For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I am trying to meal plan and lacking inspiration. This is because I want to eat mainly veggie food and not too much wheat (so curries, dahl, veg chili with rice, stir fry, etc).

DS not keen on any of the above because he won;t eat any darn vegetables (well, except peas and carrots). His favourite meals are lasagne, pizza, other pasta, shepherds pie, roast dinners etc.

DH eats anything so not an issue.

Heeeelp...

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 30/05/2009 21:31

No....I agree with you 100..hope you are OK SB.... (((((((())))))))))

At the moment we are keeping things as normal as far as MIL is concerned, although she has noticed I do not wear my wedding ring. It is not easy but she is 89 and somehow seems like the right thing to do. I am not always her favourite person as she feels I am not quite good enough at catering to her son's every whim. She finds ways to undermine me and mostly I can shrug it off ut she also does it to the DC's and they get more and more badly behaved the more she criticises me/them.

I nearly always wind up going for a LONG cycle ride or run when we get back. We go every other week mostly so AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

She knows full well I am quite capable at DIY and had a go that 'real' women didn't do that sort of thing and how they were navvies or labourers if they did .

Guadalupe · 30/05/2009 21:37

Thanks. I have a gas hob, I hate electric rings, but I've never used a gas oven before, only duel fuel.

I tried to bid up and up towards the buy it now price but it didn't reach the reserve. I think their reserve must have been the buy it now price.

Have emailed her and she says we can agree a price, but other lay is coming back to her with price also and they had another offfer last week. They might be lying for all I know, but dh said they seemed nice yesterday.

I want the feakin oven but it's a lot of money though only a quarter of what they are new. And I can't ask dh as he is serving tea and washing bunions in some dale somewhere.

Sorry, deathly dull but am consumed with it.

Boco · 30/05/2009 22:31

Hope it works out Guad. Gas is better than lectric.

Dp and db gone off to bil to be's stag night so not sure when I'll see them again. Both looking a bit reluctant and scared as bil and his mates big tattoed fellas going to see a band called Loud As Fuck. Ha ha.

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2009 22:36

FK would he eat frittata? roast veg such as sweet potatoes? veg kebabs? soups - maybe a smooth blended lentil soup if he is not keen on veg
you could make pasta with corn or quinoa pasta (although i am never convinced it is that nice) and you could make pizza with spelt flour (i know it is still wheat but at least a slight variation)
or polenta pizzas are REALLY nice, but bit of a faff to make i think

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2009 22:38

oh shepherds pie you could do with lentils or aduki beans (have recipes) and instead of plain mash you can do sweet potato mash, or other root veg
bubble and squeak? or other fried potato cake things, with other veg added in

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2009 22:41

strawberries
blueberries
pineapple
raisins
mango - hallelujah it was a peach of a mango
if you see what i mean
roast sweet potato, courgette, mushroom and peppers (2 portions)
strawberries again
blueberries again

and i just sniffed another mango but 2 in one day would be greedy wouldn't it?

anyway 9 unless i can count the sniffing thing

1 h 15 in gym

Guadalupe · 30/05/2009 22:50

Too tired to count but it was a lot, more thsn Franny anyway. I lolled on your shoe thread btw. 'I want blue shoes not BLUE shoes. ROFL.

When do I get another graxe thing then? I fancy it now and have just roasted a big pan of seeds. Do seeds count?

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2009 22:52

fgs @ shoe thread
turquoise is NOT the same as teal

Guadalupe · 30/05/2009 23:03

Of course, one is greeny blue and redolent of fun and brightness and chipper days by the sea whilst the other is smokey and dark with a petrol mist and a vibe of storms. Yep yep. Different blues. I get ya.

you of the fireplace tiles

Guadalupe · 31/05/2009 10:24

I do understand, that's why it makes me laugh.

I was drunk last night though, I had opened a bottle of wine and it's nearly gone, I don't normally have thatmuch by myself, now I have a headache.

Going to make watermelon and marmite on toast. No, Toot, not together.

FrannyandZooey · 31/05/2009 11:11

AND the teal isn't even the smoky dark sort
it's a bit bright

greeny has gone
i told her about the shoe problem about 15 times in great detail
i wish she was still here

TooTicky · 31/05/2009 12:29

I wouldn't eat watermelon on toast with or without marmite.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 31/05/2009 17:59

Oh and I am now fully internet connected in the bolt hole,

Nearly spent as much on a gadget to make it possible as the laptop itself cost but thick walls and wireless don't work apparently! At least I don't have to dangle from the chimney anymore....

pointydog · 31/05/2009 20:02

oh, you are quick, pink. My exercise isn't great. I work too much. I need to cut down. Will do better.

pinkspottywellies · 31/05/2009 20:02

HellO!

Dentist was an arse. It was a half hour drive away, I was on holiday. She said 'take paracetamol and see your dentist when you get home'. I wanted to shout FFS do you think I would be here if paracetmol was working????? but I just sobbed a little bit and said in a very small voice 'but paracetamol isn't touching it and I think it's infected'. She gave me AB's. It's still hurting.

Had a wonderful wonderful time with my mum and sister. Wish I was still there. And having had help with the dcs and not cooked or washed up or done laundry all week I'm now petrified about being on my own tomorrow

Got 20 people signed up on graze now and I think I know 2 of them

pinkspottywellies · 31/05/2009 20:10

Franny, where can you tell graze that you don't ever want a particular thing? Or do you just have to find every instance of it? goji berries were gross! And can I ask for my medium to always be 2 portions?

FrannyandZooey · 31/05/2009 20:13

pink i got 26 - great isn't it!
v sorry about your tooth
i expect you have tried all obvious things but VERY hot salty water, as hot as you can bear, swilled around your mouth, can bring relief
plus i used to let half a junior disprol dissolve right on top of the sore tooth - i think this is NOT GOOD for the tooth in the long run - but it does relieve pain better than ordinary paracetamol and as they are low dose for children, you can take quite frequently - hourly IIRC but please check obviously
