For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Same here, Buda. I had a bottle of prossecco at the Japanese and then another two glasses of wine when I got home. I've had toast this morning too. Nothing like marmite on toast with a hangover, and butter, and marmalade..

I tried all sorts of things to lose weight from loads of exercise to eating lots of fruit and veg but nothing made any difference until I simply Ate Less Food.

Shame eating less food isn't simple. I certainly couldn't do it while I was breastfeeding, I don't think I've ever lost much weight till I stop.

sorky · 27/05/2009 12:36

Pink I'd like to thank you
Your run last night inspired me to get out and I ran a mile!!

So chuffed, just have to keep it up.

Raisins
Banana
Apple
Goji
Blueberries & Cranberries
Apricots

I haven't signed up to graze, I'm still thinking about it...

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2009 13:50

if i Eat Less Food, then i put weight on again when i Eat More Food again - in fact more weight because my metabolism slows down
i'm not prepared to Eat Less Food for the rest of my life [pale at the thought]
i can usually lose weight by being fairly active and eating a reasonably healthy diet
but i guess i am getting old now

i should stop eating so much sugar though
it;s lack of sleep again
always does it

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 27/05/2009 15:50

Hello....!!

Have skimmed loosely.

So sorry Molly about school, . Hope it is one of those situations where you look back and are glad things went the way they did.

Title is good, love the born slippy one. Brings back good memories.

The DC's for some reason, are choosing to be with me and have refused all offers to socialise! We are not doing the greatest stuff...sp[ent all yesterday downloading colouring in pictures and mass producing works of art!

I'm with you on the eating sugar dilemma Franny. You know eating something healthy and sustaining is the Right Thing To Do but cake is nicer. And I have managed to come off painkillers which is not going too well. My joints are dreadful and I ahve a permanant headache.

Well done pink on running... I am doing combined exercising; rowing machine, running, cycling and swimming. It is a real dilemma. My body can't cope, but I NEED to do the exercise for my mental wellbeing, and plus I love it.

I feel 90.

But never mind. Have much better days when the sun shines.

Ummm...lists would be quite good, if a tad boring. Food is not a big priority in my life.

Well..um..hello to everyone else .

SuperBunny · 27/05/2009 18:42

Yes, sorry about the school, Moll. I think I forgot to say that yesterday but I did think it.

Oatmeal with sultanas and mixed berries (2)
Baked crepes stuffed with ricotta (accidental dairy consumption) and cinnamon apples
strawberries
juice

Five

Will have pile of veg for supper.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/05/2009 18:45

blueberries
banana
dried fruit
satsumas (2 portions)
peas
strawberries
juice
nakd bar

Oh yes, high sugar intake and lack of sleep go hand in hand ime. I have found my sugar laden food intake has defo decreased since Baby Lemur has started to reliably sleep through.

pointydog · 27/05/2009 18:53

sorry to hear about teh school decision, moll.

I do think I have outgrown medieval fairs. The one I went to at the weekend was a good medieval fair but ultimately dull.

Tonight is our local pram race. Where on earth do pram races originate?

pointydog · 27/05/2009 18:55

banana
mixed salad
cabbage in coleslaw and beetroot and orange salad (1.5 I'd say)
carrots
beetroot (I loves it)
mango

More later

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2009 18:57

oh i used to pram race
it is a silly thing isn't it

littlerach · 27/05/2009 19:02

Awful weather today.

Pram race????

Raisins
strawberries
slald leaves
tomatoes
sweetcorn
stir fry (huge) with broccoli, green beans, cabbage, bean sprouts and pak choi. Poss 3 portions in total?
Chickpeas
pear
banaa

That is about 10 I reckon, no?

My Graze box came and dds fought over ir
I let them have the apple
I have wasabi things and nut mix.
I have hidden it from DH!!!

pointydog · 27/05/2009 19:18

you used to pram race, fran? Were you just being part of the community or did you really want to do it?

mollyroger · 27/05/2009 19:18

my graze box comes on friday, i am ridiculously excited. it might be the nearest thing I get to an appropriate, well chosen pressie.

We have just returned from Basil Brush show at theatre. Obviously I have the sense of humour of a small boy as there ws lots of wee and bum jokes and I laughed like a drain alongside my boys.

I have eaten nothing but an orange and some lentil soup. But will be havbing something with baked spud and salad for supper.

Thank you all for kind words. Feel better (I howled for a couple of hours yeserday and that is very cathartic) so today its onwards and upwards.

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2009 19:20

"Were you just being part of the community or did you really want to do it?"

erm
is this a trick question
can i phone a friend

SuperBunny · 27/05/2009 19:21

Basil Brush

Pram racing?

DS had big strop when I made him spit out the bubblegum that playgroup had given him I was trying to think of an Unconditional Parenting way to tell him he may not have it. All I can think of is 'because I said so'

SuperBunny · 27/05/2009 19:22

Franny!

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2009 19:27

hello!

at bubblegum
i don't think it is possible to be UP about bubblegum
me and a friend are going to get t-shirts printed
"WWAD?"
(what would alfie do )

pointydog · 27/05/2009 19:30

no, not a trick question! I think I would only ever become involved in a pram race if I felt duty-bound to do so. If my workplace or a club was taking part and I was forced into it.

pointydog · 27/05/2009 19:31

lol @ basil. I can think of few thinks worse than Brush but glad he made you laugh

mollyroger · 27/05/2009 19:44

I know, I know. It was a spur of the moment thingy and was greeted with actual cries of joy from my boys (even the 11-yr-old) so it was worth it in terms of bondingness...

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2009 19:48

ok
no i wanted to do it
i would not do it now (you have to drink 3 pints of beer for a start!) but it was funny, in a daft but harmless kind of way i suppose

TooTicky · 27/05/2009 20:10

Oh good, you have stopped talking about weight loss.

Franny, dp would do you a good price on t shirts, blah blah.

I ate a strawberry. A biggish one.

My children went to a sweet shop today and bought sweets with their own money and I didn't even read the ingredients.
Then I fed them potato waffles.
I hereby resign from good motherhood.
Actually, I think I was probably thrown out some time ago.

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 27/05/2009 20:18

Ooo, I love potato waffles. DS has never had them but only because they don't exist over here.

SuperBunny · 27/05/2009 20:19

And I quite fancy a Findus Crispy Pancake

TooTicky · 27/05/2009 20:20

They don't smell good though. Something about the fat. It is a bit like shop pastry. I seem to be hypersensitive to these things atm.
