For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

FrannyandZooey · 20/06/2009 21:54

oh roll on thursday
can we have another meet up so we can meet SB and SB jr?

pointy you have surpassed yourself
by rights i should now swear at you but i am too nice for that [pious]

FrannyandZooey · 20/06/2009 21:55

i always say the internet is the only vice i have left now

mollyroger · 20/06/2009 22:29

i have picked a load of bilberries today - muffins or coulis?

And we scored 24p punnets of raspberries and blackberries in Asda so am feeling berry berry full

I know it sound stupid but I have not got a clue how to begin selling stuff on ebay. I will get ripped off for sure!

dh's meeting on wed is apparently cancelled anda friendhas offered to baby sit. Bu I don't think we can justify going out.

dh has not had paid work for 6 weeks now. He is involved in a project but it is all jam tomorrow, waiting for fuding to come in.

mollyroger · 20/06/2009 22:31

funding

fran, you do seem to have lovely places to visit

SB, keping everything crossed for you that all goes smoothly

x

pinepples are only £1 in asda at the moment

CKelpie · 20/06/2009 22:40

That sounds really stressful mollyroger, I hope work picks up soon.

I love the phrase 'dirty pinapply secret' FrayedKnot!

SuperBunny I am with you in the shame department today...I went to an agricultural show and the nearest I got to F&Vs was the grass my venison burger grazed on previously.

Well done with 8 Flappy.

pinkspottywellies · 20/06/2009 22:44

Molly, pineapples are about 40p at the market here

DH has got to be interviewed for his job on Wed. There will be redundancies but I think he's pretty safe. Feel a bit wobbly about it though. Specially seeing as I don't work.

Papillon · 20/06/2009 22:50

Nice to see this place still going strong.

My virtual world skills have dropped right off, maybe I should see a therapist about it

Admit here with head hung in shame that my fruit and vege eating skills are in very very bad shape. I have an insistence on living on fresh air and growing plants instead. I need a PA to feed me

Hello All x x

SuperBunny · 20/06/2009 23:02

40p pineapples? That can't be right! Even a pound seems not enough. Surely the pineappple people can't be making any money on them? That's as far as my ethics go - I'd be stocking up on pineapples if I were you lot. I have a tin of them... I might treat myself later

Hello Papillon (and everyone else too, I just meantion P because she is a rare visitor)

SuperBunny · 20/06/2009 23:27

And yes, will deffo have to have a meetup at which I will be present!

SuperBunny · 20/06/2009 23:36

deffo? wtf

definitely

SuperBunny · 21/06/2009 00:56

Oh, Molly - how is the not smoking going?

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2009 09:45

hello Paps! lovely to see you

bunny, good, i thought you would say no chance were you meeting us lot

molly this was 1 h 20 mins drive so not exactly nearby
and we got lost so was about 1 h 45

not meant to be on here, am hiding upstairs
poor dp wants to go on a bike ride - alone - i must go and help with dc

FrayedKnot · 21/06/2009 10:47

Morning all

DH unfortunately got to leave for the airport at 12 as he's going away with work.

However as a consequence I just cooked a big brunch which donated 4 portions to my 10

Feel sorry as otherwise we probably would have gone out somehwere.

40p seems ridiculous for a pineapple doesn;t it.

Guadalupe · 21/06/2009 14:26

40p seems absurd!

That park is fab isn't it, Franny? It was heaving when we were last there.

Just home from the beer festival not a little worse for wear. It was a beautiful view but our friends mostly have babies not toddlers and the edge of the camping area, around 20 yards away, was a sheer cliff. Not really ideal for ds2 who as you know likes to run away fast. It wasn't that relaxing till he was asleep and then we upset the whole camp by being that horrible loud party where people sing and shout and act like idiots until the sun rises.

I feel rough and I deserve no sympathy, but I am very pleased with myself for making a shepherds pie and berry crumble before I left yesterday. Bonus.

littlerach · 21/06/2009 14:55

Sounds lika a greta night, Guad, except for the cliff

We have had a BBQ and I have eaten my own (substantial) body weight in slad leaves and dleicius perfect tomatoes.

Plus
sweetcorn
carrots
avacado ( a v good one)
cucumber
pepper
strawberries

We bought dh a weeping pear tree and "hid" it in the garden.
He found it last night so acted surprised today

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2009 15:19

i just can't get going today
have been grumpy with boys
ds1 and dp have gone swimming
i am meant to have gone to gym - did not
am meant to be sorting some stuff out for work - have not
but MUST
so am kicking my own arse off here
ironically ds2 just wants to crawl about and play happily as if inviting me to sit and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
however i must stir my stumps
what a revolting phrase that is

yes no more talking nonsense on the internet for me
no indeed
i am outta here
any minute now
definitely
i'm going
don't stop me

Guadalupe · 21/06/2009 15:25

A weeping pear tree sounds lovely. That reminds me, they'd sold out of perry before I got there, was most annoyed about that.

Doing nothing is goOd for you I say.

I think dh might be making pimms. He appears to feel dandy.

SuperBunny · 21/06/2009 16:13

Pimms

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 21/06/2009 19:03

Oh I love Pimms. It's also a good way to help the daily consumption of fruit!

It sounds like you had a lovely weekend Guad, except for the cliff of course

banana
juice
olives x2
salad
grapes
tomatoes
apple
strawberries
raspberries

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2009 19:33

well i achieved nothing except bathing the boys together on my own, which sounds pathetic but has been one of the anxiety points for me since ds2's eczema, so it was a big deal for me

also watched gruffalo dvd with ds1 - is soooo funny
the gruffalo man's face is just a hoot
and the others v good, but he is just a gift to that show

apple
pineapple
raisins
banana
carrot
chickpeas
cauli
broccoli
corn on the cob
nectarine
banana
prunes

12

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2009 19:36

darn it
checked portion thing
11.5

pointydog · 21/06/2009 20:17

what exactly is Pimms? I have seen bottles of it and I assume it is alcohol. What do people put into it?

SUnday breakfast alwasys high in fat, carb, protein and fat so my list is not so good.

grapefruit juice
tomatoes
carrots
chick peas (plus more tomato, coriander, onion - Delia's frijomole recipe which is tasty)
corn on the cob
beetroot
apricost
strawberreis

Evening

Took DS swimming in the primordial soup pool which was actually freezing because of a technical fault, then there was an awful moment when some kid eitehr hurt themselves or collapsed or something and we were all ordered out of the water and paramedics were everywhere & DS had a tantrum because he didn;t want to get out

We rallied a bit and went into the park afetrwards

Possibly 8 portions

Guad festival sounds good, despite cliff

Franny are you OK?
