Am just posting from the confines of the en-suite bathroom 'cos I am sure that when I mention "mumsnet" to my mum she thinks I am involved with some sort of "hippy commune", she does, honestly! She sort of screws her face up when I talk about it.

Have had two gin and slimeline tonics - good job I can't actually talk to you lot, because my mouth won't say what the brain wants it to - taking me bloody ages to type this...

Have just put the cajun chicken in the oven. We are having with it a salad (with ssshhhh feta cheese in it), green beans in viniagrette (sp) and garlic, couscous and baby new pots.

We have had some dips this afternoon with our drinks - avoided the tortilla chips and headed for the pepper and cucumber

Catch up with ya later when I come to bed.

Love to you all - see I say things when I am giddy!!

flamingobingo · 20/06/2009 17:16

Ooh, also wanted to show off my fantastic restraint skills today.

Mum and Dad took us to Costa Coffee, where I used to always have a hot chocolate and a triple chocolate muffin. Today the children all had a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows and a muffin. I had.....

....a diet coke

I used to do the FF but found it too hard to log everything as I make from scratch a lot of things and it didn't seem to be on there.

Feeling really low atm and just too crowded with the kids

BalloonSlayer · 20/06/2009 17:23

Fab if it makes you feel better I had a McDonald's cheeseburger for lunch with two small portions of chips and a little something slipped to me by DH surreptitiously (Jaffa cake).

So, yeah, all gone wrong for me today too but it could have been worse! I could have had a milkshake instead of a diet coke. I could have had a Qpounder with cheese instead of a cheeseburger. Celebrate the small victories, hey!

28" round the waist this morning. Yay. Had to pull tape very tight, but still .

TrillianAstra · 20/06/2009 17:24

I am logging the things I cook under 'create meal' and inputting the flour, butter, etc for the whole recipe. Then when I have a cheese scone I can log 1/12 of tht recipe. (dammit, 136 cals, just done it, was hoping for less)

flamingobingo · 20/06/2009 17:31

fab I do the same as TA - do 'create meal' and then give yourself 0.2 of it (or whatever portion you have of it normally). If you cook similar meals regularly, you'll soon not have to do that and will have a nice bank of meals to input in one go.

It sounds like you're feeling pretty crap right now, though. Maybe worrying about diet is one thing too much for you? It's only going to be helpful if it distracts you from feeling crap, or actively makes you feel better.

What about stopping diet things today - one less thing to worry about - and coming back on here tomorrow if you feel better? Then we can encourage you without risking making you feel worse!

Woohoo Balloon!

I hadn't thought of measuring waist as a guide to progress. Will commence todat

I look in the mirror and feel middle aged. My grandmothers on both sides were big and I feel I am heading the same way.

I was never really one for putting pounds and pounds on but with DC3 I put 3-4 stone on when pregnant and have half of it still to lose and he is 4.

DH has reminded me my period is due on Monday so is cutting me loads of slack but I know he is fed up with how I am with the kids.

The sad thing is I cleared out a cupboard today and when I looked in it to put something away, and saw how tidy it was, I felt calm and happy.

Sycamoretreeisvile · 20/06/2009 17:39

Fab - the steak sandwich is not bad at all. It's just that you definitely need to track what you're eating somehow. Either just by totting up calories or by doing something like WW points.

When you don't keep track, you will always tend to eat more than you ought to if you want to shed the pounds.

There is nothing more demoralising than slogging at something and getting nowhere. I really truly believe writing down or logging in your food is the only way to go.

It may not be time for you to properly dig in on the weight front (took me 2 years to face my pg weight gains)but you can use this thread however you want. Even just to make better choices? Or just to have a moan if it stops you eating that choc caramel shortcake

Gotta go and bath the kids now and get ready for the big night out tonight. Am exhausted and don't much feel like going tbh.

SuperBunny · 20/06/2009 18:04

Thanks for the welcome.

Flamingo I feared it would be the old 'eat less, move more' thing. It's so hard when you are greedy and lazy I really need to lose 10lbs to get to my normal weight. Another 10 would be a bonus but not necessary. I just walked 2 miles and will do another 2 later. 11

I will look at FF

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 20/06/2009 18:09

I am hoping I might have burnt calories through frustration at trying to input what I have had.

bellavita · 20/06/2009 20:17

Have a lovey time Syc

Ok, overate a wee bit at pizza hut, but have still come in under cals burnt so not a huge issue! It was very, very yummy - I can recommend the rocket and proscuitto tuscani pizza (and surely the rocket counts as one of my 5 a day? .

sazzles fab about the potty - well done! Keep going - she'll be dry in two weeks, I'll bet!

fab FF does get easier - stick with it if you can

DD4 (9m) still poorly . I hope her temp has gone tomorrow or we'll be off to the doc. She's had it on and off since Wednesday night! Manky nappies, and more grumpiness and sleepiness than usual but no other symptoms whatsover - obviously a random baby infection but it's taking ages to go

Outlaws are coming over tomorrow afternoon. DH has the day off so will be running before I cook our roast chicken meal.

Right, had better go downstairs, can only pretend to be on the loo for so long...

Hi harley

FairMidden · 20/06/2009 20:50

Oh dear, I've totally lost track of who's doing what, where and when. Are you all OK?

Hopefully I will get peace for a while tonight

Can anyone give me a quick precis of the thread over the last day or two? [flutters eyelashes]

TrillianAstra · 20/06/2009 21:30

Sorry about DD flamingo - hope it sorts itself out soon.

I confess, I ate skittles while watching the new TErminator film. It was pretty good actually. I also saw an awesome trailer for the new Harry Potter film!!!!! They tokk the de-de-de-deee-de-dah-dah music and made it menacing!

vacaloca · 20/06/2009 21:34

Just popping in for a quick update.

A MUCH better day today, at least in terms of will power. I went to Pizza Express with my parents and while they all had a pizza I had a Ceasar salad - DH's face looked like this .

I also went shopping and found out to my great surprise that I could fit into a size 12 (I was a 16 not long ago). Now it may be that it was the shape of the dress or that particular brand, but I'm happy anyway and to celebrate I bought myself 2 dresses. Here and here.

Then for dinner my mum cooked some really fatty chorizo meat and I gathered enough courage to ask if it was okay if I just reheated some of yesterday's lamb for me. DH's face looked like this . Again.

So now they know I mean business and will try and be good the rest of the week. I haven't logged anything about the last 3 days in FF. I wonder what happens if I just leave it blank.

Welcome to superbunny and ponymum. VT - don't dispair. My weight doesn't change much but I've noticed my jeans fit better now. Have you measured yourself?

Sorry it's all a bit me, me, me at the moment. It's difficult to get to the pooter and I can't read the whole thread.

Oh, one last me-me-me! I'm going to Silverstone tomorrow. I'm stupidly excited.

SuperBunny · 20/06/2009 21:36

Oh gosh, this is hard.

All I have eaten today is:

strawberries (quite a lot)2 spoons of yoghurt, a tiny slice of homemade pizza
2 cups of tea
small cup of juice

and FF is telling me I only have 300 calories left. It's only 3:30

lol @ sazzle's DD.

vacaloca · 20/06/2009 21:37

Supperbunny - I don't know how to break this to you. It's 9.30pm.

SuperBunny · 20/06/2009 21:38

Lovely dresses vaca
