Wake Pea Up Before you Goji - 10/10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I think lots of us are speccy twats. It might be one of the criteria for being on the thread actually:

10 portions of F&V
10 mins exercise
Mooncup supporter
Smiths and/or Levellers fan
Quinoa friendly
Speccy Twat

FrayedKnot · 18/06/2009 21:45

No specs here either Pointy

Although optician says almost everyone over 40 has to wear them - not long to go then

I did exercise and ate quite a lot of f&v but can;t be bothered to count

I can;t say I'm a mug-bothered type, either.

My take on the herbal tea is it was too hot (I have to have about 1/4 cold water otehrwise can;t drink it for about 30 mins) and by the time it had cooled down, she had forgotten?

Obviously I couldn't care less about the mug it's served in but obsessive about the temperature of the tea

mollyroger · 18/06/2009 21:51

actually I generally wear contact lenses.

You unspeccy two-eyes, you!

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2009 21:53

good criteria bunny
i had forgotten i called everyone speccy twats

i am getting ready to list
drum roll please

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2009 21:57

strawberries

raisins
banana
mange tout (x 2)
hummus
cherries
dried banana
dried mango
broccoli (x 2)
corn
roasted sweet potato, peppers, courgette
more strawberries

14

graze sent cherries - bit of an anti climax i must say
yogurt coated peanuts - not keen
and beach bum mix which was dried banana, dried mango and coconut
not my best week yet [spoilt]

pointydog · 18/06/2009 22:02

The lsit to end all lists, fran

I only meet two criteria on the bunny list.

I am not having a good time with the fuh and vuhs. sultnans, banana, mixed salad, tomatoes, pear. Will have another pear but, my goodness, that will onyl be 6.

I'm going to try hard this weekend. Promise

pointydog · 18/06/2009 22:03

I bet everyone else slumped when they clocked fran's list. Slumped and pined for the end of mugs and specs talk.

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2009 22:08

pointy i am sure everyone sat up straight and felt inspired and revitalised by my list [hard stare]

ahundredtimes · 18/06/2009 22:13

I only tick two on that list as well.

Perhaps this is why I'm slumping at the list, rather than being energised? I reckon a five ticker, when they read that list, will be punching the air with thrilled abandon.

Christ. I must be more disciplined. I have farted about all day. Next week, discipline and concentration. This is work, not veg. Sorry.

Am going to watch series four of The Wire now. Am v. happy. You feel me? No doubt. POH-lice.

pointydog · 18/06/2009 22:16

I am going to eat my pear

FrayedKnot · 18/06/2009 22:18

I have farted about all day too. And that was due to the f&v.

TooTicky · 18/06/2009 22:26

You are all flipping chatty today!!

Franny, I live with a bloke wot prints mugs. Yes, I am surrounded. Boxes of 36 arrive on a regular basis, the shelves are stacked with samples, parcels of mugs sit ready for posting, the most listened to music is the peeping of the mug press AND IS THERE EVER A MUG WHEN YOU WANT ONE? NO!! BECAUSE THE CHILDREN USE THEM AND HIDE THEM AND STASH THEM AND EAT THEM.

CKelpie · 18/06/2009 22:36

I'm really not doing very well with fuhs and vuhs.
Banana, carrots and sugarsnaps in houmous today - I overdid it with the garlic and now I reek.

On the plus side I lost 3lb this week so am feeling pleased with myself, I will be slinky on my holiday damnit!

I'm a mug-slut, I care not as long as it contains warm wetness.

SuperBunny · 18/06/2009 22:47

Wow Ckelpie, well done. I got weighed today

I have been shamed into not scoffing everything in site.

Frozen Grapes (erm, about 2 bowlfuls - can I count it as 4?)
Bananas (2)
Juice

Pointy, you haven't been putting an orange aside. That's why you're not getting 10.

SuperBunny · 19/06/2009 00:05

sight not site

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 08:32

"I reckon a five ticker, when they read that list, will be punching the air with thrilled abandon."

LOL

look could i respectfully point out
if reading about people eating lots of f+v makes you slump then you are probably on the wrong thread?
(and no i am not hinting that i want either of you to go )
but, you know, hanging around on the veg thread, sighing whenever anyone eats veg, is a bit ODD

pointy i am determined to get you to 10 again this week
come on
what are you eating
start with breakfast
you need to have 4 for breakfast
dried fruit (you only need 3 dried apricots fgs), fruit juice, apple and banana (or something)
anyone can manage that
what are you eating

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 08:33

TooT sorry about the mug thing

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 08:34

i am having my tea out of the posh flowery cup i bought for HC that the doula may or may not have drunk out of
do you think it has negative chi or something
perhaps she sensed its aura and it wasn't pretty

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 08:35

hold on it was the HOMEOPATH that didn't drink out of it
the doula has never accepted any food or drink in my house ever except a glass of water
shit they know something i don't, don't they
is my house on a bad ley line

pinkspottywellies · 19/06/2009 09:24

I'm not a speccy twat. And I drive. And eat bacon. So I don't really know how I ended up on this thread, and I certainly don't know how I'm allowed to stay. Maybe cause I give stickers

On the up side. HOORAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!! I thought I'd lost the stripey blanket that you guys got me. I was a bit devestated cause it's my favourite (except if my mum lurks and knows who I am in which case the one she knitted is my fave). I was actually going to buy another one if it didn't turn up even though we have blankets coming out of our ears!! Well anyway, I rang the hotel last night to see if they had found it and they have!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY

Graze box due today and already had strawbs, apple, banana, raisins, plums, grapes totalling 4 portions (I weighed) and will have juice in a sec with kiki so 5. Having indian takeaway tonight so might need to get to at least 9 before dinner

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2009 09:26

oh i think indian food v good for veg pink
mind you we are4 veggie so that is maybe why
lentil dishes and mushroom bhaji delicious

i saw you on sling swap place and wanted to pop up and say hello madly!

Tatties · 19/06/2009 10:13

SB I had an allergy test done one the NHS - I think it took a while to be referred to the dermatology department though.

Franny maybe a fly went for a swim in her tea? If that happened to me I would just say so though and get a fresh cup. Hmmm

ahundredtimes · 19/06/2009 10:38

I didn't really sigh, in fact I am as a rule utterly unmoved by everyone's lists. That is bad, and does rather call into question my presence on the f&v thread. I don't even list my f&v do I?! This is food for thought.

mollyroger · 19/06/2009 10:55

I got 4 on bunny;'s list.

Ohgdogodogod. feel dirty and ashamed, like an unfaithful lover.
Just been to have discrete, without prejudice chat with head of a different local primary school (one which has exceptional behaviour management skills) with a view to possibly moving ds.
They said they could take him from sept but I am dithering because it is such a massive step to take.
