Wake Pea Up Before you Goji - 10/10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

perhaps you just can't keep away because you find us all so stimulating, 100?

molly that is big decision!

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 11:14

(i don't think we really need to feel enthused or otherwise by eahc others lists
it is not the most exciting part of the thread really)

mollyroger · 19/06/2009 11:24

I oftern get meal envy reading some of your lsist

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 19/06/2009 14:48

Molly...tough call..I am thinking about moving DD rather than leave her in a school where they have not managed DS's issues too well. But without a car it would complicate tings and she has some good friends.

Dithering also, a lot going on in her little life at the moment.

I have been asked to do a commission that isn't really my 'thing' and am dithering about that as well...big part wants to do it but part of me is cautious. (it is sign writing -completely different to my work but is a big thrill to do it even though it takes me Aaaaaaaaages).

Need to decide though....

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/06/2009 15:49

Mits, DO THE COMMISSION.

I often get meal envy reading people's list, especially with Guad. She sounds like a chef. My cooking is more Little Chef.

SB - re allergy testing. I guess it depends how good your GP is at referring, and also what the waiting list is like in that PCT. So I think the answer is, how long is a piece of string?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/06/2009 15:52

Oh, and I have just made my Dad's Father's Day present.

Some homemade Granola a la 10/10 He is going to LOVE IT. He (still) always says I don't need to bother buying him presents, just make him a homemade card.

I am not artistic, so I thought a homemade present is pretty good.

I've stuck a little ingrediants list on the box too!

I love my Dad

Guadalupe · 19/06/2009 16:04

lol at Little Chef. Can you still go there?

I only post the good stuff not the boring nights. Last night I had cheese on toast, though it was very mature cheddar on doughy rye bread with a scrape of mustard, slivers of red onion and topped with sliced cherry toms and gooseberry and coriander chutney and a glass of Rioja. Sorry, I will stop being annoying now.

I had to complain to the council this morning. One of the recycling men thundered on the door and demanded to know if that white van was mine and then ordered me to move it as it was blocking the whole road. I said I didn't have the keys and my husband was away and he started shouting even louder. He was very aggressive and said that they would have to take the side of the van out if I wouldn't move it.

Two wheels were on the kerb as they should be and it couldn't be any different because of a tree, and the bin men got past last week so I don't know he was on about. So I complained. Now I wonder what will happen as I walk to school past them doing the bins every week. Groan moan etc.

littlerach · 19/06/2009 16:12

God I can't catch up with you lot

I am picky about cups and mugs.
Have ot have my breakfsast one at the right time of the day.
Don't like big mugs.
Have some teeny ones that dh calls my thimbles.
And yes, I can taste if there's been milk in it too.
At work I have the white mugs as you can tell they are clean

Anyway.
We had strawberries and peas from the garden last night.
they were divine.

Dd1 is being split from her friends next year as they have split year groups/classes and she is going up a class and they are not.

She was v upset yesterday but seems ok today.
And she got her Platinum award today

SB, dd2 told them that daddy had been crying every night because he doesn't want his family ot move back here
And that he hates babies.
And then asked how babies get into your tummy!!!!!!

My friend has a 5 month old, hence the last question I htink!

Am off to a homemade jewellery party otnigh and am hoping to spend lots of money

Oh, I wear glasses and they are burgandy rims.
Usually contacts though.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/06/2009 16:15

See, SEE.

Your bloody cheese on toast is gourmet. No Cathedral City and Warburtons for Guad

It does sound divine though

I bought some rye bread last weekend at a Farmers Market. It felt like the weight of a brick, but it was actually light and very tasty.

You were good to contain your composure with the bin men. I'm quite laid back, but situations like that bring out my inner fishwife

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/06/2009 16:16

Hello LR

Anymore TT holes in your lawn?!

Guadalupe · 19/06/2009 16:25

We do have Cathedral city sometimes! I am off wheat again so got myself a rye loaf but I eat so much of it. I'd already had loads of toast for breakfast.

