a reaction to the virus apparently.
16 kids in DD's school also off with it last week and all their siblings etc.
Our baby didn't catch it though.

DrTrillianAstra · 19/07/2009 16:58

Yep, a girl at work. 'Spoke' to her on Facebook. She says it's just like having flu (obviously)

Jaquelinehyde · 19/07/2009 17:03

Yes, my neighbour has it. Several children at school.

DP is in bed at the moment with it.

DD2 had it and got over it very quickly.

Me, DD1 and DS all clear so far.

I have strict hygeine rules in place at the moment.

Kas26 · 19/07/2009 17:03

yes, my DD currently has it - GP confirmed. Main symptom was fever of 41C and swollen eye - no cold, cough or sore throat. After numerous checks (but no SF swag) they found no other cause that swine flu. Since taking the tamiflu the cold has emerged but on the whole she is doing well. DH, DD2 (23 months) and I don't have any symptoms though so fingers crossed! .

Think my sister (teacher) and my father has had it although this has passed after about 10 without tamiflu. Currently know 3 other friends with it...

NorbertDentressangle · 19/07/2009 17:29

Right, I started this thread yesterday as I didn't know anyone who had it and it seemed as if I was in the minority.

I've now just found out that 2 children in DS's class (reception) have got it. School only broke up Friday so theres every chance DS has been playing with them all week.

Four teachers at my school, all confirmed and taking Tamiflu. I sent home eight students the week before last, with high temps and sore throats. 5 of them were confirmed.

cocolepew · 19/07/2009 19:43

DD had it bad, me and DH have a milder version.

devotion · 19/07/2009 19:48

my mum and dad and now my mil and fil. two are over 65 and two are under 65

furrycat · 19/07/2009 19:48

Given that they have said today that the under 5s are at hightest risk, how many cases do people know of involving pre-schoolers? And were they particularly ill/ likely to end up in hospital?

(Paranoid mum of two under fives in case you were wondering)

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 19/07/2009 19:49

Apparantly, most of my clients have it and cannot now make in, funny I am not surprised!

My DH has it, had to go on a mad dash to find an open pharmacy for his tamiflu yesterday. Im beginning to feel a bit crappy and im 20 weeks pregnant so apparantly im quaranteened forever now...
DS who is 2 and a half has spent the day fake coughing and sneezing into tissues.
My workmates DH has it but he was hospitalised because he has some variation of CF and has to have AB every 2 months anyway so we're all very worried about him atm.
All in all its very crappy.

The Dr I spoke to on the phone said DH had to have it because of his heart condition, me being pregnant and having DS under 5. If it wasnt for those factors he wouldnt of bothered prescribing it.
I think they are letting otherwise healthy people just ride it out now.

furrycat · 19/07/2009 20:54

Sorry to hear than lockets- hope he is OK

orangehead · 19/07/2009 21:29

I know two people with it

sceptic · 19/07/2009 21:32

I had a glass of wine with a Home Office pathologist today. He is yet to work on a swine flu case and rolled his eyes at my mention of it.

Not something to worry about.

uberalice · 19/07/2009 21:33

No

Ripeberry · 19/07/2009 21:43

Two people in my DD1's school (only small village school of 50 kids).
I'm not bothered by this 1st wave, its the next wave in Winter that will be the nastiest.
Been watching too much You-tube for my own good, especially Al-Jezzera news as they are so smug that they don't have much of a problem but think the USA and UK are hotbeds of disease
They won't be so smug when it gets to their continent(s)
I'm also shocked about the amount of threads on MN about swine flu!

tiredemma · 19/07/2009 21:45

ds2 had it.

amazonianwoman · 20/07/2009 10:44

No, none yet

ilovemydogandmrobama · 20/07/2009 10:50

DD -- definite maybe. Has some symptoms, and has been in contact with children who had it, but GP wasn't sure, but based on her chest problems, felt she should have Tamiflu.

No appetite, except for chocolate ice cream

eeyore2 · 20/07/2009 13:48

Yes - a colleague of mine (known very well to me), a colleague of dh's (same) and a friend of mine who is a GP. The GP was swabbed and confirmed for definite. The two colleagues were told by their GP it is almost certain.

paranoidmother · 20/07/2009 14:06

Yes my sister in law's partner (he's a fireman and she's in the police) he's had it a few weeks, both live in the swindon area.
