Guava Guava Guava Hey! Over The dill With The Strawbs Of A Thousand Men - 10/10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

i think ds is going to have to come to work with me on wed
he's ok at the baby class but the toddler class is temptingly boisterous
and a 6 y o boisterous is sort of disastrous amongst a lot of 2 and 3 y o boisterousness

FrannyandZooey · 01/06/2009 22:10

100 can come and do HTT advice
that thread was a joy

TigerFeet · 01/06/2009 22:14

link?

could do with some HTT advice

I have been doing Shouting

ahundredtimes · 01/06/2009 22:15

lol FK. I loved that thread. I think it was the first one or one of the first ones I posted on. Then Cod went on holiday, and I was in charge of HTT and Boco came in the office, and so did someone else and she did bits of sick in her handbag. I thought it was going to be that fun on MN all the time. And Franny was nice to me, and I couldn't understand how to do links, but she kept asking me who I was. Was all very exciting. Then I played Malory Towers with Franny and Guap.

Fra's advice re sweets v. good. I can't give sensible advice on it, I don't really mind sweets, in a not very sensible way.

FrayedKnot · 01/06/2009 22:22

Could he have a special role that would mean he couldn;t join in the boisterousness, Franny?

Yes, I have said to the friend (who is 6) that DS isn;t allowed sweets every day but to him it probably just sounds mean, so I think he thinks he is doing DS a favour by offering them

If they play here and ask for a snack they are allowed to choose fruit or whatever we have available which might be cereal bars or flapjack or something.

Homemade lollies is a great idea though, as then perhaps DS won;t feel he's being so hard done by.

ahundredtimes · 01/06/2009 22:22

I have spent most of the evening on the phone picking people's brains about the world of corporate banking. It's all be v. taxing and rather because there are only so many times you can ask someone to explain what a compliance officer in an investment bank does. I think 2007 might just have been funner.

FrayedKnot · 01/06/2009 22:26

this one, Tiger

I have been sniggering at it all evening and annoying DH

FrannyandZooey · 01/06/2009 22:27

homemade lollies are quite exciting especially if you do layers eg different colour juices or yogurt or whatever

100 MN is that fun all the time
it's just not all the same people are having the fun all of the time, unfortunately

FrannyandZooey · 01/06/2009 22:29

oh wonky is on there in her old name! one of few namechanges i ever approve of

Boco · 01/06/2009 22:32

Was that the thread where Franny slipped on some gym shoes so she couldn't be heard on the parquet? Don't know why I've always remembered that, it made me laugh. The person being sick in their handbag was thingy Moran wans't it? I dind't realise at the time.

FrayedKnot · 01/06/2009 22:33

Like the toffee crisp advert, 100.

TooTicky · 02/06/2009 08:04

I think it was a different one - it was the one when cod went on holiday and left 100 in charge, and I helped, but you came and did checking up and were strict. I don't think i was on that other one. Who were peterandre and climbing walls?

AtomicDog · 02/06/2009 10:58

I remember that thread I was too late it was all over by time my book arrived

I have just followed my own link in there to a thread where I cried for help and been alarmed that EVERYTHING IS STILL THE DAMN SAME

oh dear lord no it cannot be

but it is

have had smoothie and home-made muesli with fresh mango and dried cranberries on

also pineapple slices

FrannyandZooey · 02/06/2009 12:08

oh RR
but now you have a lovely blog? [hopeful]

my mother is here asking why she can't vote for the UKIP
"I am not joking" she says

ahundredtimes · 02/06/2009 12:26

Well perhaps you just have to accept it then? Perhaps she's just got a mind of her own and doesn't want to play ball - and perhaps she doesn't want to play ball with particular relish. As they get older and that comes clearer, I have also somehow found it makes things easier. You get to say, 'well it's not my homework, it's up to you whether you do it or not' and 'okay, have your dinner on the floor.'

I have surrendered to their utterly mad wilfulness. They are crazier, life is easier. What is she not doing that you need her to do??

I like your blog RR. I have just gone to read it, is v. good and v. wry. Am intimidated by some of your new friends though. Am particularly intimidated by the person who suggests Treat Thursdays - when you buy a donut from Greggs rather than have home made cakes.

Also GOD isn't Cod nice though? She's so helpful to everyone on those threads. And so funny too. I think Cod was the Original Anne. With bite.

ahundredtimes · 02/06/2009 12:34

Yes Avi, I was. She seems highly plausible. And evolved.

ahundredtimes · 02/06/2009 12:41

In fact I think Cod gave me the best bit of parenting advice I've ever had when she said, 'none of it really matters, you just have to like your kids, that's all.'

So true.

I'll stop praising her now. It'll go badly wrong.

SuperBunny · 02/06/2009 14:10

Mits, how are you? How was the assessment?

Hello everyone else too.

mollyroger · 02/06/2009 14:59

lentil and carrot soup
banana
Orange
Apple juice

Five. hmm. veg curry for tea might swell me up to 10.

Have discovered the joy and ease of home-made toasted seeds - a new addiction, I fear.

ReallyReally · 02/06/2009 15:06

"What is she not doing that you need her to do??"

snort

Eating. Anything. And school stuff. We have a book that goes back and forth to school detailing her inability to take any damn notice of anybody. And just stuff. Yesterday we went to the beach and she got herself into a complete state because I said we weren't going to the supermarket to buy rice, we were going to go home and have pasta, and she howled and wailed and threw sand at me and I had to carry her back to the car because I knew it would take me about 3 hours to convince her to pick her crutches up and walk

tried 'how to talk'

Her: I WANT TO GO TO THE SUPERMARKET
Me: You are frustrated that we can't go to the supermarket.
Her: NOW I WANT TO GO
Me: I wish we could just fly to the supermarket
Her: I WANT TO GO TO THE SUPERMARKET
Me: Yes, you do. You are frustrated that we are not going. It will take us too long and we have wasted all this valuable time having such a lovely time on the goddamn beach eating icecream and playing with the sand you ungrateful little sod

think I need to read book again

Have had ice pop, does that count? I think it had strawberry flavouring in. And it is very hot.

Banana
two small oranges