SuperBunny · 19/06/2009 16:39

That Bin man must've had a tough morning to end up shouting like that. Seems a little OTT.

I won't hold out hope for an allergy test then but will use the special lotion then wrap my hand in cling film as instructed

LRs DD2 sounds lovely!

Guadalupe · 19/06/2009 16:56

Well, I don't care whether his hamster had died or whether his milk was off. He is employed by the council to do a job not to be threatening, regardless of his morning. I had to describe him. He doesn't sound good on paper.

SuperBunny · 19/06/2009 17:14

Yes, I was saying he was OTT

pointydog · 19/06/2009 17:27

my daily food:

Breakfast: home made granola with sultanans in it or sultana bran and coffee (I don't have fruit juice because I try to save it for the dds but fuck 'em, my need is greater now). SHould aime for 2

I am really not hungry at breakfast time and am in such a rush that I couldn't face eating more.

Snack: banana (switched from cereal bar so that is good) 1

Lunch: Problem area No 1. School dinner. I cannot abide making a packed lunch, regardless of how many fuhs and vuhs I could squeeze in. I have one and sometimes two veg portions. Cannot squeeze in more because you know what school dinners are like. Tasty but rather stodgy. I could take anaother bit of fruit though. AIm for 2 minimum.

Snack: Problem Area No 2. I try to have olives but I have a cup of coffee and want to eat something soft ansd sweet so usually have a kitkat. I will try to switch to apricots here. Aim for 1

Tea: I make the tea so I pack in my portions here. 2 or 3, occasionally more

Snack: I try to have one or two bits of fruit. 1 or 2

Thanks, fran. I have re-read that and I should be able to make 10.

Guadalupe · 19/06/2009 17:30

There is an answer to your snack problem, pointy, it is called Graze. Have you heard of it? Do you need a code?

pointydog · 19/06/2009 17:33

lol, guada.

I am aware of graze and I have thought through a graze scenario in my head but I think it would be an unnecessary £3 expenditure for me as I have healthy snacks - I just need to choose to eat them over kit kats!

If I was going to graze, I would choose you as my graze leader, if that counts for anything

Guadalupe · 19/06/2009 17:49

lol, well I will log the sentiment.

I know what you mean. I eat the thing immediately so it hardly solves snack problems, it's just a treat.

I try and have dried apricots but sometimes the packed lunch jar calls, though I have banned dcs from pilfering it so I would feel guilty if I did. Not eating wheat atm anyway so no Caramel Wafers, Geobars or Taxis for me.

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 18:17

LOL at guad's gourmet cheese on toast
i expect most of the lurkers just hang around to read what you have had for dinner

pointy GOOD that is MUCH BETTER
no-one is asking you to eat MORE but you can surely fit in 3 at breakfast time if you eat less cereal? oh anyway, your plan will work without 3 at breakfast, so good stuff
about the afternoon sticky treat
what about chocolate covered fruit and seeds or something? or a fruit cereal bar? there are some really nice ones which have a portion of fruit in but are also quite indulgent

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 18:23

and if i was struggling to get 2 portions of veg at a school dinner i would complain, tbh

FlappyTheBat · 19/06/2009 18:25
FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 18:31

ta for that flappy
i like it that people come on and suggest titles
ooh can we have that other one
which was so good i have forgotten it

FlappyTheBat · 19/06/2009 18:49

I'm sorry, will hide all 10/10 threads in future and refrain from thinking of thread titles.

anyway I only really like threads where people have a sense of humour, obviously 10/10 threads aren't the place for me!

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 18:51

wtf?
you have completely misunderstood me flappy but as i can't work out what you thought i was saying, i can't really put you right about it

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 18:54

translation of my post:

ta for that flappy = thank you for suggesting a title for us

i like it that people come on and suggest titles = erm, this means i like it that people come on and suggest titles

ooh can we have that other one = i would like the next thread title we have to be the other one that someone recently suggested to us because i found it particularly amusing

which was so good i have forgotten it = this was attempt at humour

= pointing out my fuckwittery in forgetting it

if there is still anything in there that offends you, i apologise
